'La Cascata' is the perfect place to relax, walk, climb, paint and enjoy the culinary delights of Italy. This lovely house has a traditional slate roof, a wonderful fireplace, comfortable lounge with a sofa bed, TV & video and well appointed kitchen with dish washer and full sized cooker. The three bedrooms, two with mountain views have cosy pine panelling. The modern bathroom has a mini bath, shower, wc and basin. The front garden with patio, lawn and barbecue is perfect for a chilled glass of wine and al fresco meals whilst enjoying views of the Mont Avic National Park. The steep rear garden contains aromatic herbs and fruit trees for your use.

'La Cascata' is located at Grand Hoel, overlooking the Aosta Valley. Its tranquil unspoilt position is just an hour from Turin airport and less than 10 minutes drive to the nearest shops, bars and restaurants at Montjovet. There are extensive walks of all levels from the door. Set on the foothills of Monterosa with views over the Grand Paradiso National Park, it is the perfect place to relax, paint, ski, cycle or just enjoy the wonderful food and drink. There are castles galore, roman bridges, galleries and theatres in Aosta, not to mention the local village festivals. The uncrowded roads make driving simple to places such as Lake Como, Lake Maggiore, Barolo and Turin. Horse riding, mountain biking, childrens' adventure parks, summer and winter skiing, white water rafting are just some of the sports available. Most guests are on their third or fourth visit!

Notes: Washing machine and fax internet available at a small charge The double room can take an extra bed. The twin room can be a double or twin. Third room has a double sofa bed Can take elderly/infirm without walking difficulties. Children welcome they have loved the freedom. Very friendly dog available as walking guide! Virtually no traffic and very safe. Prefer no smoking in the house - smokers table on patio! Breakfast not included in SC. I have B&B licence as a second option if guests prefer.

Things to see and do: The Aosta Valley was a Roman route through the alps. There are Roman remains in Aosta along with a beautiful cathedral and excellent shops. Mediaeval castles line the valley many of which can be visited. Turin is well worth a visit for its architecture and designer shops. Further afield but in easy reach are Lake Maggiore with its cable car and Borromean islands and Lake Como, the capital of the silk industry.

Eating and Drinking: The Aosta Valley has a tradition of good food and excellent wine. There are several restaurants nearby offering specialities from a simple pizza to haute cuisine at excellent value for money. Look out for venison, wild boar, local cheeses and porcini mushrooms. Terraced vineyards adorn the valley and some cellars can be visited. A little to the south, in Piedmonte, are the villages of Barolo, Barbaresco and Alba with superb restaurants, wine cellars and scenery

Activities: Grand Hoel is surrounded by lanes and mule tracks with extensive marked walks from the door. Wildlife and flowers are abundant. Mont Avic National Park has excellent walks and glacial lakes. Ski resorts such as Champoluc and Cervinia (The Matterhorn) have ski lifts operating in high season and guides for more difficult glacier climbs. Mountain huts are open for overnight stays. White water rafting 50 minutes away at Pre St Didier. Open air pool at St Vincent 15 minutes away. Golf at Gressoney.

Imagine wakingup to gorgeous surroundings of snow covered mountains, the skiing was great and the surrounding area is beautiful and peaceful.
Great for picincs in amazing surroundings, walks - you name it.
Thanks again to Jean for a wonderful, comfortable and memorable visit.
The house itself is just like you imagine a mountain hideaway to be, cosy and comfortable with everything one could possibly need.

Stay in paradise

We just returned from a wonderful week at "La Casacata". We skied every day in nearby Champoluc, returned in time for an afternoon walk in the stunning coutryside around the house.. followed by an aperitif on the sunny terrace and a cosy evening by the log fire. We also had some fabulous meals in local restaurants.

Thanks for your warm and friendly welcome Jean, we loved the extra little touches which made us really feel at home. We feel rested and rejuvenated after our stay in "paradise".
