Mixed Reviews - August 2009

Our 5th time to the fantastic island of Gozo. This was the first time that we’ve stayed on this side of the island. The Henrika is clean and spacious and fairly well equipped, but being a new build has no real character or charm - something that we all missed. The owners of the villa next door were very approachable and didn’t mind when our ball went over the wall a couple of times or when we blocked their car in with ours because the parking is an issue. There are three villas out of the five or six villas that are completed and we feel that if all of the remaining villas were also finished then the noise level created by holiday makers may have been more of a problem. As it was, the road alongside the villa’s location is quite a busy road and carries a fair few lorries too and fro. My mother who had the downstairs room (with a view of a brick wall, incidentally!) found this to be very disruptive at 7am in the morning.
On a more positive note Doris the house maid is an absolute star, bringing us, amongst other things, grapes and prickly pears directly from her garden. We will definitely be going back to visit Doris, but sadly perhaps not the Henrika.

Owner's Response: Thank you Liza. I am sure that you were aware that villa Henrika was a new built on a traditional design when you booked online. Regarding the parking - there is a three car garage with a remote operated door twenty meters away which was available . All other reviews comment favorably about the quiet atmosphere that the villa offers. There are only two villas left unsold. These will not necessarily be rented out when and if sold and like the others may be bought for personal use and seldom lived in, incidentally like the one next to Henrika which is used three weeks yearly. I feel that the comment regarding the noise is purely speculative and out of context. The downstairs bedroom was designed for elderly and disabled people and unlike you, many of those who stayed at the villa were thankful for this facility. I also thought that you would give a description of the lovely views of Gozo’s countryside that you surely enjoyed from the other four bedrooms.
Thanks good Day
Paul
