The 6 apartments are built into the south facing wing of a 17th century Italian Villa and 400 acre working arable farm called Palazzo Rosso (the Red Palace). The 400 year old building has just been completely and lovingly restored, retaining all original features, beams, solid stone walls, fireplaces etc. There is a 300 square metre 10 metre high beamed barn for guest use, paved with local stone. A 13.5x6 metre pool was installed in the spring 2008. There are extensive gardens for guests on both sides of the building, as well as an orchard and courtyard animals (horse, ponies, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, rabbits and dogs).
The building faces south and has views out over our farmland, with a river and the Colli Berici hills to the west side, the Villa courtyard garden to the north side and our 15 acres of Vineyards to the east.
Places to visit: The historic town Vicenza is only 17km from the farm & there is a cycle track to the centre for approximately 9km. The Berici hills are only 2km from the farm, where there are many hiking & biking tracks as well as an area famous for climbing called Lumignano. The spa towns of Abano & Montegrotto Terme are only 25km away.
Further afield: Venice is 65km which is a one hour drive away, or a one hour train ride from Vicenza. Verona is 65km which is a one hour drive away, Padova 30km which is a half an hour drive away. Lake Garda is 100km way & easily accessible by motorway. The Altopiano of Asiago & skiing at 2000m are only 70km away. Florence is a two & a half hour drive away
More Information about the property: The apartments can all be rented separately or together for larger groups.
Upon request it is possible to rent out a 110 square metre communal room with kitchen and bathroom situated next to the apartments.
The apartments have access to a first floor 140 square metre 6 metre high open plan communal room.
The apartments have use of a communal laundry room with a washing machine, two washing sinks, clothes drying facilities, ironing board and iron.
Hi I am Phil. My wife Silvy and I have owned and managed our 400 acre farm since 1992 when I moved to Italy from the UK. We started to rent out one apartment in 2002 and enjoyed having people around so much that we decided to restore a huge old 17th century barn and farm house which we turned into 6 holiday rental apartments.
Philip Frankland purchased this farmhouse in 1991
We were lucky enough to inherit Palazzo Rosso Farm from my wife Silvy's family.
Our guests love to come and stay at Palazzo Rosso because they can enjoy the benefits of being close to many beautiful places such as Venice, Verona, Padova, Mantova and Vicenza and at the same time when they want to relax they can sit back and enjoy the farm location and beautiful surroundings at Palazzo Rosso.
My wife and I have just spent 2 weeks at Palazzo Rossi with my daughter and grandson. The apartment was excellent and very well equipped. The whole complex was clean and well maintained with the pool being a real bonus. The owners Phil and Sylvy were on site every day and worked hard to make everyone welcome. They advised on local facilities and attractions as well as providing free "free range" eggs and fresh fruit from the orchard. Our only disappointment was that we missed the grape harvest. Despite the deteriorating £/euro exchange rate the apartment represented excellent value for money
The stay was really great, because everything is quiet, and if it's hot outside the pool's a really good place for cooling down. It's an old barn which has been converted into 6 flats, which aren't massive, but well kept. We were recommended to stay here and I'd recommend it to anybody else who likes peaceful holidays. It's not too far from Vicenza or the motorway, so that you can get to places quite quickly. There are lots of restaurants nearby, also in the nearby hills with fantastic views of the area.
The description of apartment 6 is 100% accurate and I can only say again how much we enjoyed our stay here.
The owners are very friendly and are always available, if help is required.
Venice was really nice to visit, you took a train from a small station quite nearby, and it took about an hour to get to Venice. Lake Garda is about 1 and a half hours drive, but spectacular to see. The Dolomites are amazing too, Asiago is a really nice place to visit if you're staying here. It's about an hours drive up hairraising serpentines with spectacular views. The local restaurants were really good too.
All in all a really good place to stay!!!
Cadre très agréable, appartement avec toutes commodités, moderne et confortable.
Propriétaires très acceuillants et sympathiques.
Nous avons beaucoup apprécié ce séjour
Our family of 4 (with two girls aged 4 and 7) spent the first week of August in apt. 6 at Pallazo Rosso. It could not have been a better choice of place to stay. It is perfectly located in central Veneto which allowed us to do day-trips to Bassano del Grappa, Venise, Padua, Verona, Vicenza and Lac Garda. Our first impressions of Pallazo Rosso were great as the place is beautiful, peaceful and kept very clean. Although our apartment was not hugely spacious, it was fine for our purpose and the beds are very comfortable.
This place has beautiful grounds and a fabulous pool (towels are conveniently provided) which our girls enjoyed very much either before we left on a day-trip or upon our return. What is great is that there is a BBQ at your disposal which allowed us to eat outside on the large terrase and converse with other travellers if we wished (we met very nice families from France, England and Germany) while the kids played on the grounds.
The owners are extremely warm and generous and attend to all your needs in order to make your stay as enjoyable and stress-free as possible. They even made a point of being present on our day of departure to wish us well. As well, if your kids want (ours did), they will gladly take them on a tour of their farm to feed the various animals and to pick up the eggs that were laid by the chickens that day. In fact, fresh eggs are available to all the guests every morning.
Another nice touch is that bicycles are made available to the guests should they want to tour the surrounding area by bike. There is also a laundry machine available for use by all the guests.
Overall, I have only positive comments to write about this place and would recommend it to anyone wishing to experience a stay at a farm house in the Veneto region. On a scale of 1 to 10, this place is a definite 10! Kudos to Phil and Sylvia for all the time, energy and money that they've invested into this place to make it what it is today...a gem of a place that will provide great Holiday memories to all that have the chance to spend some time here.

If you want a true Italian experience, you will stay at Palazzo Rosso! The owners, Phil and Sylvia, are on-site everyday, all day, ready to answer any questions you may have. They also provide a nice list of local restaurants, bars, ice cream shops and other attractions so the guests know the best places to go that they would never find unless a local had steered them in that direction. They are extremely friendly and make sure that they are doing everything they can so you enjoy your stay.
The property is extremely clean, maintains excellent standards, and is environmentally friendly. The apartments have all the necessities of a normal house; it's the perfect home away from home. I would and will suggest this getaway to any and all friends/family. I definitely plan on staying there again!
We visited the Palazzo Rosso with three families (with babies each) this spring, and enjoyed our stay very much. We loved the perfectly equipped apartments, the garden and the pool area, and the huge roofed front court where we could play with the children when the weather was bad. Phil and Sylvie, the owners, were more than helpful and made us feel comfortable throughout our stay (don't forget to try their wine!). In total, we can very much recommend the Palazzo Rosso. Thanks again for the nice days!
The Villa Palazzo Rosso is located near the village of Longare, in the hamlet of 'Ponte di Lumignano' at the foot of the Berici Hills (400 meters high). The local area is perfect for hiking, mountain biking and rock climbing. There are many local restaurants and wine producers where guests can enjoy the fantastic local dishes & taste the local wine. There is a cycle track which starts in Longare and winds all the way to the centre of Vicenza (14 kms).
There are many famous Palladian villas in the area which people from all over the world come to visit.
Palazzo Rosso Farm is a perfect starting point from which to visit all of the most famous historic cities such as Venice, Verona, Padova, Vicenza, Mantova, Ferrara as well as Bassano, Marostica and Asolo. All of these locations are well within and hours drive from the farm.
Other local attractions which our guests enjoy include wine tasting in the many local wine cellars, a Grana Padana cheese factory and shop and a local organic Olive oil prooducer.
Other Activities: Rock climbing, mountain biking and hiking in the 400 metre high Colli Berici hills
