The former home of author A.A.Milne's real life character Christopher Robin, the self-catering cottage is set in a picturesque valley, a short walk down a delightful lane from Blackpool Sands with its excellent beach cafe and shop and 3/4 mile from the nearest pub and shop. It provides a wonderful location for a family summer holiday rental and is also a romantic getaway for couples outside of the peak summer months. Good sized rooms are comfortably and tastefully furnished to a high standard with a wood-burning stove in the sitting room. French windows lead on to a patio and a 3/4 acre wildlife garden carpeted with daffodils and bluebells in the Spring. The cottage has been awarded a FOUR STAR Visit Britain Quality in Tourism Rating. An arrangement with the nearby Dartmouth Golf & Country Club (10/15 minutes drive) enables guests to use their leisure club (including swimming pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and gymnasium) and two golf courses at a 25% discounted rate.

  • All prices are quoted for 7 nights (Sat-Fri). A deposit of 20% of the rental will be required for bookings over 1 month away. Otherwise payment in full. Rental rate includes electricity. Towels and sheets can be ordered at a charge of £10 per person per week. Weekend breaks (3 nights Sat- Mon) and Mid-week breaks (4 nights Tues-Fri) can be arranged at a cost of 80% of full weeks rate. Towels and bed linen charged at full week rate. Electricity included. A deposit of 20% of the rental will be required for bookings over 1 month away. Otherwise payment in full.

What a beautiful cottage ! We only spent 4 days there but had a wonderful time . We toured around the local countryside and had wonderful lunches each day at different restaurants ( there were so many to choose from ) returning to the cottage in the evening and relaxing with a bottle of wine or two around the fire . The cottage had a very homely feel and I'm sure we will be back .

Magical Bluebells and spring flowers in April

Staying in Alice Cottage in April we found an unexpected treat in the garden - camelias, azaleas and hellibores with bluebells and rhodedenrons.

The fact that we could walk down a quiet lane to Blackpool Sands without the need for a car with a 3 and 6 yr old was an added bonus.

A truly wonderful place to stay.

Xmas getaway

A group of 4 of us rented out Alice Cottage over the Xmas holidays, looking to get away from the city. It is in a wonderful location, that feels off-the-beaten path without being too isolated. It has a wonderful natural plot of land out the back, and pleasant country roads for on-foot exploration (though often hilly, alas!). Blackpool Sands is an easy walk away, as is Stoke Fleming.

Also a great place for exploring Devon by car, with the picturesque Dartmouth close by, and the Dartmoor national park a short trip away.

Amenities are all perfectly acceptable, the cottage is clean, and we made ourselves quite cosy upstairs in the very functional kitchen, cooking and baking Xmas treats, and enjoying the old school video collection in the living room. Do keep your blankets with you in the Winter though!

The owners were very accessible and friendly to deal with, and were kind enough to supply a Xmas tree (and a couple of greeting cards) for us.

Last but not least, it's dead quiet at night, which is great if you're after tranquility. Recommended.

Alice cottage is really a excellent place to enjoy your holiday.
The cottage is lovely with a nice garden, a good startingpoint for discovering Devon ald also the South West coastpath is nearby.
It's only a short walk to the Blackpool Sands for a good swim.

Perfect spot for rest and relaxation. A picturesque 20 walk down the lane brings you to the lovely Blackpool Sands beach. Great location for access to all nearby towns and villages and Torbay area. Very well appointed cottage with everything you need for your stay. Excellent communications with the cottage owners who couldn't be more helpful. We hope to be back again soon.
