LA VILLETTA, LOWER APARTMENT

Reggello House Rental Photos and Description

Well equipped accommodation, aircon, wonderful garden, spectacular views

Set in a small hamlet with spectacular views into the beautiful Pratomagno Mountains, the property includes an old stone house 'La Villetta', and a separate cottage 'La Capanna'. La Villetta consists of two fully self-contained apartments (with separate entrances) each sleeping up to five people. It may also be used as a single unit. La Capanna can accommodate six people.

Both buildings have recently been renovated so as to retain a traditional Tuscan character, and all three units have air conditioning and all necessary domestic facilities: fridge, freezer, washing machine, etc. There is a large garden with flowers, lawns, pergolas and BBQ. The owners' extensive website gives numerous photos of both buildings and of the surrounding area. Please email for the address of the website.

La Villetta: was bought as the owners' personal holiday home. La Capanna, the neighbouring property was acquired in 2003. Both properties offer an ideal and comfortable base for people who want to explore the beautiful area south of Florence, as well as the major cities and cultural centres. They might best be described as a simple and comfortable rustic dwellings, with many charming features, set in a spectacular position at the foot of the mountains; perfectly located for people wanting a mixture of sightseeing, walking, swimming, art galleries, restaurants, wine tasting, scenic travel or just relaxing in the garden.

Amenities: The nearest village, Cascia, has plenty of traditional shops for most basic necessities, as well as a modern supermarket, a dry cleaners and a bank and a splendid new open-air pool. It also has good restaurants and bars. Nearby towns have shops for more specialised requirements and there are many markets locally. Excellent wines and oil can be bought either from shops or directly from local producers.

For further information: The owner's website gives more extensive details of the house and area, and also several photos of the house and its surroundings.

WONDERFUL TIME IN BEAUTIFUL SPOT

  • 5 of 5
This was all we hoped for: a charming, comfortble and very well equipped place with a fantastic view into the mountains from the beautiful garden where we spent many an hour sunbathing, eating and sipping gorgeous local wine. The area was also perfect for us as we could get into Florence and lots of other places easily, or if wanted to stay in the area go walking in the mountains (not too strenuous I'm glad to say!).

Eating out and shopping were simple and the local food is just wonderful. In short we can't wait to return!!

LA VILLETTA, I TALLINI

  • 5 of 5
We have been coming to La Villetta (both upstairs and downstairs) for over 10 years now, both in high and low season. It is a wonderful place from which to explore the area. The old stone building has a real sense of belonging. Repeated visits have not dulled our pleasure at staying in this wonderful art of Italy. It gives easy access to lots of beautiful villages, towns and cities – you can simply drown in Renaissance culture. But another real joy of La Villetta is its location in the Pratomagno hills. Views are stunning – olives, vines, forests, terraces cut into the hillside. The air is fresh, actually wonderful. There are abundant walks, either cross country or along the road. The light changes almost continually so there is always more to catch the eye. You can step out of the back door, straight into the countryside. 15min of walking will get you to Cascia with various amenities and a fine ristorante (Massacio); 30min to Regello, famed for its olive oil – both have butchers, supermarkets, bars, gelateria, etc. 30min downhill is an excellent pizzeria (I Laghi). It is odd that somewhere with such easy access feels so beautifully rural. The neighbours have various small holdings and it is interesting to see them tending to their market gardens, their olives and vines. They have all been very friendly. 20min walk gets you to a Medici villa, Villa Mandri. The point is that you can drive to Florence, Siena, the Chianti hills or wherever and hit the sights - or change the whole emphasis of your holiday and stay put. Inside, La Villetta has everything that we have needed. The website is very accurate so there is no need to repeat the amenities here. But the air conditioning is a boon in the Summer and provides ready warmth in Spring. We tend to cook – the produce round about (different cuts of meat, fantastic seafood, greenery, etc) makes you want to experience it - and there is everything on hand in the house for this. Outside there is also a barbecue area and a private well tended garden for enjoying the views or for meals. The Pritchards are immensely thoughtful in their instructions, selection of guide books, etc. The visitor book also gives lots of handy tips covering most of any activities to which you may want to put your holiday. We cannot recommend La Villetta highly enough. Our one reservation in writing this, selfishly, is that your booking might make it more difficult for us to return!

A TRUE TASTE OF ITALY

  • 5 of 5
My stay at La Villetta consisted of lazy days and evenings in the lovely private garden (beautifully maintained and ideal for evening barbecues) - overlooking the Italian countryside, enjoying the views and the fruits of the hills (red wine and olives namely).

The house itself is charming - clean, comfortable and well maintained (air condiitioning was great for the heat in July). The owners have provided plentiful information about the running of the house itself and places of interest in the area.

A short drive away (also walking distance) takes you into the villages of Regello and Cascia - wonderful restaurants with authentic italian cuisine - also a public swimming pool (indoor and out). A trip to the train station is also a short drive away where the train takes you straight into Florence within half an hour - well worth a visit.

I would thoroughly recommend a stay in this beautiful part of the world.

COMMENTS FROM OWNER GUESTBOOK

'Thank you for sharing your fantastic house and garden with us. We've had one of our most memorable holidays to date. We've gone for bike rides, done walks from the house, been to all the main places...We've dined at some superb restaurants, drunk fine wines, barbecued many times in your garden (what a spectacular setting), seen the amazing fireflies...had a trip to The Mall (gulp) where I bought a beautiful leather bag for a fraction of the price I would pay here...can't wait to go again...perfect location for that area and all its wonderful sites and places to visit...Thank you again for a fantastic holiday.' W & J T (Derby)

'We found our stay absolutely wonderful. The 'Suggestions Book' was truly excellent. It encouraged us to walk around the vicinity as well as visit the historic towns nearby. Neither of us wanted to leave by the end of our stay.' (A honeymoon couple, Worcestershire).

BEAUTIFUL PLACE

  • 5 of 5
The place is wondeful, very well maintened and equiped. Everything you need is there. The garden and the view are magnificent. The village offer you a real taste of Italy. You can visit all the surrondings and the best cities of Italy from this village if you have a car. The owners were very pleasant and always present for us even if they are far away from Italy. Everything is very well organised in this house. Beautiful, charming place to stay. Real feelings of Italy. Thank you again.

The two buidings are close beside each other in a small hamlet, near the country town of Reggello which is situated at the foot of the Protomagno Mountains, about 35 kilometres south-east of Florence, in the direction of Arezzo which is about 50 kilometres. This is classic rural Tuscany - old stone buildings and lines of cypress trees scattered amongst olive groves, and vineyards.

The mountains offer superb scenic walks, and there is easy access by rail or motorway to Florence, Arezzo, Siena and beyond. The nearby village has excellent restaurants, bars, shops and an exquisite Romanesque church - home to the famous Masaccio triptych.
