The 6 apartments are built into the south facing wing of a 17th century Italian Villa and 400 acre working arable farm called Palazzo Rosso (the Red Palace). The 400 year old building has just been completely and lovingly restored, retaining all original features, beams, solid stone walls, fireplaces etc. There is a 300 square metre 10 metre high beamed barn for guest use, paved with local stone. A 13.5x6 metre pool was installed in the spring 2008. There are extensive gardens for guests on both sides of the building, as well as an orchard and courtyard animals (horse, ponies, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, rabbits and dogs).
The building faces south and has views out over our farmland, with a river and the Colli Berici hills to the west side, the Villa courtyard garden to the north side and our 15 acres of Vineyards to the east.
Places to visit: The historic town Vicenza is only 17km from the farm & there is a cycle track to the centre for approximately 9km. The Berici hills are only 2km from the farm, where there are many hiking & biking tracks as well as an area famous for climbing called Lumignano. The spa towns of Abano & Montegrotto Terme are only 25km away.
Further afield: Venice is 65km which is a one hour drive away, or a one hour train ride from Vicenza. Verona is 65km which is a one hour drive away, Padova 30km which is a half an hour drive away. Lake Garda is 100km way & easily accessible by motorway. The Altopiano of Asiago & skiing at 2000m are only 70km away. Florence is a two & a half hour drive away
More Information about the property: The apartments can all be rented separately or together for larger groups.
Upon request it is possible to rent out a 110 square metre communal room with kitchen and bathroom situated next to the apartments.
The apartments have access to a first floor 140 square metre 6 metre high open plan communal room.
The apartments have use of a communal laundry room with a washing machine, two washing sinks, clothes drying facilities, ironing board and iron.
Hi I am Phil. My wife Silvy and I have owned and managed our 400 acre farm since 1992 when I moved to Italy from the UK. We started to rent out one apartment in 2002 and enjoyed having people around so much that we decided to restore a huge old 17th century barn and farm house which we turned into 6 holiday rental apartments.
Philip Frankland purchased this farmhouse in 1991
We were lucky enough to inherit Palazzo Rosso Farm from my wife Silvy's family.
Our guests love to come and stay at Palazzo Rosso because they can enjoy the benefits of being close to many beautiful places such as Venice, Verona, Padova, Mantova and Vicenza and at the same time when they want to relax they can sit back and enjoy the farm location and beautiful surroundings at Palazzo Rosso.
The apartment was very comfortable, perfect for a family with small children. The satellite TV, DVD player & stereo made life easier when it rained. The kitchen was very well equipped and there were lots of great places to go out for dinner, the Italians all take their children out with them which was a nice change and made our evenings much more enjoyable.
There were lots of places to go and visit close by, we stayed for nearly two weeks and still didn't get to see everything.
We had a great time staying over new year, we even joined in a local new years party which was great fun.
looking forward to coming back soon.

My family stayed at Plazzo Rosso for a week in September 2014. The farm was relaxed and quiet. Perfect for a peaceful getaway. The outdoor pool was lovely to relax by and the courtyard outside the apartments was great for chilling out after a days sight seeing.
Silvy and Phil were both friendly and helpful and made us feel really welcome.
The apartment was comfortable for the four of us and had everything we needed.
I would highly recommend Plazzo Rosso, we had a great time staying here.
The place was exactly as described, very nice place to stay in or as a base to make visits in a wonderful area (Verona, Venezia, Padova, lake Garda ...). Sylvi and phil welcome you with a thick guide to interesting places and their best spots to eat, everything is aimed to make things comfortable and easy, cycles, pool, baby-foot. We really enjoyed our stay.
We are about to make our 6th visit to Palazzo Rosso and can't wait.Usually its my wife and I,but this year we are a party of 6 plus a new grandson. The location is so good for all of the Veneto cities, but drive a little further to Lake Garda or up to South Tyrol for something different. If you don't want that sort of holiday, just laze around the pool. Eat in (there is a big supermarket close by). Dine out at a very good selection of eateries nearby. Our hosts,Phil and Silvi, always give far more than expected of their time and attention (considering this is a working farm) and have never failed to direct us to great places not found in guide books. Visit once and you'll be regulars like us.
We stayed in the one bedroom apartments in June this year and the quality of both the accommadation and service was great. Even though the apartments are set in a rural surroundings the road to the town means it is only 5 mins away but when you wouldn't know.
The spec and rustic restoration of the old farm house was higher than our expectation and with air con. key card entry it was a safe environment to stay in. The apartment was one bedroom but not too small, we enjoyed breakfast on the patio in the morning and could of used the BBQ it we wanted to.
The pool was so clean and new and relaxing to sit around in the daytime.
The family and dogs were very friendly and if we just wanted a walk around the field in the evening we could do so. Within a ten min drive we found local pizzerias, restaurants and take aways. There was a wine shop across the road if you wanted to buy local fizz - 2-4 euros and enjoy a night on the patio watching the sun set.
Would recommend to families and couples alike.
This was our second stay at Palazzo Rosso and was every bit as good as was anticipated, the addition of the swimming pool is great and the various other added touchs are excellent. It is difficult to add to the other reviews, as everything seems to have been said!!, but we can endorse all the good things that have been said about the place. Phil & Silvy are superb hosts and we would recommend Palazzo Rosso to anyone who was thinking of visiting the Vicenza area
The Villa Palazzo Rosso is located near the village of Longare, in the hamlet of 'Ponte di Lumignano' at the foot of the Berici Hills (400 meters high). The local area is perfect for hiking, mountain biking and rock climbing. There are many local restaurants and wine producers where guests can enjoy the fantastic local dishes & taste the local wine. There is a cycle track which starts in Longare and winds all the way to the centre of Vicenza (14 kms).
There are many famous Palladian villas in the area which people from all over the world come to visit.
Palazzo Rosso Farm is a perfect starting point from which to visit all of the most famous historic cities such as Venice, Verona, Padova, Vicenza, Mantova, Ferrara as well as Bassano, Marostica and Asolo. All of these locations are well within and hours drive from the farm.
Other local attractions which our guests enjoy include wine tasting in the many local wine cellars, a Grana Padana cheese factory and shop and a local organic Olive oil prooducer.
Other Activities: Rock climbing, mountain biking and hiking in the 400 metre high Colli Berici hills
