Couchant Sleeps 6. Couchant is a spacious upside-down gite with two of the bedrooms on the lower floor. This means that during our hot summers, these bedrooms stay particularly cool. The first impression when walking through the downstairs double doors into Couchant is that of space. The hallway looks up to the gallery landing and on to the magnificent beams leading to the roof space. Straight ahead are a double and a twin bedroom and to the left a bath/shower/wc, and a second shower/wc. Up a separate staircase is the 'hideaway' bedroom which is always much in demand by the children. Although still within earshot (!) they feel they have a den of their own! Upstairs is the spacious living area with comfy sofas, an insert wood burning fire for the cooler autumn evenings. There is a variety of family games provided and a tv (including BBC channels) and dvd. For dining indoors there is a large oak dining table which seats eight people.

The well-equipped oak kitchen (new 2008) has a dishwasher, microwave, oven and hob, large fridge/freezer and washing machine. From the living area, two steps lead down to the french doors and the terrace with table and chairs and barbecue. The terrace is well shaded by walnut and mulberry trees with figs trees alongside. Imagine fresh figs for breakfast picked from the trees in late summer! The terrace opens out onto the front garden of the property, but is well sheltered by bushes to retain its privacy. This is an ideal spot for watching the sun go down whilst sipping a glass of wine and waiting for the barbecue to be ready!
