The region isn't only famous for waters but also for its wine. The Saint-Pourcain vineyard, which stretches along the banks of the Allier, is one of the oldest in France. The Location: Towns close by for shopping and eating out: Lapalisse is the nearest main town and only 10 minutes drive away. The famous spa town of Vichy is only a 25 minutes drive away as is Roanne but in the opposite direction , both these major towns are full of historical buildings and some fantastic shopping is to be had!!!! Fishing and golf is to be found locally with numerous lakes with tariffs starting from as little as 5 euros a day. The lake at Lapalisse holds black bass, trout, pike and pike perch the local rivers can also be fished, permits are obtainable from the local fish-tackle shop. Skiing in the winter months.
