This is NOT an apartment or house on the same property as another. It is a private residence on .75 acres of paradise and comes with golf cart transportation.

For less than the cost of one nice hotel room you and your family can stay in a house with a huge deck, large living room and explore a beautiful island via golf cart!

'Boat qualified' guests may rent our 19 foot Mako. But you do not need a boat to enjoy Water Island. The ferry is very accessible and reliable.

WEB SITE LINK IS BELOW JUST ABOVE PICTURES--THIS HAS MUCH INFO AND ADDITIONAL PICTURES--PLS CLICK ON TO SEE

The house sits on the crest of Water Island so there is plenty of breeze. The house faces St. Thomas providing a sparkling night-time view while still having a view to open water to the left of the deck. The house is a spacious 1600 square feet. The deck is a very large (and private) 750 square feet. The setting is very tropical. On the deck you will have the view and the breeze all to yourself.

Slow Mocean has 2 large bedrooms. The pink master bedroom (on the water side) has a new king size bed, sitting area, closet, dresser, private access to a bathroom, and private access to the deck.

The yellow second bedroom has a queen bed and an extra single mattress for extra sleeping space if needed. It works well for children or a second couple. It has two dressers and private access to the bathroom. It also has a private door to the outside. Just outside this door is an outside shower so you can rinse off before entering the house.

There is a 3rd 'sleeping area' (separate from the living room) with a double futon if needed.

Guests enter the house into the yellow living area. This area is large with plenty of sitting space. The TV is in this room. There are wonderful views from thru the sliding glass doors. The sliding doors lead to the deck.

The blue kitchen ajoins an inside dining area and another sitting area. The kitchen is fully outfitted with dishwasher, disposal, UV water filter, microwave, toaster oven--everything you need. The dining are opens to the deck. The sitting area has a futon couch. The futon converts to a double bed for extra sleeping space. There is a second full bath off the blue sitting area. The telephone is in this blue sitting area as is the wireless internet equipment.

The huge deck runs the entire length of the water side of the house. It has an outside dining area, sunning area, shade to sit in, and a place to hang wet clothing. The view is wonderful day and night.

There is a washer /dryer. There are also noodles and other water flotations available in the storage area.

Water Island is the perfect place to experience the Caribbean away from the crowds. However, St. Thomas is only a five minute ferry ride away so you can shop or visit restaurants if you want. The ferry docks at Crown Bay Marina on St. Thomas, which has a dive shop, internet office, restaurant, and grocery store. We provide a fully furnished house and a golf cart for transportation. We will provide you information you need about the island so you can fully enjoy your stay in paradise.

Beautiful beaches are just a short fun golf cart ride away. Much of Water Island is dedicated green space. There are beautiful natural island palm forests. Driving around the island allows you to see many great vistas, interesting animals and plants. Snorkling off Honeymoon beach is good. Just walk right in! Honeymoon Beach provides covered shady sitting areas with chairs, and privacy. There are other beaches on the island that are good exploring, shell hunting beaches. We will provide a map of the best places to swim, snorkle, shell hunt or be alone.

Honeymoon Beach is the large sandy public beach. It is a beautiful beach. Although never crowded there is usually something going on at Honeymoon Beach. Heidi cooks lunch during the week and dinner on Saturday nights. Often a small boat of cruise ship guests will appear for a couple of hours for a day excursion. Joe's Beach Bar makes frozen drinks and offers other refreshments on the beach.

My property manager will meet you at the WI ferry dock, take you to the house and be available for questions or issue that might arise during your stay.

Slow Mocean is within 100 yards of Palm Cottage. If you have a large group or two families who want to stay close by each other these properties would work well together. Go to 'other rental properties' below or go back to VRBO listing and look at Palm Cottage.

Please take a look at the picture link below for pictures of the house and island. Email with any questions.

About Beth

My husband and I live in North Carolina. We visit Water Island whenever we can. When we are not there we share it with friends, family and guests.

Beth purchased this house in 2005

Why Beth chose Water Island

We purchased Slow Mocean in 2005. We visited many other islands on vacation over the years. We love the USVI because the islands are mountainous. It is amazing to see the islands rise out of the blue sea. Beaches are interesting--not just flat and sandy. The highest elevation of Water Island is about 300ft. The makes for great views, and great breezes. We liked Water Island because it is not crowded, is safe, has no traffic and has beautiful beaches.

What makes this house unique

Slow Mocean is well located on Water Island. It has a private location, large lot and great view. The layout is very flexible for family or groups. The deck is private for sunning, reading and dining. We furnished the house to suit us--so I think it will suit most visitors. It is not just a rental property it is our second home.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The house was amazing. It is so bright and cheery. The kids loved watching the cruise ships at night from the deck. The lights were so sparkly. It rained only one night. I would not change a thing. I did not expect the house to be so private. You have made it feel very much like a home--not a rental. Lovely house and island.

Paradise Found Here At Water Island

  • 5 of 5

It is the perfect balance of pure serenity, astonishing beauty, pristine beaches, crystal clear water and welcoming locals! Just a ferry ride away from shopping and attractions. I’ve travelled all over the world and island life has never been more appealing than at Water Island. From the moment you arrive you are whisked away by boat to an island retreat. Randy, the property manager is wonderful! We were given the tour of the island, home, golf cart, insights into the best snorkeling areas, food and drinks! The beaches are among the best in the world known for world class snorkeling, fishing or scuba diving.

We were so impressed by the size and charm of the home as it is fully furnished along with all necessary snorkeling, towels, rafts and life jackets. We just needed to pack our clothes – what a treat!

The home is perched high on the mountain with magnificent views, surrounded by lush landscaping filled with hummingbirds, butterflies and turtles. I felt comfortable in the home as it offered a perfect view, an easy golf cart ride to the beach, drinks, dinner or entertainment. It was airy, quiet, offering spacious rooms, full kitchen and large deck to relax and enjoy the spectacular views!

The huge private deck overlooks scenic hills, sailboats and spectacular sunsets you won’t want to miss! A golf cart is included and walking is so pretty!

We stayed in Slow Mocean boasting the largest deck on the island which had views that reached for miles. Each morning we had our coffee watching the cruise ships at St. Thomas, the sailboats and ferry. Slow Mocean is the largest of the homes fit for a family with plenty of space for everyone.

I would recommend this home to anyone looking for the perfect island getaway. I thought the prices were very reasonable and the home far exceeded any expectation. The island is centrally located so next time we are going to use it to visit many of the other local islands including St. John and Puerto Rico. When going to Water Island don’t miss the local favorites: drive-in movie night (with your golf cart) on the beach Monday night, Wednesday nights is Bingo (plus the pizza is really good), and the dinner on the weekend. The food is all local and amazing (very reasonable as well).

We Loved Slow Mocean

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I love to travel with our two young children. This house and island were the perfect vacation. We think it might have been one of the best vacations ever. The Island is safe, un-populated and beautiful. Beth, the owner, was accessible and friendly and answered all of our questions before we arrived. We arrived on St Thomas by plane and called the property manager of Slow Mocean and let him know which ferry we would be arriving on. He and his wife met us at the dock and helped us get our family, luggage and groceries up to the house and gave us a quick tour and then left us with keys to the house and golf cart. From the moment we stepped foot on Water Island everything was easy and laid back. The house is beautifully furnished in a comfortable island style with great art. The two bedrooms are adjoined by a large Jack-n-Jill bathroom. Both bedrooms had nice furniture and very comfortable beds. The Living Room has a set of huge glass doors that looks out over St. Thomas. You truly can not grasp how serene and beautiful the view from the deck is from pictures. I drank my coffee out there every morning and enjoyed dinner and wine out there every night.

The island is very easy to explore by golf cart. We explored several beaches, but Honeymoon was by far the best. We would go early in the morning and stake our claim to one of the umbrellas and put our cooler and lounge chairs out for the day. We stayed at the beach from 8-4 everyday. This would normally seem impossible with two children ages 6 and 8 but it was dreamy. The water is as clear as a swimming pool with no current or waves. You can see down the entire beach from any spot so the children could swim and roam and swing on rope swings. We ate lunch at Heidi's several times. Her food is fresh and delicious. We snorkeled with Sea Turtles and pretty fish all right within the swimming area of the beach. We met several other families who were on the island and hung out with them during the day and had dinner parties in the evening. A couple things to know- Cruise ships bring day excursions over to Honeymoon beach. They only stay for an hour or so but it can get crowded. If you get your spot early enough to get a free lounge chair from one of the bars they are not an issue and actually provide good entertainment.Lastly, before we went we thought we would need to leave Water Island to go on excursions to other islands so we wouldn't be bored. Not true. Don't plan anything. Just relax and enjoy!

Paradise in Slow Mocean

  • 5 of 5

Slow Mocean is the perfect name for this vacation home in paradise. We arrived at night and as soon as the front door was opened, the large sliding glass doors along the back of the home revealed a twinkling view of St. Thomas and the lights of the boats below. It was truly stunning and the perfect introduction to the home and the island.

My first day there I awoke before everyone else and just enjoyed looking at the quaint details in the home such as the colorful metalwork fish framing the arched doorway and the varied pieces of sea themed art, followed by some quiet time appreciating the lovely ocean views while sipping coffee on the expansive balcony. While sitting there I saw turtles and hummingbirds! When everyone awoke we loaded up the golf cart with snorkeling gear provided in the basement and headed to the beach. The snorkeling was amazing. My goal for the trip was to get some underwater footage of a sea turtle and I accomplished my goal on the first day!!! I have given the footage to the owner to share with you!

After hours of fun in the sun, you can stop by Dinghy's or Heidi's on Honeymoon beach for the best fish tacos (Heidi's) or fries (Dinghy's) around. Heidi's also has their famous Beachwacker drink that is a must try. Please eat first!

As others have mentioned, a day trip to St. Thomas for shopping is a must, but go when the cruise ships are in because that is when ALL the shops and kiosks are open and you will find the best deals. One day at St. Thomas for shopping was enough for me because I prefer the beauty and peace of being either at the beach or in Slow Mocean. Slow Mocean also has tons of rainy day amenities such as DVDs and games, but fortunately for us, we had 80 degree sunshiny days every single day of our stay so all of my time was at the beach. Coming home in the late afternoon and taking a nap under the fans with the trade winds blowing was so calming. My bed was extraordinarily comfortable as well. I slept, not like a baby because they only sleep for a couple of hours at a time, but more like the dead! There was no waking me from the soundness of my Slow Mocean sleep.

All in all, the trip was truly a paradise. Slow Mocean is the perfect place to stay in the perfect setting. There is a reason everyone gives it 5 stars:)

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed your honeymoon in Slow Mocean on Water Island. The island is nice and quiet in October. Private beaches and lots of sunshine. Just like our own "private island". Please visit again. We have guests who return year after year to celebrate anniversaries. Sometimes the "off season" is the best season.

Water Island is (a)never never land (b)fantasy island (c) the garden of eden. The answer is (d)all of the above! We lived for three weeks on, what felt like, our own private island.

We have cruised all over the world and stayed in hotels around the globe, and never had an experience like this. From the million dollar views to the air temperature that seemed to be set to "perfection" every day was paradise. Slowmocean was beautiful, but comfortable like being in your own home. All the neighbors and permanent residents are warm and friendly. Cheers to Water Island!

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed your stay in Slow Mocean. The deck of the house gives full advantage to the wonderful views. The house is set up to feel like a home away from home. Please visit again!

Car: not necessary

There are scheduled 'events' on Water Island. Heidi cooks dinner on Honeymoon Beach on Saturday nights during high season. It is lovely. Monday nights a 'drive in' movie is shown on a screen tied between two palms on Honeymoon Beach. It is wonderful. Just pull up in your golf car. Heidi also cooks lunch on Honeymoon Beach most days. Joe's bar is in the far corner of Honeymoon Beach where you can order frozen drinks and others cool drinks. Activities may vary by season.
