Mountain Air Country Club is located atop scenic and towering Slickrock Mountain near Burnsville, NC (Elev. 4,900 ft). Nestled among natural conifer glades and the manicured country club setting, this development was named "America's Best Community" and featured in Barron's magazine as one of the "Top 100 Places to Retire." Drive here on the Blue Ridge Parkway or land on our private airstrip. As our guest, you may choose from among the many activities that this exclusive mountaintop community has to offer--Mountain Air puts you in the heart of a vibrant, culturally diverse area. From the charms of nearby Burnsville to escapes at Mount Mitchell or the Toe River Natural Area, Mountain Air offers the best regional highlights. Mount Mitchell, the highest point in Eastern North America (Elev.6000 ft), with it's own public golf course, is a 30 minute drive and visible from the property. You can also enjoy a magnificent panoramic view and twinkling lights of Burnsville from the dual rocking chairs on our private deck. Evenings are best spent with the sliding doors open and the gas fireplace going strong. Every October, you can also enjoy the Mountain Heritage Festival on the country club grounds. The condo is within walking distance of many indoor and outdoor attractions, including our 18-hole championship golf course, hiking and mountain biking trails, or soft surface tennis courts and nearby ski slopes. The club has a heated pool open the months of May through October.
Weekends are packed with fun and entertainment events, most of which are complimentary for our guests. These planned activities are in addition to the anytime access to the fitness center, hot-tub, game room, basketball and tennis courts, along with 18 hole golf with mountaintop views.

Fall is the best time of the year up at Mountain Air Country Club. The air is crisp and the 360 degree views of the Black Mountains are spectacular. Now that fall is here, many golfers are looking for a course that's cool and offers plenty of scenery. Here at Mountain Air, we now have THREE mountain courses to choose from, all within 30 minutes of our mountaintop Chalet.
The first is our own private club course, that's available for our guests to play at $130 per round. This is a unique mountaintop course, with up to 900 ft elevation changes and spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. And our chalet is located just a chip shot from the 18th Tee Box.

Next, we offer Mount Michell, a public course just up the road on Burnsville. This is an entirely different golfing experience. It's a mountain plateau course, so instead of lookng down at the scenery, you are looking up, surrounded on all sides by beautiful mountain scenery. Green fees at Mount Mitchell are $60 on weekdays and $90 on weekends. You can drive from here to the Mount Mitchell course in just 20 minutes. And by the way, if you or the kids want a convenient place to go tubing, we discovered Carolina Hemlocks, a state park area just this side of Mount Mitchell. You can picnic all day and for just a few dollars each, the park rangers will provide you with tubes and recommend a great little river run. While the kids are tubing, you can barbecue on the grill or organize a great family picnic lunch. What a great way to beat the heat.
