Bordered by Devon Avenue on the south, Juneway Terrace on the north, Ridge Avenue on the west and Lake Michigan on the east, the community includes 63,000 residents who speak more than 80 languages.

The area was named for pioneer settler and developer Phillip Rogers. On April 29, 1878, Rogers Park was incorporated as a village, and in 1893, annexed to Chicago. Since then it frequently has been referred to as "East" Rogers Park, and West Ridge, the next neighborhood west, was identified as West Rogers Park.
