A FABULOUS LOCATION IN ROME

  • 5 of 5
I had the pleasure of staying in Casa Antiqua apartment with my family of five. The apartment was clean, quiet, nicely appointed, and well equipped. It also happens to be in a great part of Rome! It was amazing to be able to walk out of the apartment each day and sample the goods from Campo de’ Fiori market, where the romans shop. Great shopping, food and sights are just a few minutes from the apartment. Staying at Elina's place is really a great way to explore Rome! I was also so impressed with the professionalism with which the place was run. From meeting them in the evening on our arrival, to a quick repair of the wireless when it went down, to the fact that the price was "all inclusive" made this a great place to stay. Highly recommended!

WHAT A WONDERFUL CHOICE

  • 5 of 5
We have just returned home with my family of six : me, my wife and our four children.
I have to say that Casa Antiqua really got satisfied and went beyond our expectations . The apartment already had seemed charming from the photos but the reality has really delighted us.
First, it really has the feeling to come back to the times of ancient Rome (there are  even some  finds of the Roman Empire left in the wall) and then the brick vault offers a truly evocative atmosphere .
The two bedrooms are very spacious and there are three comfortable double beds.
The bathroom is with shower and bidet , and has two separate entrances (very useful for privacy).
The kitchen is well equipped and you can easily prepare a meal at home , but the area where the house is located has such a choice of restaurants that we used the kitchen only for breakfast .
All the main sights are within walking distance and there is no need to use public transports.
The owner was polite and generally the entire process from booking on arrival was effortless , as well as transportation from the airport to the apartment that  was arranged by the owner .
So it was an unforgettable holiday in the eternal city and if we return to Rome we’ll choose without any doubt Casa Antiqua .

A GEM IN THE HEART OF THE AMCIENT CITY

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful stay in Rome with 2 adults and 4 children living in Casa Antiqua apartment. The three double beds were absolutely comfortable, the whole apartment lovely furnished and absolutely unique. We used the kitchen for cooking on several days as it is providing everything you need. Shopping facilities are near by and can easily be reached by foot. All the best historical points of interest like Vatican and Navona square are in walking distance. In the same area of the apartment, only few steps away, you will find a huge choice of good pizzaria and restaurant.
We felt very comfortable in Casa Antiqua and would love to rent the aparment again on our next visit.
We can recommend the Casa Antiqua apartment without exception.

MISREPRESENTED AS A TWO BEDROOM

  • 2 of 5
I rented this unit in March for my daughter, son-in-law, 10 year old grandson and me. While it is apparent that the owner took a great deal of care and pride in restoring this unit, it does not have two bedrooms as represented and therefore was not appropriate for my family. The only bedroom had one queen bed and one uncomfortable fold out futon like piece. There was another futon in a small area I would describe as living room or lounge with a small kitchen area at the other end. This setup might work for a couple or a couple with a small child, but certainly not for four adults much less six as it claims to accommodate. When I got up in the morning as the rest of my family still slept, the only place for me to go was the bath room. There was no place I could sit, read, or relax without awaking the others.
Since I was very unhappy with the accommodations, the owner gave us the use of an additional unit on the upper floor after the first night. While this did help with the sleeping arrangements, it was very inconvenient and defeated the purpose of renting an apartment so we could be together versus separate hotel rooms. Toiletries and clothes never seemed to be in the right unit.
While the unit itself was nicely finished, the furnishings were sparse and uncomfortable. The only place to sit in the living area was the folded up futon which was not comfortable. The chairs in the kitchen area were not much better. Although the kitchen was advertised as well equipped, we could not find one piece of silverware. We only used the kitchen to reheat leftovers from restaurants, but had no utensils with which to eat them. I would not even think of trying to cook a meal. There was a somewhat awkward closet/dressing area, but the only mirror was in the bathroom making it impossible for more than one person to get ready at the same time.
Other things to note include the lack of any windows to see out or provide light. One small window at the ceiling in the bedroom did let in air. Also, we were provided with only one key. When we asked for another, we were told there was not another to give us. Since we did not always all go out together, it created a real hardship. Who should have the key and how would the others get it?
I really cannot recommend this unit. Other reviewers seemed not to have been bothered by the deficiencies, but most disappointing is the misrepresentations. Carefully planning a once in a lifetime family vacation only to be mislead sad.

Owner's Response: “TRAVELING CREATES AN OPEN HEART....?”
Dear Teresa thanks for having spent your time posting your review and for giving me the opportunity to provide some additional information to the guests: the apartment suits 6 sharing two huge rooms with three queen double beds. There's definitely space enough for everybody as evidenced in some of the 5 stars reviews posted by previous families. Not sure why this reviewer had pointed it out if only three persons and a kid were in his party. Your daughter and son-in-law were so happy to stay in this apartment that i had to insist offering them to stay in the upper apartment making me understand that they had to accept it not to disappoint you.
Anyway thanks for the opportunity to emphasize it out for the future renters sake. I just wanted to clarify that the kitchen size is well proportioned to the overall apartment size which is, as clearly mentioned in the website 70 square meters. The kitchen size is actually as wide as it appears in the website. To find the cutlery was simply enough to open the large drawer located above the dining table. The table fits 6 people and there's space enough to prepare your meals if you do not want to eat out. Unfortunately the European spaces are pretty much smaller than the US sizes, I am sorry you have not been prepared to it before coming.

The apartment has been renovated on 2013; The building was built in XVI century and probably it was not paid specific attention to the fact that this apartment is very special because it has been converted from the entrance of a convent. All the four apartment windows face the cloister where the nuns were used to pray: there is still the original iron instrument iron used in the XVII century to open the windows that are positioned in the upper part of the walls. This is definitely one on the strength of this property that is then absolutely quiet and peaceful.
In furnishing this apartment my intention was not to alter the ancient atmosphere that characterizes it and for that reason I wanted to put the mirror in the bathroom that has two access doors and then offers the possibility to have a lot of privacy.
As for the number of keys we offer upon specific request up to two sets.

FAMTASTIC ACCOMODATION AND OWNER

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I have just returned from a trip to Rome and we had the pleasure to stay at this apartment close to Piazza navona. We can only agree with all the other positive reviews from previous guests: excellent and beautiful neighborhood, lovely and quite apartment, and the owner Mrs. Elina is extremely helpful. I was really worried about finding a quiet place to sleep at night, and this apartment was perfect, really quiet. Our stay in Rome was perfect and we will stay here again in our next trip.

GREAT PLACE, GREAT APARTMENT

  • 5 of 5
We arrived to the apartment at night time and were received by the very friendly and helpful caretaker of the apartment building. The apartment is as the pictures show and is very central to everything in Rome. We had a 4 and 2 year old and we were able to walk everywhere. Great restaurants in front of the apartment building and close to many other. The whole process from begining to end was very easy and smooth. A car to pick us up from the airport was organised so everything was very smooth and no issues at all.. Would definatly recommend the apartment.

Piazza Navona. The most famous square of Baroque Rome stands on the site of Domitianus stadium and the name seems to derive from a popular corruption of the term for the competitive games in agone which were held here. From the times of Domitian on, the place was used almost exclusively for sports events, including the famous August regatta in which the participants wore the colours of the nobles and the civic clergy. Even now the feast of the Befana (January sixth) is celebrated there with a typical market.

Other Activities: Shopping, antiquing, museum.
