Welcoming and kinds
Odile and Emmanuel Guigou purchased this apartment in 2010
We wanted to welcome tourists, professionals, families, etc. in a charming apartment, well equipped, in order to insure them an extremely good stay. Plenty of sharing, meeting, dialogue, and mind opening
Meet and greet available
We stayed in this charming apartment for almost 3 months as a family of four. Though it appears rather cosy, the living space is very well designed and comfortable and our children had more than enough room in the loft bedroom to play, sleep, and study. The view from upper bedroom also happens to be a dreamer's paradise. The owners are wonderful-- very kind, very helpful, and always responsive to any request. The location is exceptional. You are in a part of Lyon that is brimming with patisseries, butchers, fromageries, and the farmers market is right outside the door twice a week, not to mention the Christmas market that sits about 50m away during the Advent season. The train/ metro station is also very convenient. It was very safe and quiet and felt very clean and new. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend it.
Adorable property and attentive rental agent! Could not ask for anything more! Stayed 5 nights with 2 friends. Walking distance to where my daughter is studying this semester. train bus and metro(Perrache Station) at your front door. Tons of Shopping & Restaurants to walk too. Plan to eat dinner after 7pm as restaurants close after lunch and open again at 7 pm. Most are closed Sunday and Monday as well. There is a " Farmers Market" on Wednesday and Sunday just across the street with veggies meats cheese bread...yum!!!! Can wait to come back in March!
If coming from Lyon airport book a ticket on the rhone express ( at airport)(15€) 30 min to Gare Par Dieu Lyon then take metro to Perrache ( 1 station and 1.20€).
My husband and I enjoyed staying in this apartment during our week in Lyon. It is in a very good location on the peninsula, where you can easily reach the city's touristic areas. Restaurants, bars and shops are located just outside the front door. The apartment is just as pictured in the photos -- it is very comfortable and our hosts provided everything we needed (towels, bedding, washing machine, drying rack, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, coffee maker, microwave, dishwasher, etc.). Anything else you will need during your stay (i.e. toilet paper) can be found in any of the numerous small markets nearby. The apartment is compact, but very cleverly designed, so it was very comfortable for the two of us. The apartment is on the upper most floor (6th U.S., accessed by a small elevator) in an older building on the Place Carnot. It is well lighted, but the only real view from the apartment (of Lyon's rooftops and it's picturesque hilltop cathedral) is from the windows located in the loft (that contains 2 single beds), which is accessible by a very steep, narrow stairway. (The main floor bedroom contains a window overlooking an inner "courtyard".) The window in the living room is another source of light, but is a dormer window in the roof. The building must be very well insulated because, with the windows closed, the apartment was very quiet. The weather was warm during our stay and the three separate A/C units (controlled with remotes) worked very efficiently. Our hosts Odile and Emmanuel were very friendly, charming and helpful. Odile and her husband are easily accessible at all times (they actually live on the floor below). Odile met us on arrival, helped us park our car in a space they provided with the rental (located in a nearby private parking garage), and helped us with our luggage. We do not speak French, but communication was never a problem. We enjoyed visiting Lyon. We would love to return to Lyon in the future and we would not hesitate to stay here again. We highly recommend this apartment to others.
We were thrilled with our accommodation in Lyon. The location is perfect and close to everything. We are a family of 4 with 2 teenagers. It was perfect for us. The owners were very helpful. Great restaurants nearby. Metro very close. What a treasure!
We were thrilled with this small apartment in Lyon - were there six weeks and wanted to stay longer, in large part because of the comfort of our living space. The listing and photos are completely accurate. The apartment is extremely clean, well equipped and cleverly designed to make max use of space and light. Everything is provided for you, with excellent wi-fi access, a fast dishwasher and the bed on the main floor is one of the most comfortable we have slept on. Indeed, we had more amenities in this apartment than in any other we have rented. Odile and Emmanuel have thought of everything. They are extremely helpful and hospitable landlords, the location is brilliant - steps to the metro, shopping promenade, many brasseries and bars - and as noted in other reviews, the Wed/Sun market, park and playground. Also important is the quiet nature of the apartment. Lyon is not quiet, so this is vital. Having explored all of Lyon and checked out the other places that were originally in consideration for this and future stays, we would stay here again without question.
My wife, our two young children and I really enjoyed our stay at this apartment. It is very conveniently situated - a leisurely 10 minute walk to Place Bellecour. It was really quite, so we had a perfect night's sleep every night and naps for the children during the day were also not a problem. There was a playground almost immediately outside the front door which was very useful for us also. There was also a brillinat food market immediatly outside the front door of the buidling on Sunday and Wedensday where we bought loads of fresh fruit, veg, bread, cheese and meat for our stay - a typical everyday French food market. The apartment was perfectly clean, contained everything we needed. It was also really cosy and had seperate heating/cooling units in each room so everyone could have their room at a temperatue that suited them which was great. The owner had provided a high chair, travel cots and even some toys and baby bed linens for us which was really thoughtful. There was always lots of hot water also. The stairs to the mezzanine bedroom are quite steep and small, but there was a door which can be easily locked at the top of the stairs to prevent a child from coming down the stairs which we used all the time and prevented either child from accessing the stairs without our supervision. I cannot find any fault with this apartment and would recommend it to anyone with or without a young family and the owner was so friendly and helpful and we all left Lyon with many happy memories. If we get the chance to return, we would definetely stay here again.
