The 6 apartments are built into the south facing wing of a 17th century Italian Villa and 400 acre working arable farm called Palazzo Rosso (the Red Palace). The 400 year old building has just been completely and lovingly restored, retaining all original features, beams, solid stone walls, fireplaces etc. There is a 300 square metre 10 metre high beamed barn for guest use, paved with local stone. A 13.5x6 metre pool was installed in the spring 2008. There are extensive gardens for guests on both sides of the building, as well as an orchard and courtyard animals (horse, ponies, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, rabbits and dogs).
The building faces south and has views out over our farmland, with a river and the Colli Berici hills to the west side, the Villa courtyard garden to the north side and our 15 acres of Vineyards to the east.
Places to visit: The historic town Vicenza is only 17km from the farm & there is a cycle track to the centre for approximately 9km. The Berici hills are only 2km from the farm, where there are many hiking & biking tracks as well as an area famous for climbing called Lumignano. The spa towns of Abano & Montegrotto Terme are only 25km away.
Further afield: Venice is 65km which is a one hour drive away, or a one hour train ride from Vicenza. Verona is 65km which is a one hour drive away, Padova 30km which is a half an hour drive away. Lake Garda is 100km way & easily accessible by motorway. The Altopiano of Asiago & skiing at 2000m are only 70km away. Florence is a two & a half hour drive away
More Information about the property: The apartments can all be rented separately or together for larger groups.
Upon request it is possible to rent out a 110 square metre communal room with kitchen and bathroom situated next to the apartments.
The apartments have access to a first floor 140 square metre 6 metre high open plan communal room.

Hi I am Phil. My wife Silvy and I have owned and managed our 400 acre farm since 1992 when I moved to Italy from the UK. We started to rent out one apartment in 2002 and enjoyed having people around so much that we decided to restore a huge old 17th century barn and farm house which we turned into 6 holiday rental apartments.
Philip Frankland purchased this farmhouse in 1991
We were lucky enough to inherit Palazzo Rosso Farm from my wife Silvy's family.
Our guests love to come and stay at Palazzo Rosso because they can enjoy the benefits of being close to many beautiful places such as Venice, Verona, Padova, Mantova and Vicenza and at the same time when they want to relax they can sit back and enjoy the farm location and beautiful surroundings at Palazzo Rosso.
The apartment was very comfortable, perfect for a family with small children. The satellite TV, DVD player & stereo made life easier when it rained. The kitchen was very well equipped and there were lots of great places to go out for dinner, the Italians all take their children out with them which was a nice change and made our evenings much more enjoyable.
There were lots of places to go and visit close by, we stayed for nearly two weeks and still didn't get to see everything.
We had a great time staying over new year, we even joined in a local new years party which was great fun.
looking forward to coming back soon.

Palazzo Rosso proved an ideal choice for the 10-day tour of Palladian villas we had come for. By the time a week had gone by, we realized there were plenty of other things to do in the area: take the bicycle path to Vicenza or discover the backroads (hardly any traffic if you keep off the main road), hike in the Berici Hills ( we tried one tour guided by an Italian guide book we found in the apartment, half guessing what important trail marks the Italian words meant- but we made it!) Coming back from our tours in the evening, it was nice to take a dip in the pool and relax under the arcades, chatting with other guests staying at Palazzo Rosso. Phil and Silvy were always bustling about somewhere and willing to answer our questions. Thankyou for the fresh eggs ( if you boil them, the yolks separate to form little yellow balls- weird!) We admired the tremendous task Phil and Silvy completed in transforming the palazzo wing into apartments that combine traditional masonry and woodwork with modern furnishing. A truly pleasant place to spend a vacation. Recommendable for all kinds of people looking for a holiday home in the area.
Palazzo Rosso is something special: the friendly owners, the lovely building with beautiful appartments and being near to a great climbing area. That is all we need for a perfect Holiday!
We stayed at Palaza Rosso over our kids Spring Break from school. It was a WONDERFUL experience. The apartment was immaculately clean, the who place was beautifully maintained, and the proprietors are very friendly and helpful. The owners even let my 10 year old go with them to gather fresh eggs, which they then provide to their guests! A fantastic place to stay, well worth the price. Highly recommend. We will stay here again!! Thank you so much for such a great vacation!
During our two week stay, we found the property to be very attractive and our apartment to be modern and well appointed. The owners are very helpful and always available. They have many suggestions for interesting sights to see. We loved shopping at the Caseificio in Ponte di Barbarano, visiting the huge antiques market in Piazzola sul Brenta, and the Mio discount grocery in Costozza was a real bargain. We enjoyed riding the bicycles on the marvelous bike trail separated from the adjacent highway. When we did not cook in, we favored Trattoria-Pizzeria Vicentina for it's delicious pastas and stinco di maiale and also liked La Corte die Ciliagi Pizzeria, both close by in Longare. Palladio's famous La Rotonda is surprisingly close to Palazzo Rosso and is startling in it's springtime setting. Palazzo Rosso was so much like home away from home that we would highly recommend it to family and friends. Look for their ducks perched in the trees!
A beautiful property, very high spec - from the well finished and comfortable interior to the spacious grounds and stunning pool! Very clean throughout! Sylvie and Phil were very friendly and attentive hosts, offering practical advice on tourist attractions and on local restaurants. The children loved the pool, the bikes and the farm animals! The property was easy to find with directions given on the website and was a great base for numerous destinations. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our week at Palazzo Rosso!
Phil and Silvy work hard to ensure that everything you need is available to make your stay at Palazzo Rosso as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The accommodation on a working farm is clean and well equipped with a great pool a few steps away. The property is well situated with Vicenza, Venice, Padua, Verona and beautiful lake Garda an easy drive away. We managed all of these as well as some of the smaller villages within a week, but ideally we would have spent more time there to take advantage of the pool and relaxing atmosphere and the great cycling opportunities. We have never encountered such friendly and knowledgable hosts and they made us feel very welcome and gave us some great ideas for our days out (as well as providing the best eggs I have ever tasted!). I would highly recommend the property to couples, singles and families who want something more than a bland hotel or apartments. As long as you are prepared to drive a little the place is brilliant, we would happily return.
