Winter activities:
Apart from the glorious skiing, non-skiers can enjoy numerous toboggan paths, hiking skating, curling or ice hockey. The cog railway trip to the Jungfraujoch, at 11500ft the highest train station in Europe with ice sculptures and views over the Aletsch glacier field. Another memorable trip is the 3000 metre high Schilthorn revloving restaurant above Murren, famous as the setting for the James Bond movie. The lovely lakeside town of Interlaken is well worth visiting.
Summer and Autumn activities:
The Jungfrau region is a year round destination. The area offers numerous signposted trails of various difficulties and length, many also used for mountain-biking. Wengen is the central base for most summer activities. The Lauterbrunnen valley offers numerous waterfalls including the UNESCO Heritage Site Trummelbach falls. Wengen village offers tennis, skating, minigolf andmountain biking tours.
Ski:
The finish line for Wengen's world-famous Lauberhorn ski race in January is 200 metres from the chalet and is an event not be missed. The famous Mary's Cafe is the place to enjoy your gluewein. The Jungfrau ski area comprises Wengen, Murren ( with its James Bond mountaintop revolving restaurant) and Grindelwald, all accessed by cograilways or cable cars from the local Innerwengen ski chair to the Allmend rail stop. At the end of the day, challenge yourself to ski home down the Lauberhorn or relax on the adjacent red run.
