Photos and Description of the Spoleto vacation apartment rental
Self Catering in central Spoleto/Views/Easy Access to Rome, Perugia + Assisi

Large, private, pool available to all our guests, 7 miles away, FREE OF CHARGE, at our Villa Marianna.

Across the road from Spoleto park with bar, swings and climbing frames, 3 minutes walk to Piazza Liberta, the Roman amphitheatre and the shops, bars and restaurants in the centre of Spoleto, these 2 self catering apartments are just a short bus-ride to the train station, from where you can get to practically anywhere in Italy.

Both these stylish and comfortable apartments were originally owned by the builder of the block (and, you know they always keep the best for themselves !), a 7 year old, purpose built block of up-market apts, inhabited by a handful of wealthy, professional Italians.

Penthouse On The Park has a large roof terrace with 360 deg views of mountains, olive groves, the park and roof-tops + 2 sets of dble French windows, leading directly from the sitting/dining room onto a long balcony. Il Parco has 3 balconies, all with tree-top + hill views.

SPOLETO CENTRAL: With its shops, bars and the largest selection of fantastic restaurants, all offering a diversity of dishes from local black truffles to pastas and paper thin, bubbly, crispy crust, piping hot pizzas, Spoleto is not a touristy place and, therefore, prices are good, competitive local prices. The local wines eg Trebbiano, Grecchetto, Montefalco, Orvieto... are to die for. You will hardly notice the price of it on your bill. You can choose from amazing shoe, bag and clothes shops, any shape or size, designer label or otherwise. And, there are churches and monuments on street corners, under arches, through tunnelled alleyways, peppered hither and thither, as you meander along the picturesque cobbled lanes, every angle, a work of art. Fatal to take your camera out. You will obsessively do nothing but take photos ! The local bars are filled with friendly locals and the owners will warmly welcome you. The passeggiata is where everyone meets and is joyful, especially over aperitivi.

BUS, TRAIN OR CAR : From Spoleto train station, 30 mins walk, or a short bus ride (bus stops directly across the road), it is possible to get to practically anywhere in Italy eg 1 hr 20 mins to Rome, 4/5 hours to Venice and Naples, 30 mins to Perugia.... An easy walk along a flat boulevard road, stuffed with shops and bars ! From the nearest bus stop, a 5 mins walk, you can catch a bus to Norcia, which will take you on a sensationally beautiful drive along the Valnerina, for about 1 hr 45 mins, passing through mountain scenery, climbing higher and higher. Or, by car, you can continue further to the heart-stoppingly, amazing Gran Piano and see the tiny hick town of Castellucio peeking through swirling mists. On a great plane, surrounded by mountains, the world spilling beneath you, your heart will miss a beat. In Castellucio, you can dine on the finest lentils and white truffles. Nearer to home, by car, it is easy to visit Todi, Gubbio, Orvieto, Perugia, Spello and Assisi, all within a 45 mins radius.

WALKING, HIKING OR BIKING: Walk to the top of Spoleto, passing the famous Duomo, and you reach Spoleto's finest 2 monuments, the Rocca and Il Ponte. Takes about 10 mins. Then, you can do a circular walk around the Rocca, which is spectacularly beautiful, as you see Spoleto sprawling below you. Or, you can take the escalator from the bottom to the top of Spoleto. Then, pausing at the bar at the top for a prosecco, you can continue across the famous and stunning looking, arched bridge, directly into the mountains, and, either do another circular walk, passing across valleys, mountains and dales, ending up in Piazza Garibaldi, at the bottom of Spoleto, or, continue up through the Sacred Mountains to Monteluco. Or, you can take the bus from the bottom to the top, which takes about 10 minutes. If you are a cyclist, you can hire bikes locally and cycle along the river bank, all the way to Assisi, passing Campello and Trevi along the way.

Details for Il Parco 2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 4, 2 Bathrooms

Beautiful light and airy apartment with 3 balconies opposite Spoleto park, where there is a bar, ice-cream parlour, a restaurant, as well as swings + climbing frames, 3 minutes stroll to Piazza Liberta in the centre of Spoleto, where there is the tourist office + the Roman Forum. Very easy access to Assisi, Orvieto, Trevi, Perugia, Montefalco, Gubbio and Rome. It is 2 hours to Florence, 5 hours to Venice, 4 hours to Amalfi by train. Pretty tree-top and hill views from the balconies, an amazing and central location as well as SKY Sat TV with english speaking film/news/doc channels + DVD, make this a truly comfortable apartment to enjoy the holiday of a life-time in this tiny mediaeval city that predates Rome and that has become one of the 3 most popular places to live in the whole of Italy. Indeed, such is its popularity, while the price of property elsewhere in Italy and Europe is dropping, in Spoleto, it is continuing to rise ! Spoleto is an experience not to be missed.....

About Norma Williams

We were retired ! We 'fell' into our holiday rental business by accident. It started as a hobby after someone pleaded with us to rent them our house in San Mamiliano, while we were away.

We now have 2 major partners and between us, we offer about 40 very diverse villas, apartments and pool properties, both in central Spoleto and close by. Please see them all on my personal website, the address of which you will find at the bottom of the HomeAway page of this property.

However, we still do not regard ourselves as 'proper business people' because we care far more about contributing to making our guests' holidays fantastic than we do about making money. Indeed, Trip Advisor has awarded us their highest accolade, their ultimate badge of excellence, which can be used to promote any of our properties, as a result of the volume of brilliant reviews we have received from all over the world.

We hope you stay with us !

Staying in Spoleto is like staying in a fairy-tale castle, peppered with piazzas, sprinkled with bars, restaurants and shops amidst a maze of tunnelled, cobbled lanes and alley-ways, all leading skywards to the famous Rocca, the aquaduct & some of the best views in the world. This whole surreal setting is akin to a stage-set in the making, fringed by mountains, olive groves and vineyards and a mixture of medieval monasteries, towns, cities and tiny hill-top villages - all beckoning a visit ! However, for me, Spoleto is the ultimate temptress. Once under her spell, you are lost forever in her beauty. It requires will-power to leave this place, even for a short while. It is, quite simply, the most captivating city in Italy, never mind Umbria, Venice being on a par – the difference being that Venice has the water and Spoleto has the mountains. And, like Venice, Spoleto has a history to be reckoned with - it predates Rome. Easy access to Assisi, Perugia, Orvieto, Rome, Trevi, Perugia etc.

Other Activities: wine-tasting, markets, olive oil tasting, truffle trails, museums, galleries, churches

Spoleto- a vibrant small city in Umbria

Spoleto is a very busy buzzy small city with lots going on most weekends. The apartment was very comfortable for 4 people and conveniently located just outside the old city. It was still within easy walking distance to all facilities, except the train station. However it was easy to take a bus to the station. If arriving by train, as we did, the service offered is fantastic. We were met at the station and taken to our apartment. As well as that we were conveniently transported backto the station when departing. The apartment was clean, comfortable and well equipped, even to the point of supplying food and wine for at least one meal!

Very convenient for the centre of Spoleto, which is always lively well into the late evening with people of all ages (even with young children) enjoying the ambiente.
Comfortable and well appointed.
The owners, who live nearby, are very friendly and helpful.
Fascinating small towns across the region, with lots to see as well as excellent food.

Perfect base for exploring Umbria

My husband, friend, and I spent a week in Il Parco in October 2010. Though we've been to Italy many times, we pronounced this trip the best, not least because our digs were so comfortable and convenient. Il Parco is situated close enough to walk easily into il centro (and my husband has difficulty walking far) and it also has quite easy access to the highway one takes to explore so many lovely cities such as Trevi, Spello, and Assisi. Spoletto is charming, too, with a lovely Duomo, great restaurants, a lively market, good supermarkets, and of course the friendly Italians. The apartment, located in a relatively new building, is short on ancient charm, but long on comfort and convenience with an elevator and good bathrooms. We enjoyed living among the Italians in the building. Norma and Laurie are gracious hosts and made every effort to see that everything was in order for us. We can't wait to return.
Try Osteria del Matto for a delightful lunch, with Filippo providing the charming hospitality and Mamma the lovely dishes that just keep coming.

After 6 weeks in Italy and 5 bad apartments...this was the only one that was as promised. Enjoyed every moment of our stay. Spoleto is beautiful with everything needed for a good holiday and yet not too touristy at all. We loved this apt and the wonderful views and the easy walk to the old town and the beautiful forests behind. Took full advantage of the great food and wine shops in the Mercato and also the restaurants..Pecchardia being our favourite. Many thanks to Norma and laurie for being such good hosts

Norma, I had overlooked thanking you for our great week in Spoleto in early June. Everything went like clockwork - including Laurie.. a gem. The apartment and it's location were great. It worked well as a base to tour as far away as Orvieto and the Apenines. And, at the end of the day Spoleto was a great place to come back to with lots of excellent eating opportunities all within a evening stroll.
Our intention is to get back ( probably 2011 - 2012 ) to do more exploring of the Apenines .
I will get back in touch around that time.
