Cayman Bay Escape was perfectly suited for our 4 couple dive club! We have been to Cozumel, Isla Mujeres, Bonaire, Belize and Roatan and this was everyone's favorite spot!!! The kitchen has all the necessary equipment. The dining room, TV room and outside living space is perfect for 8 people. The pool deck is huge and we were able to lay out all of our dive gear easily to dry. THere is also an outside shower to rinse off the equipment. The bedroom with the twin beds was easily transformed into a kingsize bed and the bathroom was located just across the hallway. The other bedrooms/bathrooms were very private on either side of the house and the cottage was perfect for one of our couples. The diving off the property is first class. We saw huge Moray eels, lobster, tons of Lion Fish, and other beautiful fish, corals, sponges, sea urchins...the list goes on...The pool was lovely to sit around and watch both the sunrise and sunset. Michael was easily accessible before our trip for multiple questions. The manager, Barbara, was easily accessible by the home phone. Marcia (sp?) came twice during our week stay to wash sheets and towels and freshen up the kitchen. The island is very friendly and safe. We dove with Deep Blue Divers in town and the 15 minute drive each morning was totally worth it. Nick runs a first class dive operation and Sunny was our favorite boat captain and dive master. Nick provided an almost private boat for our group because we don't like to dive with a large number of people at the same spot. We got to swim with Fin the nurse shark and watch Sunny hunt Lion Fish and feed them to the Snapper! The Spotted Eagle Rays were magnificent, as well as the turtles. We saw lobster, huge crabs, huge Moray eels and smaller Brown eels. THe angel fish and other fish and corals, sponges were spectacular! Can you tell that I am having a difficult time finding the adjectives to describe our vacation!?! *smile* A few things to remember, supposedly your US car insurance will not cover you in GRand Cayman, so if you want insurance it about doubles the price of the car. Also, using a cell phone is very expensive...so check you plans before you arrive. Fosters or Kirks grocery were fine for shopping. The restaurants are pretty expensive so come prepared. We found the Sunshine Grill to have fantastic burgers, fish sandwiches for a reasonable price. There is also Pizza Hut and CHicken/Chicken for take out and cheaper dinner. WIFI was great!
We are two close families from Baltimore, who have traveled the Caribbean together for years. This was our first Grand Cayman trip. We each have have two adventurous adolescent children.
Our expectations for a vacation villa were far exceeded at CaymanBayEscape. The owner, Michael, gave us hints as to restaurants, water sports, scuba diving, car rental, and tennis. When we arrived, the house was meticulously clean, with friendly maids greeting us. My wife loved the kitchen in its complete set of pots, pans, and dishes-not to mention the barbecue.
Our teenagers were thrilled to be able to snorkel from our backyard (we worried if they would like the charm of being secluded). Two of the adults, scuba dove from the backyard. There is a 65ft and 85 ft wall, as well as the North Wall directly in back-what a treat! We rented tanks at Cobalt Coast, a two minute drive from the villa.
The owner, Michael, told us that they just renovated the home for their daughter's wedding reception later that month. So the pictures on the website did not do the villa and its property justice, because we found everything was freshly furnished, painted and landscaped.
Wow! The vistas from each the dining room, bedrooms, and cottage were breath-taking. Each morning, we walked down to the ocean to sip coffee, watching a sunrise-then, and during a few evenings, walked to the ocean, sipping cocktails, as we enjoyed a spectacular Caymanian sunset.
This was an awesome value for two families. We have, therefore, booked another week in January, 2015-the calendar was filling up fast-and we got a 25% discount.
I can't tell you how wonderful my vacation was at your property. I was there over Memorial Weekend week and brought my entire family for a much needed vacation of snorkeling, relaxing, laying by the pool, barbecuing, and just taking quiet walks in the area. We did that and more! We had the most memorable family reunion and we utilized every space on the property including the fantastic guest house that the older kids could call their own space. We had plenty of room for all the cars to park and get in and out with the circular drive. We cooked in the kitchen and enjoyed the areas to have dinner at home. The local restaurants were fantastic as well. The property was so well maintained, clean and everything worked great. We enjoyed taking walks in the area and felt very safe. The pool was beautiful and we enjoyed laying out daily. I don't know how I can thank you enough for the wonderful experience. I've told many of my friends, and one I know will be contacting you for future booking. We will be back and probably take some friends next time, and do some more local activities. But your home was perfect and loved the area and how beautiful it was. Thanks again. We will be in touch for future trips back.
CaymanBayEscape far exceeded our expectations of a great, private oceanfront home and villa for our family of seven. Booking a hotel would have cost us three timesas much.
This spacious villa was secluded, but not remote (14 minutes from the airport on the new By Pass Highway) and ten minutes to Camana Bay (the new shopping area).
When we first entered the villa and saw the blue Caribbean that we had all to ourselves, our eyes popped out. Each morning we would have coffee and watch the sunrise-and, in the evenings, have a cocktail and watch the sunset. There are French doors in the two master bedrooms that have panoramic views of the ocean-as well as the cottage. We are seasoned snorkelers and divers, and would rent tanks, dive off the back ladder, and have the most astounding dive in this protected marine park (eels, stingrays, parrot fish, and turtles). We drove three minutes to rent our tanks at Di-Tech.
The five star restaurants that were close by are amazing: Calypso Grill, Pappagallos, Osetra, and Morgans Harbor-are no more than a 10 minute drive. Horseback riding was a five minute drive. My two kids are runners are had a great time running along the ocean on the way to Cobalt Coast.
We had searched online for days to find this gem and booked it again for next year at a 25% discount. This is, by far, one of the most memorable vacation that our family has. Why? We were together in this spacious, very clean, spectacular ocean front villa-and felt like we live here-not tourists!
Our week at this home on the beach in Cayman is one of 3 vacations in my life that I did not want to come home from!!! We had 4 couples share the home and found the accomodations to be VERY comfortable. The house was very clean and well maintained, but the photos do not capture the charm and relaxing ambiance of this home.
The poolside veranda was phenomenal for laying in the sun and reading, our post-lunch pina colada hour, and champaign and snacks for sunset every evening. The kitchen was well equipped for our group of food lovers who ate in almost as much as we went out. We found he Cracked Conch restaurant to be a special place with great food (and this was not an easy group to impress when it comes to food).
We strongly recommend taking up the host, Michael, on his recommendations for local diving (DiveTech was within walking distance for both great shore diving and Cobalt Coast for boat dives) and a local boat captain, JP, who got our vote for the friendliest and most accomodating man on Cayman. JP took us on a fantastic afternoon tour to Stingray City, Rum Point, and a couple of other beautiful beaches. His boat was quite comfortable for all 8 of us, and he provided some excellent recommendations for not too well known local "must sees". I suggest you book a day or half-day with JP early in your vacation.
This house was very private, but a quick walk / drive to about anything you could want on the island. We spent a lot of time out by the pool / beach with music playing on the house system that accomodated one of our gang's iPod. We also spent a lot of time beach walking on the beach to the northwest (right as you are looking out to the sea in the photos). We saw less than 10 people all week, just to give you an idea of the secluded privacy this home affords you.
Everyone in our group said this was a "Bucket List" vacation. We are sure you will find it to be one also. I am pretty certain we will be going back soon. My only concern is "Can it be as good the second time around???"
Dear Michael and Family, our most hearfelt thanks for opening up your peaceful villa to us. What a relaxing week! The snorkeling out the back was unparalleled, and how we enjoyed the friendly iguanas, and awaking to the sweet dulcimers of bird songs each morning! Our son really enjoyed gathering coconuts and experiencing his first fresh coconut meat! The locals exhibited their very warm hearts to us, and in particular, they really took our 12 year old to heart. The Caribbean bakery a few minutes away would ask us if we would like to try the rock bread, (or whatever else was baking), ... and coming warm, straight from the baker's oven, what a delight! We immensely enjoyed dining at Papagallos...we give their seafood and melt in your mouth cheescake five stars...and my son greatly enjoyed Bogart perching on his arm! We drove around the island and again experienced such warmth from the locals! Stingray City with Red Sail at Rum Point is a must.....where else can you hold these special denizens of the sea in your arms..and feel them gently nuzzle you for squid treats?
We dearly hope to return again soon!
Warmest Regards to you and yours, Allison, Steve and Joshua
