Wally-Gator and the Boys
Originally from West Virginia, I now reside in GA with my 2 teenage sons. We looked in several areas of Florida and found just the right spot. My experience as a remodeling contractor allowed me to take on the major renovation needed to bring my beach villa/condo back to life. I hope you feel right at home here as do my boys and I.
I have always loved the beach since my first visit to Daytona at 2 years old, and the euphoria of hang gliding on the dunes at Nags Head at 14. Something about the ocean and beach renew my spirit. My favorite time is from 5PM till dusk, when sunbathers and beachcombers begin the exodus, leaving me to my own private ocean. Warm sand, cool breeze, lapping waves, setting sun, and the good lord above, calm my soul.
'...every little thing gonna be alright'
We love the quiet beaches and tranquil setting beneath old growth live oaks of the maritime forest. What really impressed me is the friendly nature of the local residents and business owners. This area is rich in history, from the days of swashbuckling buccaneers anchored in the harbor and Historic Civil War era Fort Clinch to the wild horses of Cumberland Island, still roaming the beaches centuries after the Spanish Conquistadors abandoned them. Fernandina Beach competes with St. Augustine for bragging rights, each claiming to be 'the' oldest in the US. While St. Augustine was the economic and political capital for the Spanish King, Fernandina Beach was the hideout for black market operatives and thieving pirates who traveled up the St. Mary's River to avoid Spanish Authorities
We love the private yard off the large back deck and the fountain pond out front. Our buildings convenient proximity to the pool is great when it's time for lunch, snack or drink. Our kids ride bikes and go to the playground in a safe setting. Now that they are teens, going to the beach solo or back to the condo is a breeze without worry about traffic or crowds.
