Local Attractions:
Thuir is set at the foot of Mount Canigou with it snow capped peaks. Thuir is a bustling market town which boasts a wealth of character. There are many shops and a super market all within walking distance of the house. There are local attractions such as the Caves Byrrah home of the largest oak wine vat plus travelling attractions in the town square during the summer months. Within an hours drive you can visit villefranche de conflet, Font Romeu,St Thomas le Bain (open air natural spring), Ceret and Castelnou a beautiful walled village just 5 mins up the road!! There is a market in the town on a Saturday in Castelnou on a Tuesday. If you fancy being more adventurous, there is a wealth of watersports at the beaches and a large waterpark just 20 mins drive away or if you fancy a quieter holiday you can visit the mountains which is aprox 1 hours drive away for skiing during the season or you can catch the yellow train at Villefranche de Conflet (breathtaking views en route)

Shopping:
Markets in Thuir on a Saturday and Castelnou on a Tuesday. Larger shops at Portes of Spain where there is a Hypermarket plus other shops this is about 15 min away. Perpignan great shops about 20 min away, well worth a look around the arab quarter and a mooch around the castellet.
