Le Gelibert is a traditional stone farmhouse with adjoining barn, renovated & equipped to a high standard with a contemporary feel. Original oak beams, wood floors & stonework are complemented by pale terracotta & travertine style floorings. Exceptionally light & airy open plan dining & living areas in the former barn (freeview TV, DVD, bluetooth sound system and bar standard table football), adjoin a superbly equipped kitchen. All 4 bathrooms have a uniformly high spec (thermostatic showers, Grohe fittings). Master bathroom has 2 basins. 5 large bedrooms (2 ensuite). Outside, the large covered south-facing dining terrace with built-in BBQ, overlooks the pool & grounds. Set in picturesque countryside in a hamlet 1km from the village of Allemans (bakery), the property has an alarmed 10x5m salt system swimming pool with Roman End steps and over an acre of mainly lawned grounds, ideal for outdoor play. Pool lights for night swimming. Football goal, badminton & hammock provided.

Ground floor layout: The living, dining and kitchen areas covering an area of around 80 square metres, face south and open via double doors onto the large covered terrace. The living area has comfortable leather sofas and a log burning stove while the dining area has a large oak table seating 10. The light filled kitchen has east facing floor to ceiling glazed doors.The double sink, hob with extractor over,oven and fridge freezer are stainless steel with all kitchen worktops in beech. The large kitchen 'island' houses a comprehensive range of crockery, grocery storage cupboards and microwave.

From the kitchen, a door leads into a vestibule from which Bedroom 1, the utility room and Bathroom 1, and the stairs to Bedroom 5, are accessed. Bedroom 1(twin) was formerly the Salon and has a large fireplace. Bedroom 2 (double) is accessed via two steps from the living area and has large windows looking out over the garden. Bathroom 2 ensuite. An open oak staircase leads from the living area to the upper floor.

Upper floor layout: Accessed from the oak staircase are 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Bedroom 3, with views over the garden, has 2 single beds which can be made up as a 6' double if needed. Bathroom 3 is ensuite to this room.

Bedroom 4 (master) is very spacious, has a 5' double bed and retains interesting original cupboards built into the thick stone walls. There are large windows looking across fields to the flloodlit Romanesque church on the hill in the next village of Bertric Buree. This room adjoins the spacious master bathroom. There is a generous shower enclosure and the additional thermostatic hand shower on the bath is great for hair washing or bathing little ones.The twin basins with mirrors over, are set into a locally made oak plinth.

Outside: There is a large gated gravel driveway providing plenty of parking space. There is a built-in barbecue adjacent to the covered terrace.

PERFECT HOLIDAY HOUSE

This is a beautiful house offering the perfect environment for a fantastic holiday. It is spacious and well-equipped as is shown in the photos. The accommodation was great for our family of seven and gave us all more than enough space. The garden and pool (where we spent most of our time) were relaxing and peaceful and the terrace and barbecue were brilliant.
There is a lot to enjoy in the local area and after a day or morning away, this house is ideal to return to to relax.
From the moment I made my inquiry about booking the house, all my e-mails were answered promptly and efficiently.
I would not hesitate to recommend this house for a holiday.

FANTASTIC HOLIDAY HOME!

This is the second year that we have stayed at Le Gelibert and once more we were not disappointed!
The house has a perfect layout for a small or large groups. It is clean and well maintained with all necessary equipment to cook a banquet or a light snack! All the bedrooms are comfortable and my two boys love the attic bedroom - a place for them to sneak away to. The pool is a lovely size and this year we put the lights on and went swimmng in the dark - amazing!
After a week of lazing around the pool and playing sport in the lovely garden we managed to drag ourselves away to visit the surrounding area. There are many places to visit and resturants to eat in. Chez Fred in Allemanans was a great place to watch the world go by! The whole family would recommend the canoing starting from Riberac (Run by extremely friendly people!) and a visit tio Perigueux is a must.
We had a fantastic holiday and really love this house and would highly recommend it!

WONDERFUL PROPERTY

Having stayed in a number of French properties, this has to be one of the best! The photographs on the websites do not do it justice! Le Gelibert is very well equipped with lovely gardens and a fantastic pool. The house itself is finished to a very high standard and is spacious for up to 10 guests. The local town (Riberac) is close by with a number of shops and supermarkets with a large lively market on a Friday. We would highly recommend this for families with children due to the spacious house, grounds and pool - we visited with 6 children and they absolutely loved the space, facilities and freedom! The owners and caretakers were extremely effecient and helpful.

WONDERFUL HOLIDAY AT LE GELIBERT!

We have spent many great holidays staying in houses in France, but Le Gelibert is definatly the best so far!
The house is very comfortable, well maintained, clean and fully equiped for every eventuality! We loved the large open plan kitchen, dinning room and lounge. Every bedroom is large and beautifully presented with modern bathrooms (the main bathroom is gorgeous!) The kids adored the attic bedroom with the stripped bedding! The house can easily cater for ten people, but it was equally suitable for our party of five.
The outside area is fantastic - great shaded terrace and barbeque for outdoors eating and the pool is wonderful and very clean and has a shallow and a deep end. As the weather was so good while we were there we spent most of the time relaxing by the pool or playing in the large private garden.
Le Gelibert is in a beautiful part of France, surrounded by fields of sunflowers, with many attractions close by - Brantome is a beautiful town and definatly worth a visit, as is Aubeterre sur Dronne. A lovely village with a lake and beach.
There are many resturants and cafes a short drive away, and two supermarkets just a 10 minute car journey in Riberac.
We loved staying at this house and were able to relax completely and certainly didn't want to come home!! If you want to be a little more energetic there is plenty of places to canoe locally. We would definitly recommend a holiday here! We enjoyed it so much we are going to book again for next year!

LOVELY FAMILY HOLIDAY!

Great house for families because of the space, both inside and outside. Loads of room for playing, swimming, eating and sleeping and all with stunning views across the countryside. In easy distance of local eateries and supermarkets so you'll find everything you need - but you will need a car. Would highly recommend.

The 10 minute drive to Riberac descends through fields of sunflowers and maize, groves of walnut trees and orchards to the valley of the Dronne. Riberac has hypermarkets, a wide range of shops and an excellent Friday market for fresh food (including fantastic fresh fish) and local produce. Restaurants ranging from the cheap and cheerful to the sophisticated lie within 5 to 15 minutes drive as does horse riding, canoeing, tennis and golf. There are some pretty walks and bike rides along local lanes and tracks straight from the house. Local sightseeing includes the delightful village of Aubterre, the castle of Bourdeilles and the abbey at Brantome while a little further away are the vineyards of St Emilion and Pomerol and the towns of Bergerac and Perigueux. Bordeaux is well worth a day trip as is Futuroscope (French theme park) and Vallee des Singes (close encounters with monkeys large and small).

TV provides UK Freeview channels via satellite. There is a small collection of CDs to go with the CD player and a selection of local guide books and maps. Our particular holiday game is table football so we have a bar-standard table. There are many other board and parlour games along with lots of paper and crayons. We have equipped Le Gelibert for use by our own family and we'd like you to enjoy it as we do! Kitchen well equipped for family catering. SMEG 5 burner gas hob and electric oven, blender, coffee plunger etc. Inside is a large oak dining table seating 10 plus highchair for 2-6 year old. On the terrace there is a large hardwood table with chairs to seat 12. For use at the poolside are 6 sunbeds, 2 chairs and 2 sunshades. Utility room has washing machine, dryer and drying rack, iron and ironing board. There is a washing line in the garden. The house has oil-fired hot water and central heating and has been completely re-plumbed and re-wired. Smoke alarms fitted.
