Local Facilities: The area caters for all - there are many beautiful local beaches all within a short drive and are all cleaned every day. For eating out everyone is spoilt for choice with the many bars and restaurants serving Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Indian and English. There is a Go-Kart centre a few minutes away, horse riding at 'The Ranch'. Golf is available on a choice of three top class golf courses all within a few minutes drive from the apartment and all with reasonable green fees, The Ramblas, Campoamar and Villa Martin famous for hosting the Spanish Open in 2000 and known as the best course in the Costa Blanca. All courses offer golf clubs and buggies for hire and a proper dress code is required. There is a fabulous activity centre within a few miles drive (leaflets in the apartment) hosting activities to suit everyone even for those of us who prefer to relax around the pool - hugely recommended! Featured on Designer Homes and is set in an absolutely spectaular setting!
Shopping: Shoppers will not be disappointed! There are two large modern shopping complexes with both English and Spanish shops and various restaurants, one on the road to Torrevieja near the hypermarket 'Carrefour' and another towards Murcia Airport. There are many local markets held on different days - the local one on a Saturday morning in Playa Flamenca is very popular (make sure you have plenty of time!). Another market (the other side of San Miguel - directions at the apartment) is held on a Sunday - this is more sheltered and there are facilities for sitting and drinking tea and toilets. A new centre has recently opened on site near the apartment including an 'Aldi' and English supermarket, internet cafe (brilliant) Beauty and Hairdressers and restaurants. There are many supermarkets, banks, pharmacies and specialist shops all within a short drive from the apartment.
Further a field: In Torrevieja - about 15 minutes drive away - there is Ten-Pin Bowling and a fantastic waterpark. At night there is a craft market along the seafront and on a Friday a large market (popular for it's fruit and veg! - there are also some good leather shoe stalls!!) At San Pedro there is Cinema showing English films! Alicante is a must to visit with an abundance of attractions within the city . Murcia is full of history. If you manage to pick-up one of the many free local papers (all in English) there are details of organised coach trips to local attractions.
