LIVE LIKE A PARISIEN IN PARIS

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 4 nights at this apartment in Paris and had a wonderful time.

Being so central, we were able to walk everywhere, Seine and Notre Dame only 20 minutes, Louvre, 15 minutes. The tiny cobbled streets outside the apartment are closed to traffic and full of cafes, bread, cheese and wine shops, and markets.

The apartment is very comfortable, great to enjoy our wine, cheese and bread on, we became very Parisien !!!!! (French people don't get fat, so we joined them !!!!)

Sam, is excellent to deal with, and sent us many friendly emails of assistance before we arrived.

If you want a real experience of Paris, this is it, thanks Sam we will always remember our " Romantic Paris"

2014/15 Christmas and New Years in Paris

  • 5 of 5

For our family of 5, this apartment was just right for our stay! It was exactly as portrayed in the photos on the website (including the 141 stairs which we eventually got used to climbing). Sam is a terrific host who provided us with lots of helpful tips and advice prior to departure from home...most helpful knowing which options were available to get from the airport to the apartment! Unlike a standard hotel room in Canada, this charming apartment allowed us each our own space to sleep in at night and 'decompress' at the end of a long sightseeing day. The kitchen is well enough equipped to make your own coffee and light meals and to keep cold foods on hand. I would recommend stocking up on breakfast and lunch supplies so you can eat your first meal at the apt in the morning and then pack sandwiches for the day...unless you have an unlimited food budget, we found that eating out was very pricey, and we saved that for our dinner time meal and daily snack breaks. My older kids (19 and 20) were keen to explore on their own occasionally, so we requested a second key to the apartment, which Sam delivered to us promptly the next day.

The apt is conveniently located a short distance from the lovely rue Montorgueil, where we found the merchants to be welcoming and obliging to our humorous attempts to speak the french language, which none of us can do very well. The street was beautifully lit and decorated for the Christmas season.

There are several nearby Metro stations: Sentier, Bonne Nouvelle, Chatelet. We all got very competent at navigating through the metro and planning our days of sightseeing. On the streets, however, it is very easy lose your orientation. I suggest paying for a roaming package with data on a smart phone/device; we made good use of live, interactive maps on our journey. That being said, there is such fun and adventure 'getting lost in Paris'. We happened on a few amazing side streets where we found small cafes and shops that you just don't find walking the main roads.

Our list of MUST SEE sights:

- National Museum of Natural History

- Day trip to Chateau Versailles (leave EARLY in the day to beat the lineups)

- Montmartre: walk up the butte to the Basilica of Sacre-Coeur (stunning)

- Stand under the Eiffel Tower at night

- Ride the metro and make a point of getting off at random stops just to see

what you can see! We found the Bazaar at Hotel de Ville this way!

Thanks for your warm hospitality Sam! We will be back some day :)

Quaint apartment walking distance from the Louvre

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was perfect for us - our group consisted of three moms and three 10 year old girls. We each took a room and easily shared the bathroom. We were amazed at how big this little apartment felt even with all of us sitting in the living room. The walk upstairs was always a point of discussion and laughs after a long day of touring the city, but we all were able to get up there - we counted 113 steps. We mastered the metro and were able to get everywhere we wanted to go. On the way back to the apartment, we were always able to stop by one of the grocery stores on the way to pick up wine, bread, snacks for the girls, really anything we needed. Loved the guest book with all the helpful info and the guide/tour books available for us on the bookshelf. Thank you Samantha for allowing us to stay in your apartment and making this portion of our trip so simple,

Owner's Response: We love when guests have a fantastic holiday, really enjoy our apartment and its central location and live a true Parisian lifestyle. Thank you for your lovely review. When my four little ones grow I look forward to taking them on a cultural city break just like you did with your daughters and staying in an authentic apartment. We love when our guests return and hope that you may do too. Kind regards, Sam

A 6th Floor Hide Away

  • 4 of 5

This unique Parisian apartment was truly a sixth floor hide away. The stair climb was a bit overwhelming, but the apartment itself was a truly comfortable place to return after a hectic day. Decorated in what I imagine to be a true Parisian style, the small apartment offered rooftop views of other buildings in the area as well as a small kitchen and living room area for relaxing before going to bed. The owner of the apartment provided detailed instructions about the space, but failed to provide the correct entrance number to get into the building; we had to ask another resident. The property was very close to the Metro station, and Paris provided all of the attractions and restaurants you could ever want or desire to visit within walking distance. I would highly recommend this apartment to families, couples, or friends venturing to Paris for a stay, but I would discourage the elderly or anyone with difficulty climbing stairs from staying here.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your lovely review. Yes the apartment is beautiful and the ultimate Parisian apartment with a spectacular view of intricate facades and the famous rooftops. - The building door code was in ‘transition’ of being changed and we gave both codes. Unfortunately the family put the two codes together. They rang us on the phone and entered the building. - We have had many guests in their sixties and seventies as you can read in our reviews. The beautiful spiral staircase and building are listed as is the building. The stairs are fortunately easy to climb as very wide and narrow.

Wonderful Apartment!

  • 5 of 5

What a perfect apartment in a wonderful location! Our family of 6 stayed here & we all agreed it was perfect. I still remember laying on the bed reading as the rain softly fell, with the (almost) floor to ceiling windows open & the church bells ringing in the distance.....Sam was also extremely helpful, providing us with useful tips & ensuring that when there was a small inconvenience someone was there to fix it. Along with a bottle of champagne! The Montorgueil area that the apartment is in let us enjoy a true Parisian experience. We all loved the Local boulangeries esp Stohrer's, the patisserie's & the chocolate's!! Our teenage daughter who is studying French enjoyed being able to order our baguettes every morning before we set off on our daily cultural adventure. The metro was also close by & easy to use, allowing us to visit Disney. The many stairs (114 I think) ensured that we worked off the delicious chocolate filled eclairs each day. I hope to stay here again one day & have no hesitation in recommending this gem of an apartment. Thanks Sam.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your super review. It is always a pleasure to host lovely families in our apartment and it sounds like you had a fantastic time and really made the most of your time in Paris and its surroundings. I agree the cake shops on Montorgeuil are absolutely delicious and the patisseries in Stohrer are out of this world!! .. and despite a daily intake of mouth watering chocolate eclairs you actually go back fitter than you arrived! It was a pleasure hosting you and we hope to see you all back soon in Paris. Warm regards, Sam & family

Perfect apartment for our family

  • 5 of 5

It was a perfect apartment for our family of 5. The location is very convenient, close to the metro station. Just 2 minutes away is the famous Kayser bakery that we were all addicted to. There are also convenience stores where you can buy food and other essentials. Fresh food stands also on Montergueil. The walk to the train station (Les Halles) to catch the train to the airport and Disneyland is quite easy.

The apartment is clean and has everything we need. Sam is always responsive to our e-mails and we really appreciate the convenience of checking in and out of the apartment in our own time. The 6 flight of stairs is a bit of a workout but we were grateful for it since we always had too much pastries :)!!

Thank you so much for hosting us. We had a wonderful time and definitely will be a trip that we will always remember.
