LA CAPANNA

Reggello Bungalow Rental Photos and Description

Well equipped accommodation, aircon, wonderful garden, spectacular views

Set in a small hamlet with spectacular views into the beautiful Pratomagno Mountains, the property includes an old stone house 'La Villetta', and a separate cottage 'La Capanna'. La Villetta consists of two fully self-contained apartments (with separate entrances) each sleeping up to five people. It may also be used as a single unit. La Capanna can accommodate six people.

Both buildings have recently been renovated so as to retain a traditional Tuscan character, and all three units have air conditioning and all necessary domestic facilities: fridge, freezer, washing machine, etc. There is a large garden with flowers, lawns, pergolas and BBQ. The owners' extensive website gives numerous photos of both buildings and of the surrounding area. Please email for the address of the website.

La Villetta: was bought as the owners' personal holiday home. La Capanna, the neighbouring property was acquired in 2003. Both properties offer an ideal and comfortable base for people who want to explore the beautiful area south of Florence, as well as the major cities and cultural centres. They might best be described as a simple and comfortable rustic dwellings, with many charming features, set in a spectacular position at the foot of the mountains; perfectly located for people wanting a mixture of sightseeing, walking, swimming, art galleries, restaurants, wine tasting, scenic travel or just relaxing in the garden.

Amenities: The nearest village, Cascia, has plenty of traditional shops for most basic necessities, as well as a modern supermarket, a dry cleaners and a bank and a splendid new open-air pool. It also has good restaurants and bars. Nearby towns have shops for more specialised requirements and there are many markets locally. Excellent wines and oil can be bought either from shops or directly from local producers.

For further information: The owner's website gives more extensive details of the house and area, and also several photos of the house and its surroundings.

'Thank you for sharing your fantastic house and garden with us. We've had one of our most memorable holidays to date. We've gone for bike rides, done walks from the house, been to all the main places...We've dined at some superb restaurants, drunk fine wines, barbecued many times in your garden (what a spectacular setting), seen the amazing fireflies...had a trip to The Mall (gulp) where I bought a beautiful leather bag for a fraction of the price I would pay here...can't wait to go again...perfect location for that area and all its wonderful sites and places to visit...Thank you again for a fantastic holiday.' 'We found our stay absolutely wonderful. The 'Suggestions Book' was truly excellent. It encouraged us to walk around the vicinity as well as visit the historic towns nearby. Neither of us wanted to leave by the end of our stay.' (A honeymoon couple, Worcestershire).

Perfect base to explore Tuscany

  • 5 of 5
We stayed in La Capanna for a week and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The property was well equipped , clean and ideal for exploring Florence, Sienna and Chianti area.

We travelled down to Reggello through France in our own car. It would be difficult, if not impossible, to explore without your own transport.

Florence (Firenze) was wonderful - our favourite place. A trip to Fiesole gave us stunning views over the city as well as being of great interest in itself.

We ate wonderful ice-cream in most of the places we visited. The quality of the ice-cream in San Gimignano was the best, but that in Reggello was a close second.

We've had a wonderful week and would stay in La Capanna again if we revisit the area.

For the REAL Tuscany - La Capanna is a must !!!

  • 5 of 5
I must say that we had the most wonderful time at ‘La Capanna’, so relaxing and quiet – exactly what we expected. We slotted straight into local life – early morning walk to the fruit and veg. shop in Cascia, buy some great produce, back to the villa, lunch outdoors, glass of wine, read a book in the sunshine, cook dinner, more wine and relax listening to music - BLISS. Thanks very much for the opportunity of sharing your holiday home, making a great holiday for my wife and I. We will certainly consider a return visit in the not too distant future.

More Than We Expected

  • 5 of 5
La Capanna has everything a person could hope for if you are looking for a cottage in the Tuscan countryside. It has all the amenities you need and its location in the tiny hamlet of Tallini is perfect.
The owners provided excellent service both by e mail and an excellent instruction booklet kept on the kitchen table in the cottage. They also provided suggestions for various places to visit and recommendations for shops and restaurants. This was very valuable as we were visiting Italy for the first time.
The cottage and garden was very clean and well maintained.I would highly recommend La Capanna or the adjacent apartments to friends and relatives.
We were at La Capanna from 04 Oct to 18 Oct/2010 and wished we could have stayed much longer. We used Italy's great train service to visit the larger cities and our rental car to go to as many of the smaller places recommended by Gwyn as we could.
We enjoyed everything we did in Italy but the small towns near our cottage,Casia and Reggello, along with the surrounding countryside would have been more than enough to make the trip wothwhile. We spent a good deal of our time in these two towns and in the hills above the cottage.
La Capanna is a dream cottage in an ideal location. We appreciate the owners trusting it to our care for a short time.

La Capanna

  • 5 of 5
We had a superbly relaxing and enjoyable two weeks holiday in late July 2010. The accommodation was excellent and the gardens were a delight to lounge in, either braving the heat or sitting in the shade. Location was great and a good base for Florence, the cities of Siena, Arrezo etc as well as a short distance from Chainti country. We found all the local restaurants to be very good and great value for money too. Vallombrosa is worth a visit, don't be put off by the winding mountain roads. There are some great restaurants there, and on the way there. With the scenery and weather too it would be impossible not to enjoy being at La Capanna and we would not hesitate to return. Excellent value.

I this place

Loads of interesting stuff to do in the surrounding areas, but also the perfect place to relax and spend time with friends. I've come here for my holidays many times and in all seasons and have too many good memories of the place to list here. Great food and wine locally of course and the views from the garden are wonderful. I will return again soon!

The two buidings are close beside each other in a small hamlet, near the country town of Reggello which is situated at the foot of the Protomagno Mountains, about 35 kilometres south-east of Florence, in the direction of Arezzo which is about 50 kilometres. This is classic rural Tuscany - old stone buildings and lines of cypress trees scattered amongst olive groves, and vineyards.

The mountains offer superb scenic walks, and there is easy access by rail or motorway to Florence, Arezzo, Siena and beyond. The nearby village has excellent restaurants, bars, shops and an exquisite Romanesque church - home to the famous Masaccio triptych.

Other Activities: Large public swimming pool
