Beautiful Island house remodeled in 2013. Ideal location close to shops, restaurants and Captiva Village. Short two block walk to the beach and the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico, and a half block to the bay. We see dolphin and manatee in the bay all the time.
This home has ground floor living, so no stairs to climb everytime you come home from the beach. Sleeps 4 on ground floor with 3 more upstairs. Wonderful back yard completely private, with hot water rinse off shower for sandy feet. Parking for three cars.

Our family is very important and we like to come to Captiva to spend time with one another without the hurried stresses of life today.
Tom Terrill purchased this house in 1979
Captiva is a beautiful and quiet location to enjoy nature and have time to rest and relax
No need for a car. Everything is within walking distance. Beautiful beaches...both quiet sections and crowded sections depending our your desires....access to the water for pleasure boating, fishing and swimming as well as water sports is all within 100 yards from the home.
We spent Christmas week at the Island House. The place is charming, and has everything you need. If you're looking for luxury, this isn't for you - but if you are looking for charm, comfort, and cleanliness, with a cozy feel and pretty furnishings, it will be perfect. The living room is plenty big for everyone to be in and all have a seat (there were 6 or 7 of us at different times during the week). The downstairs was plenty big for our family of four (two grown children), and we had friends who stayed upstairs. This is the perfect set up for small families vacationing together where you can visit and eat together downstairs, but get some space once in a while. Tom is a wonderful owner, and was very very responsive and helpful. And once you are at the house, except for REAL grocery shopping (there is a general store right around the corner, but the real grocery is about 10 miles away), you won't need a car AT ALL. Everything is walking distance. We rented a golf cart for 6, and it was perfect for tooling around. This was our first time to Captiva, and we couldn't have been more pleased. It was the perfect family Christmas gift!
Great property, comfortable and quaint. My family of 5, with 3 boys 7, 9, and 12 thoroughly enjoyed the house and Captiva and surroundings. We stayed on the 1st floor and did it was perfect for us... if you have a larger family or extended family the upstairs seems terrific as well. It's a convenient short walk to Muddy Duck and other Andy Rosse establishments. The kitchen is well equipped, we utilized the backyard grill for several meals, walked over to the Bubble Room and RC Otters for lunches, and had marina facilities a few houses down at McCarthy's. A great value, a beautiful house. Thanks Tom!
Captiva is a great island getaway full of natural beauty, great beaches and peaceful sunsets. The Island House is located close to everything, yet is peaceful and quiet. We ditched the car for bikes cruised the island. Resturants, beach and kayaking are all within walking distance. Great place.
The Island House is everything that you see in the pictures with several good surprises. We were very pleased when we arrived to the house. The house was very clean for a rental, sometime rental homes are not so clean. The home also has pleanty of room to move about. We had 4 teenagers with us so we decided to rent the upstairs which was an exellent choice. The kids were so excited when they arrived, kind of like a trial run for college but mom and dad were right downstairs.
The house has beach towels, chairs, boogie boards and umbrella which saved us alot of room in our car along with everything else needed for the week. The outside was just as kept up as the inside was, very nice island curb appeal. We rented a golf cart which is not needed but with 6 of us it was nice to have so that we could haul all the beach stuff and run back and forth for whatever we needed.
Tom was so patient with all of my questions about the house and the island, he is very fast with his responses. This told me that he was very caring and that he probably cared for his house, which I was correct....he is in constant contact with you. Our friends rented a house down the road from us, they were not a lucky as us. The house was very dirty and not cared for at all. I would assume the owners do not vacation at the house so therefore it is not kept up like it should be.
I would highly recommend a vacation at the Island House, I know you will be very happy, as we all were!!!
Thank you Tom!!! Hope to come back very soon!!!
We three sisters spent two glorious weeks at Island House. This was our second visit and we found the home to be even more comfortable than our first stay. Tom and Jenni (the owners) have remodeled the master bath and front porch this year and both are quite lovely. The home has a very private backyard with an outdoor shower. This area is just perfect for sorting and cleaning shells collected on the beach. The kitchen is well stocked with all the usual amenities of home. The beds are very comfortable and living room furniture is cozy enough that you feel like you can just relax and unwind. We suggest that you pack light and utilize the full size washer and dryer. The home is incredibly close to the beach and popular restaurants, so you will find yourself leisurely walking most places. This property is ideal for families with young children or teenagers as well as for older adults just wishing for some peace and quiet. If you want safe, comfortable and affordable housing with beach access only a very short walk away then you had better book Island House quickly. This quaint little cottage is a true gem!! We had such a grand time that we're already planning our next visit for later this year! Thanks, Tom and Jenni for sharing your lovely home with us so that we could make some sweet memories together! We had a blast!!!
We found the Island House to be as advertised. Clean and welcoming. The newly added enclosed porch was perfect for coffee in the mornings. We loved the shell collection on display. The master bedroom sported a renovated bath and the bed was huge and comfortable. Most of the restaurants and shops are within walking distance, but there is plenty of parking space for two vehicles and a golf cart. We definitely enjoyed our stay.
Thanks Tom for being so accommodating.
