Relax and refresh at Island House!

We three sisters spent two glorious weeks at Island House. This was our second visit and we found the home to be even more comfortable than our first stay. Tom and Jenni (the owners) have remodeled the master bath and front porch this year and both are quite lovely. The home has a very private backyard with an outdoor shower. This area is just perfect for sorting and cleaning shells collected on the beach. The kitchen is well stocked with all the usual amenities of home. The beds are very comfortable and living room furniture is cozy enough that you feel like you can just relax and unwind. We suggest that you pack light and utilize the full size washer and dryer. The home is incredibly close to the beach and popular restaurants, so you will find yourself leisurely walking most places. This property is ideal for families with young children or teenagers as well as for older adults just wishing for some peace and quiet. If you want safe, comfortable and affordable housing with beach access only a very short walk away then you had better book Island House quickly. This quaint little cottage is a true gem!! We had such a grand time that we're already planning our next visit for later this year! Thanks, Tom and Jenni for sharing your lovely home with us so that we could make some sweet memories together! We had a blast!!!

Owner's Response: Juanita we are so glad to have you and your sisters back at Island House. Thank you for your detail in the review on our home. The remodeling does look good if I do say so myself, and we look forward to future plans to keep improving the house.

PERFECT LOCATION!

We found the Island House to be as advertised. Clean and welcoming. The newly added enclosed porch was perfect for coffee in the mornings. We loved the shell collection on display. The master bedroom sported a renovated bath and the bed was huge and comfortable. Most of the restaurants and shops are within walking distance, but there is plenty of parking space for two vehicles and a golf cart. We definitely enjoyed our stay.

Thanks Tom for being so accommodating.

Owner's Response: Thank you Roger. I'm so glad when people come in November. The weather is still great and the crowds small. The Island has a nice, slow paced feel then, and one can really enjoy Captiva in a different way.

Lovely house

This was the perfect house for us!

We wanted to enjoy the sea and the sun after some intense days at the parks of Orlando and looked forward to having everything within walking distance (we're from Sweden in Scandinavia and not used to take the car for everything). We also wanted to cook for ourselves after having had all meals at restaurants for almost a week. We made a stop at a Publix in Fort Myers on our way to the house and didn’t have use the car during our stay.

When we arrived we found that the gas container for the outdoor grill was empty and there was no frying pan big enough to fry our steaks. Everything worked out fine as we could have dinner just around the corner at Key Lime Bistro and the next morning we called American Realty and when we came home from the beach they had changed the gas and left a new frying pan, great service!

We were a bit worried that our daughters (7, 11 and 13) would miss a pool but they did not ask for that once during our week at Island house. We were all perfectly happy on the beach with the dolphins swimming by several times every day, the jumping stingrays, the beautiful shells and of course the sunsets.

The house was so close to the beach that we went back for lunch and then stayed on the beach until sunset.

We really appreciate Tom being so accommodating and enthusiastic about our visit. An example is the flexibility with the upstairs apartment. If our girls had been just a little bit older it would have been great for them but this time downstairs was just perfect.

We would absolutely recommend this house!

Owner's Response: Daniel so glad your family enjoyed their stay. I appreciate your European perspective for our guests, and as well to share how quickly we respond to issues that need to be addressed.

We really want everyone to enjoy Captiva and our home as much as we do!

Captiva Gem!

Charming, clean, comfortable, and convenient are words that describe this historic home on Captiva Island. This charming home is impeccably clean! The main level of the home has a spacious and well-decorated living room, cheery eat-in kitchen with all amenities, three bedrooms with very comfortable beds, two full baths with plush towels, a convenient laundry room, and enclosed, air conditioned porch. The accommodations are very, very comfortable; all contributing to a relaxing environment in which to enjoy the island, family and friends and to unwind.
The bright upstairs apartment of this lovely home is equally charming with a living room, cute kitchen complete with a sky light, full bath, and bedroom. It sleeps an additional 3 people, and is a perfect retreat for those who like to go to bed a little earlier or later than other family members.
This Captiva gem is conveniently located in a quiet neighborhood near the intersection of Andy Rosse Lane and Captiva Drive, the heart of Captiva. Once arriving, no car is needed. The beach, two marinas, restaurants and many activities are within easy walking distance. Be sure to dine at the Mucky Duck and the Green Flash, and save room for Key Lime pie at Key Lime Bistro. Meander over to McCarthy's marina at sunrise to watch the day dawn and catch a glimpse of manatee along the shoreline. Then stroll to the beach to look for keepsakes from the Gulf - excellent shelling every day! Spend time relaxing at the beach, splashing in the warm Gulf waves, and keeping an eye open for almost-daily dolphin sightings. For an adrenaline rush consider parasailing with YOLO Watersports, or for a quieter, but equally fulfilling, excursion rent a kayak from McCarthy’s Marina. Both are a short walk from this cozy home. Finally, no evening would be complete without watching a breath-taking sunset on the beach.
The Island House is truly the gem of Captiva! You will enjoy relaxing in the captivatingly charming, impeccably clean, comfortably appointed, and conveniently located home-away-from-home!

RELAX!!!!!!

First of all, I'd like to thank Tom (the owner) for being so accommodating. The house was exactly what I wished for- comfortable, nice, CLEAN, and the perfect location. It was easy to relax and with plenty of options for activity. The house is located in the perfect location close to the water, restaurants, a market, and shoppes. We felt like we were in our own piece of paradise. We even saw dolphins, manatees, and a bunny rabbit.....Did I mention Dolphins in the Sunset? The house was spotless, and met my standards (of what some call me OCD). Thank you Tom for sharing your lovely home with us. We will be back. By the way, I loved the art displayed throughout the house- I can see your family is a lot of fun and artistic.
