About The Owner

Chuck and Connie are both from Michigan and recently retired, Chuck as a college administrator and Connie as a help desk manager. They enjoy activities with their sons' families, especially their five grandkids. Since retiring, they enjoy traveling, taking in many of the Civil War sesquicentennial events. They like to stop over at the cabin whenever possible to relax.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2003

Why The Owner chose Gatlinburg

Connie's family was originally split between Florida and Michigan, and the Gatlinburg area was an ideal location for the family to reunite. Eventually three of the families purchased cabins so they could enjoy the area more regularly.

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin has the advantages of both worlds. On one hand, you can get away from the stress and busyness of everyday life with the secluded wooded setting in the mountains. On the other hand, you are only a half-hour away from major tourist attractions: Smoky Mountains National Park, Dollyworld, Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies, and a variety of activities and shopping in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Our stay at Enchanted Evening was absolutely wonderful. We truly couldn't have asked for a better honeymoon! The cabin was so clean and had that special touch to make us feel right at home. Staying at this humble abode was the perfect start of our marriage! We made "enchanted" memories and can't wait to come back for our anniversary! Thanks so much for the hospitality and allowing us to make cherished memories!

Wonderful anniversary trip!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I rented Enchanted Evening two weeks ago for a long anniversary weekend and ever since we've been home, we keep saying how bad we wish we were back. Ann told me we wouldn't want to leave and she was right! The cabin is even better in person than it looks in the pictures, and super clean. We loved the hot tub and the view! The bed is fantastic...you just sink into the mattress. This was a surprise trip for my husband and I wanted everything to be perfect, and by renting Enchanted Evening...it was!

Anniversary Trip

  • 4 of 5
Had a tough time deciding on a cabin to stay for our 30th anniversary get-away. Looked at a couple others from the same management company, but they weren't available. Less than ten days from the big day we got this one!

Enchanted Evening is wonderfully isolated, with no other cabins visible from the property (at least when there are leaves on the trees). The deck is very private. This cabin is at least a 20-minute drive from the area's attractions. If you want to be away from the crowds (we did!), this cabin is for you.

The cabin is nicely decorated in a fairy theme. The description and photos of the cabin are accurate. The cabin was clean and everything was in working order.

Two minor complaints. The bed was a bit soft for our liking. I wouldn't say the mattress was saggy, so I don't think it's matter of age of the mattress. Also, the cabin creaked as though someone was walking around, presumably from the natural movement of the logs. We've stayed in several cabins of various sizes and never heard these noises before.

Other than the above issues, I would return to Enchanted Evening, and this cabin will remain on our list of cabins to stay at when visiting the Smokies. Thanks to Jim and Ann at Smoky Mt. Escapes and to the owner for a wonderful anniversary trip!

Owner's Response: The mattress was new in 2011. It replaced a pillow-top mattress that had been very popular with guests, so we chose a $1300 mattress that was on the softer side in hopes of not disappointing return guests. Log cabins tend to make a little more weather-caused noise than frame cabins.

Our best stay in the Smokies to date

  • 5 of 5
The cabin is laid out perfectly. The living room is perfect for watching movies or just hanging out by the fireplace. The bedroom w/large jacuzzi tub is wonderful; and this is probably the most private cabin we've stayed at. While it is in a "development" of sorts. The cabins are very spread out and shrouded by trees. There's absolutely nothing behind the cabin when sitting on the deck. We typically go to a different cabin each year for our anniversary but we'll be back to this one next year. We were blessed to spend our anniversary at Enchanted Evening.

No problems whatsoever

  • 5 of 5
Absolute last minute reservation made the day of the beginning of a 2 night stay. We arrived on a Friday night to a warm, meticulously cleaned cabin with everything we would need for a comfortable stay. Good directions on the provided map (Don't trust Garmin) and quick and efficient communication between myself and the agent. The booklet that the owners have in the cabin explains everything about what to do, how to do it (including the TV) and where to get it. My wife and I were very impressed by the cleanliness of the cabin and it's surprising seclusion. If you forgot your suit for the hot tub, no one would ever no. Our only complaint is that we weren't there long enough to enjoy it more.

Peaceful Retreat!

  • 4 of 5
If you are looking for a place to rest and relax in a peaceful, quiet environment....this is it! The views from the back deck are gorgeous. The deck is complete with hottub and rocking chairs. The cabin is well maintained, clean, and cozy! The cabin is nicer than the pictures portray. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend to our friends. While I am perfectly content staying put, there is one thing people on the go should know....it is quite some distance from Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge....about 30 minutes to the latter. This is the only reason I didn't rate it a five. If you are a history buff, be sure and visit the new Titanic Museum. Be prepared to spend a couple of hours and bring your glasses for reading. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us!
