Villefranche is a beautiful little town which has been used as the setting for a number of French and American films.
There is a marina and fishing harbour, as well as a citadel dating back to the 16th century and a small chapel, Chapel St Pierre, decorated by the french artist and writer Jean Cocteau in 1957. As you wander through the old town, along streets like the Rue Obscure, marvel at the unforgettable charm of this jewel of the Côte d'Azur. Villefranche also has plenty of shops, restaurants and cafés, as well as two beaches: one with pebbles and a larger one with sand.
Nice, Beaulieu and Monaco are not far away and can easily be reached by bus. The beautiful towns of Provence including St Paul and Vence are worth a trip into the back-country. During high season we recommend the open-air cinema within the walls of the citadel. Movie enthusiasts will certainly enjoy the sound of the sea in the background.
