Spectacular sun-filled south-facing luxury canal-side triplex overlooking Notting Hill and far beyond which includes a wonderful, 20-foot-high, penthouse loft with floating bedroom platform. Owned and built by a Scandinavian designer, this ultra-stylish but quiet and very cozy and romantic apartment has been crafted with wit and love and has never previously been rented except for the occasional fashion shoot. Sleeping up to eight persons, the apartment has great transport links, free wifi and unlimited telephone calls to the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and the United Kingdom.

The house is in a quiet Victorian cul-du-sac, some of whose houses, almost in secret, back onto the Grand Union canal. It is perfectly positioned for explorations all over the capital. A delightful short stroll along the canal takes you to the quaint cafés, antique and junk shops and market of the Golborne Road & Portobello Road that leads you in turn to Notting Hill. A few minutes further in the opposite direction lay Little Venice and Maida Vale with their own array of chic boutiques and restaurants. The nearest Underground Station is just 3 minutes away and a wide range of buses stop literally around the corner. A 5 minute bus trip will get you to Kensington Gardens & Hyde Park, and a 15 minute one to either the theatres of the West End or to Camden Market, arguably the only genuine competitor to Portobello road for multicultural people-watching and wild street fashion. The 15 minute Heathrow Express arrives at Paddington which is just two underground stops away.

  • The double beds in the loft and master bedroom are extra large, if only to satisfy the needs of the 6ft 6ins owner. All linen is made of extra soft 100% Egyptian cotton and duvets and pillows are made with made with anti-allergic duck feathers.

Notes: A private entrance and mural-decorated staircase leads up to the higher floors of a red-bricked Victorian house. On the lower floor there is a bedroom with it's south-facing balcony overlooking the canal and Meanwhile Gardens (a small nature reserve), a romantic master bedroom with ensuite bathroom and another bathroom. Both bathrooms have showers and jetted tubs. Continuing up a short flight of stairs, you emerge firstly into the kitchen which has another balcony and a wonderfully positioned breakfast table from where you can sip your coffee and enjoy the south-facing view over Notting Hill. Turn another corner and you are in the triplex's huge double-levelled loft with twin fireplaces. Seeing is believing. Part of it leads up to the roof terrace, while a further part leads still further up to the gravity-defying bed and study, from where you can laze and gaze forever, over your friends downstairs or out to the birds and boats on the canal and the amazing London landscape beyond.

wonderful vacation home

I cant even begin to say how nervous I was about renting a house online. Peter was great to work with and left me feeling at ease. The house was perfect. In town but just far enough out to make it feel like you were more at home. I honestly have no objections about our vacation or staying at this home. I was very impressed. I highly recommend it to others and if I ever have the pleasure of returning to England, I will definetly see if the house is available.
I also recommend going to the "Prince of Wales" pub down the street. We went there 3 out of the 5 days and we had a blast. We made fast friends with the bartenders there and they were so nice. The even bought us a "farewell" drink. And Tops Pizza across the street from the pub was amazing too. We would finish the pizza while walking back to the house and then turn around and go and order another one.
This was a wonderful vacation. I hope everyone who gets to go gets to enjoy what we did.

My teenagers want a flat like this!

Great flat - my teenagers loved it and we really enjoyed our champagne on the sunny roof terrace. The flat was very quirky and comfortable, with everything we needed for our stay (tho it might be time to do a mini refurb to bring everything back up to the highest standard). Near the tube station so leave the car at home if at all possible. Had a nice visit to portobello market on Saturday morning - just a five minute walk away. Everyone was very helpful - even with our very late arrival.

Famous appartement for a perfect stay in London

Thank you for making possible a perfect stay in London. We enjoyed this very nice and tasteful flat very much. Our kids (10,13,15) particularly liked the penthouse and the hammock. We appreciated Rowan's help and attention. The welcome-champagne was great.
The tube is a few minutes away from the flat and you can find all things you need close to the appartement.

Great starting point for our adventure

This unique property was very close to transportation, so we were able to get around quite easily from there. We enjoyed the space in the apartment for our group of 5 to spread out and the hammock to relax in. Thank you Peter for a very nice holiday in London.

Note that this is not a good choice if you cannot navigate stairs well or have very small children as it is rather ship-like with different "decks" accessed by open stairs.
