Photos and Description of the Longare vacation farmhouse rental
6 self catering apartments, 10 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, sleeps a maximum of 29

The 6 apartments are built into the south facing wing of a 17th century Italian Villa and 400 acre working arable farm called Palazzo Rosso (the Red Palace). The 400 year old building has just been completely and lovingly restored, retaining all original features, beams, solid stone walls, fireplaces etc. There is a 300 square metre 10 metre high beamed barn for guest use, paved with local stone. A 13.5x6 metre pool was installed in the spring 2008. There are extensive gardens for guests on both sides of the building, as well as an orchard and courtyard animals (horse, ponies, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, rabbits and dogs).

The building faces south and has views out over our farmland, with a river and the Colli Berici hills to the west side, the Villa courtyard garden to the north side and our 15 acres of Vineyards to the east.

Places to visit: The historic town Vicenza is only 17km from the farm & there is a cycle track to the centre for approximately 9km. The Berici hills are only 2km from the farm, where there are many hiking & biking tracks as well as an area famous for climbing called Lumignano. The spa towns of Abano & Montegrotto Terme are only 25km away.

Further afield: Venice is 65km which is a one hour drive away, or a one hour train ride from Vicenza. Verona is 65km which is a one hour drive away, Padova 30km which is a half an hour drive away. Lake Garda is 100km way & easily accessible by motorway. The Altopiano of Asiago & skiing at 2000m are only 70km away. Florence is a two & a half hour drive away

More Information about the property: The apartments can all be rented separately or together for larger groups.

Upon request it is possible to rent out a 110 square metre communal room with kitchen and bathroom situated next to the apartments.

The apartments have access to a first floor 140 square metre 6 metre high open plan communal room.

The apartments have use of a communal laundry room with a washing machine, two washing sinks, clothes drying facilities, ironing board and iron.

The apartment is very well furnished with locally made solid wood furniture and kitchen. The kitchen has a solid granite work surface. Classic larch wood floor. 400 year old exposed solid stone walls. original beamed ceilings. The north facing bedroom has a view of the 5000 square metre Villa Palazzo Rosso courtyard garden. The south facing bedroom has a view over the 350 square metre, 10 metre high beamed 'Portico' barn which is for guest use. The apartment is both heated and air conditioned.

About Philip Frankland

Hi I am Phil. My wife Silvy and I have owned and managed our 400 acre farm since 1992 when I moved to Italy from the UK. We started to rent out one apartment in 2002 and enjoyed having people around so much that we decided to restore a huge old 17th century barn and farm house which we turned into 6 holiday rental apartments.

The Villa Palazzo Rosso is located near the village of Longare, in the hamlet of 'Ponte di Lumignano' at the foot of the Colli Berici Hills (400 meters high). The local area is perfect for hiking, mountain biking and rock climbing. There are many local restaurants and wine producers where guests can enjoy the fantastic local dishes & taste the local wine. There is a cycle track which starts in Longare and goes all the way to the centre of Vicenza.

Other Activities: Rock climbing, mountain biking and hiking in the 400 metre high Colli Berici hills

Delightful

My family spent a week at the farm this past June and had a wonderful time. Although the apartment was delightful - clean and exactly how it looked in the pictures - the most surprising thing was just how delightful the owners, Phil and Silvia, were. Phil and Silvia went out of their way to make sure we have everything we needed - including arranging for a local tour guide (who was excellent), lending us a number of books on the area from their personal library and recommending all the best local restaurants. Silvia even took my children on a tour of the farm so that they could feed all the animals - probably the highlight of the week if you ask my children. Palazzo Rosso is a working farm - they were harvesting wheat the week we were there - but no matter how busy they were Phil and Silvia always took the time to make sure our holiday was everything we hoped it would be. I highly recommend Palazzo Rosso!

A great holiday

My family (father, mother, two daughters(16 and 20) with their boyfriends) spent two weeks here and it is a fantastic place to stay. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend this place to anyone staying in this part of Italy.
Sylvie and Phil are extremly friendly and helpful, the appartements are very clean, furnished tastefully with an Italian style (including aircondition) and the pool is fantastic.
There were lots of fantastic places to go and visits close by, just like Vicenza, Padova, Venice, Verona and Treviso.
The area is also perfect for road bike (up to 440 mters high) and MTB.
Thank you again, Phil and Sylvia and we already gave your address to our friends, hoping they will come to Palazzo Rosso and appreciate the place as mush as we did.

We had a great time.

Excellent Holiday location

This was our second visit to Palazzo Rosso and it continues to deliver on all fronts. The swimming pool was a new addition and is an excellent facility - greatly enjoyed by our 2 boys. Phils recent purchase of a fab new barbeque was also well used
The appartments are very comfortable and have everything you could possibly need.
We found some amazing places to visit and eat guided by Sylvie and Phil who are excellent hosts and help make the most of your time in the area.

Great accommodation and a great location

These apartments are excellent in all respects - we were there as a family of 5 (three teenage children) and the apartment and facilities were great.
Apartment was spacious, well equipped and nicely furnished, very clean and well-maintained, comfortable and easy to relax in. The other facilities too were very good - the pool, bikes and table-tennis table were all much appreciated! The provision of fresh eggs from the farm was a great bonus too!
Phil & Silvy were great too - very friendly, helpful and obliging - and the location is a great base from which to explore this part of Italy. We went to Verona, Lake Garda and Venice easily on day trips by car.
We would love to return sometime in the future.
