Summer activities:
Flachau has excellent hiking in the mountains and valley trails dotted with welcoming mountain huts. More relaxing strolls are in the village and picturesque surroundings. Numerous other sports in the area include climbing, white water rafting, indoor and outdoor tennis, mini-golf and golf. Great mountain biking country! - including a down hill mountain bike track served by a gondola at nearby Wagrain. The famous Enns cycle path follows the Enns river through fantastic alpine scenery - and it passes our door! Bikes are available for rental nearby. The flat plateau location of Flachau is superb for families wishing to share gentle cycling and roller blading together. There are 2 outdoor swimming lakes close to Flachau with facilities such as restaurants, bars, small beaches and water volleyball nets. Horse riding is available - stables are within walking distance. Summer glacial skiing is available at the Dachstein, Kaprun and Moitai glacier. Owner offers guided XC skiing.
Eating, drinking, shopping:
The apartment is located within walking distance of some of the villages best places to eat, drink and shop, or a 2 minute drive will take you to car parking in the village centre. The standard of the local cuisine is superb and prices very reasonable. For the more energetic you can plan your summer hiking to take in some of the fantastic mountain huts set in magnificent scenery and get a really warm Austrian welcome. In the ski season there is a fantastic choice of mountain inns with sunny terraces and rustic alpine huts providing welcoming log fires, tasty meals and snacks and warming winter drinks! The apres ski is legendary!
Skiing information:
The apartment is very close to the ski lifts and the free ski bus stops at the end of the drive every few minutes. The slopes above the world cup resort of Flachau are varied with a bias toward long blue pistes in the forest, although there are also black, red and off piste slopes both in the trees and in a higher bowl above. Snow reliability is good, supplemented by an extensive net of snow cannons. There are 35 modern fast lifts in this immediate area, many of which are 4-8 person covered chair lifts and gondolas. In all, the Ski Amade pass gives access to 278 lifts and 860km of pistes, the largest single pass ski area in Austria. We have excellent ski and snowboarding schools and ski kindergartens. Try floodlit night time skiing, tobogganing and horse drawn sleigh rides. Visit the picturesque Sattelbauer inn for a drink and a meal and borrow a toboggan for an exhilarating 15 minute descent through the trees. Cross country ski trails are numerous in the area - one passes our door.
