|Minimum Stay||4 - 7 nights|
The 6 apartments are built into the south facing wing of a 17th century Italian Villa and 400 acre working arable farm called Palazzo Rosso (the Red Palace). The 400 year old building has just been completely and lovingly restored, retaining all original features, beams, solid stone walls, fireplaces etc. There is a 300 square metre 10 metre high beamed barn for guest use, paved with local stone. A 13.5x6 metre pool was installed in the spring 2008. There are extensive gardens for guests on both sides of the building, as well as an orchard and courtyard animals (horse, ponies, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, rabbits and dogs).
The building faces south and has views out over our farmland, with a river and the Colli Berici hills to the west side, the Villa courtyard garden to the north side and our 15 acres of Vineyards to the east.
Places to visit: The historic town Vicenza is only 17km from the farm & there is a cycle track to the centre for approximately 9km. The Berici hills are only 2km from the farm, where there are many hiking & biking tracks as well as an area famous for climbing called Lumignano. The spa towns of Abano & Montegrotto Terme are only 25km away.
Further afield: Venice is 65km which is a one hour drive away, or a one hour train ride from Vicenza. Verona is 65km which is a one hour drive away, Padova 30km which is a half an hour drive away. Lake Garda is 100km way & easily accessible by motorway. The Altopiano of Asiago & skiing at 2000m are only 70km away. Florence is a two & a half hour drive away
More Information about the property: The apartments can all be rented separately or together for larger groups.
Upon request it is possible to rent out a 110 square metre communal room with kitchen and bathroom situated next to the apartments.
The apartments have access to a first floor 140 square metre 6 metre high open plan communal room.

Hi I am Phil. My wife Silvy and I have owned and managed our 400 acre farm since 1992 when I moved to Italy from the UK. We started to rent out one apartment in 2002 and enjoyed having people around so much that we decided to restore a huge old 17th century barn and farm house which we turned into 6 holiday rental apartments.
Philip Frankland purchased this farmhouse in 1991
We were lucky enough to inherit Palazzo Rosso Farm from my wife Silvy's family.
Our guests love to come and stay at Palazzo Rosso because they can enjoy the benefits of being close to many beautiful places such as Venice, Verona, Padova, Mantova and Vicenza and at the same time when they want to relax they can sit back and enjoy the farm location and beautiful surroundings at Palazzo Rosso.
We actually stayed in Apartment 6 on the top floor (for 6 people) but can't select this for the review.
We had a fantastic week at Palazzo Rosso in August 2014. The setting is simply superb. There are plains to the east, hills to the south, mountains to the north, and rocky gorges to the west. The buildings have been tastfully restored and there is plenty of space in the apartments, but also in the shared areas outdoors and by the pool. Our children loved feeding the varierty of animals kept on the farm but we were also able to spot some wildlife too such as otters in the river and hares in the fields. Within an hours drive is venice, verona, padua, vincenza, mantua and a multitude of ancient walled towns such as castlefranco, cittadela, soave, and montagagna. Lake Garda, the foothills of the Alps, and the coast are also within an hour and you can even reach some of the Dolomite mountain national parks if you are willing to go a little further.
Phil and Silvie made us feel very welcome indeed and were always on hand to give advice. Free eggs and apples each day were always welcome!
We would glady stay here again for another holiday in the future.
We had the pleasure of staying at Palazzo Rosso for a week in early May (2014) and I mean it was a total pleasure. After a week, I didn’t want to leave, I would have stayed longer. Phil and Sylvie are wonderful hosts and make you feel so welcome. Although they are always working hard on the farm, they are always available to answer questions and give you very good suggestions on ways to spend your time. I had done hours of research, reviewing places to visit and Phil and Sylvie directed us to the best sites-- sometimes one I hadn’t found on the internet and would not have wanted to miss.
The apartment was cozy and had everything we needed for our stay. A real advantage to staying here is that there are several common spaces to enjoy in addition to your apartment. The entrance room has several comfortable chairs in addition to a shelf of books/and travel guides, a refrigerator for local white wines, baskets full of lovely red wines, and a basket of farm fresh eggs. The larger common room had a pool table, which came in handy on rainy days, large comfy chairs, other games, and just in general a nice room in which to relax. The portico was our favorite spot. There were plenty of wrought iron tables and chairs on which to have your meals, with plenty of room for all who were staying there. There is a common laundry room which was very handy as well.
Phil emailed a 28 page guide to the Palazzo and the surrounding area in advance of our arrival which proved to be very practical and useful. They sent us information on how to access our apartment so that we did not have to worry about arriving at a specified time. The location was excellent for sightseeing as well; it was so conveniently located, you were in Vicenza in just a few minutes and Padua was only 20 minutes away, an easy drive. There is a new autostrada interchange nearby and we were able to drive up into the Dolomites so easily and quickly. Overall, the experience was totally satisfactory and I highly recommend this vacation rental to anyone wishing to stay in this part of Italy.
We stayed at this lovely place for a week. We were made so welcome by the owners who helped us plan out visits to nearby Vicenza and Padova. They could not have been more helpful to us, and the other visitors staying at the farm.
The situation of the apartments is perfect for travelling to the beautiful cities around. The gardens and pool were well maintained and the apartments clean and comfortable. We particularly enjoyed sitting outside under the old barn for our meals and in the evenings, a lovely area with tables chairs and barbecue. We had everything we needed for a perfect holiday in the Veneto Region which is so interesting and beautiful.
We will definitely be back to Palazzo Rosso.
We had a fabulous week at Palazzo Rosso in September. The apartment had everything we needed and has been renovated to a very high standard. We loved sitting in the barn enjoying a glass of local vino and enjoying the peace and quiet! It was a great base for visiting the surrounding areas, we ventured to Venice, Bolognia and the Lakes- all wonderful days out. We also thoroughly enjoyed the local restaurants and found we didnt need to go as far as Vicenza for amazing food. Although Viceza is a lovely city and well worth an explore. Phil and Sylvie were such fabulous hosts and couldn't do enough to help. They have also produced an excellent guidebook to the area which became our bible! They also put out fresh eggs and fruit from the farm for us- what a treat! Thank you Phil and Sylvie for helping us to have a wonderful holiday!!!! I would highly recommend Palazzo Rosso and hope to go back again one day.

We are charmed with our stay in Palazzo Rosso last august : welcome, apartment and environment were extremely beautiful. Fresh eggs, plums and wine were appreciated. Sylvia and Phil made all they can for delightful holidays. An adress that we recommend !
We had a wonderful time at Palazzo Rosso. Phil & Sylvie were very kind and made us very welcome. They were there every day to offer advice on trips to the lovely, old cities in the area. Anytime we mentioned an outing, they were able to tell us where to park and things to see. At all times they were at pains to ensure we were comfortable and enjoying our holiday. The fresh eggs every morning were an added bonus.
The courtyard was a lovely area in which to eat or simply sit with a glass of wine and a book. It was ideal for meeting the other guests who were from various countries and who put us to shame with their command of english.
The apartment was very comfortable with all necessary kitchen equipment should you prefer to dine in instead of going to one of the restaurants nearby. The whole building has been adapted very imaginatively from the original 400 year old barn. We saw photos of the work in progress - what an undertaking!
We had a rented car but there were regular buses on the nearby road which was only a short walk away. We loved the animals - the cute dogs, horses and the hens.
We enjoyed ourselves immensely at Palazzo Rosso and have no hesitation in recommending it to family and friends.
The Villa Palazzo Rosso is located near the village of Longare, in the hamlet of 'Ponte di Lumignano' at the foot of the Berici Hills (400 meters high). The local area is perfect for hiking, mountain biking and rock climbing. There are many local restaurants and wine producers where guests can enjoy the fantastic local dishes & taste the local wine. There is a cycle track which starts in Longare and winds all the way to the centre of Vicenza (14 kms).
There are many famous Palladian villas in the area which people from all over the world come to visit.
Palazzo Rosso Farm is a perfect starting point from which to visit all of the most famous historic cities such as Venice, Verona, Padova, Vicenza, Mantova, Ferrara as well as Bassano, Marostica and Asolo. All of these locations are well within and hours drive from the farm.
Other local attractions which our guests enjoy include wine tasting in the many local wine cellars, a Grana Padana cheese factory and shop and a local organic Olive oil prooducer.
Other Activities: Rock climbing, mountain biking and hiking in the 400 metre high Colli Berici hills
