Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

WELCOME TO HUMMINGBIRD HAVEN!

This cozy, log cabin is beautifully decorated with antiques and located in the San Juan River Village, only 20 minutes from Wolf Creek Ski Area. Magnificent views of the San Juan Mountains can be enjoyed from wrap-around decks on three sides and a balcony off the loft. The sound of the San Juan River at the bottom of the hill provides great relaxation. Free HIGH SPEED INTERNET connection is installed.

The cabin is easily accessible on a maintained road, just a short distance off Highway 160, six miles east of Pagosa Springs.

Hummingbird Haven will comfortably accommodate six persons but can sleep as many as eight. The bedroom downstairs has a queen-size bed and the loft bedroom has a full-size and trundle which pulls out to king-size. The sofa in the living room opens into a queen-size bed. There is a full bathroom downstairs.

All cooking and baking needs are provided in the kitchen. The laundry room has a full-size washer and dryer. The dining and living room are tastefully furnished with some family heirlooms as well as a more modern satellite TV with DVD player and a gas log fireplace. The fireplace easily heats the cabin on the coldest nights, but electric radiant heat is also available. The loft also has a satellite TV.

Whether you need a cabin for skiing, a honeymoon retreat, or just a mountain get-away, HUMMINGBIRD HAVEN is the perfect place!

About Mary Knopfle

LeRoy was born and raised in Colorado and Mary moved to Denver from Indiana after graduating from college. Both LOVED Colorado….LeRoy was a cowboy/bullrider and Mary was an avid skier.

A business opportunity of a lifetime took us to Florida in 1981 but our dream was always to return to the southwestern part of Colorado when we retired. We are living out that dream now by spending as much time as we can at Hummingbird Haven and making many wonderful memories with our grandchildren, family and friends.. When we are not at our beautiful log cabin, we love sharing it with others.

Mary Knopfle purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Mary Knopfle chose Pagosa Springs

The Pagosa Springs area offers many adventure opportunities, all of which our entire family enjoys: mountain biking, skiing, horseback riding, camping, hiking, rafting, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, golfing and fishing. And, if we don’t feel like exercising, we can sit back, relax, and enjoy the surroundings. This area has some of the most beautiful scenery found anywhere in the world.

What makes this cabin unique

Hummingbird Haven is away from all the hustle and bustle and yet only 17 miles from Wolf Creek Ski area and 5 miles from downtown Pagosa Springs where there are many restaurants and of course the healing waters of the Hot Springs. The San Juan River and San Juan mountains are right out the back door to enjoy and so are the many hummingbirds in the summertime.

Guestbook comments from the owner

As we leave on Sunday morning, I am reminded of a phrase that seems appropriate for your cabin! "To pay homage to beauty is to admire nature; to admire nature is it worship God." Lovely cabin in a unique, beautiful setting.

Thank you for sharing.

Sibling Ski Trip Getaway

  • of 5

We really enjoyed the cabin! It was the perfect place for us to stay for our sibling ski trip. Our only complaint was that our flight was delayed which didn't allow for us to get to the cabin until after 10pm and the radiant heater was still set at 50 degrees (from the previous visitors). We slept in our ski clothes to keep warm during the night. The cabin was only at 61 when we woke up the next morning, which is a bit uncomfortable. After the initial heat up, the cabin was the perfect temperature for the rest of our stay. I recommend for the owners to arrange for the heat to be turned on prior to visitors' arrivals to avoid this discomfort. Overall, it was a great place to stay with excellent proximity from Wolf Creek Ski Resort and Pagosa Springs!

Hummingbird Haven

This log cabin was everything you could hope for. It sits in an easily accessibly development yet it has plenty of land around it to give it that real outdoor mountain feel. With two rooms and a great kitchen, my family of five spent a week there and loved it.

Cozy Log Home!

  • 5 of 5

Very nice log cabin! We went so my husband could hunt elk and I could spend time with my friend. The cabin was very cozy. There were beautiful fall colors! It even snowed a little bit one time! The home was just as described...clean and neat, with comfortable beds (I really liked the Nautica comforters!). We were able to cook meals as the kitchen was well stocked with cookware. We rode to Durango to ride the train; that was a great time. We also went to to the hot springs in town and shopped around. The locals were very nice. The owner was very nice and helpful in answering any questions we had. I would recommend this property for families, couples, and even hunters, if they clean their feet first! :)

Hummingbird Haven was a wonderful place for a get-away. We loved the coziness of the log cabin!

Hummingbird Haven was great. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. It proved to be the perfect place for our fall break. The cabin was comfortable and cleverly decorated. It had all the comforts of home and more. We feel it was better than one would expect by simply reading the listing. The photos did accurately portray the cabin's appearance and cleanliness yet its warmth and coziness was more than the photos could capture. We would definitely recommend this to family and friends, in fact, we would love to go there again. We did enjoy some of the nearby restaurants, although I no longer recall their names. We especially liked the invigorating hot springs. The owners were more than helpful in answering any questions and made our stay relaxing and refreshing. The beauty of the area

was spectacular at that time of year. The trees were gorgeous with all the colors of fall, which included many bright yellow aspens. The morning we left we were blessed with more

splendor - that of the freshness and softness of big, beautiful, white falling snow. We had a terrific time and can't thank the owners enough for all they did to make our stay feel like home.

Pagosa homecoming

  • 5 of 5

My father built this cabin from Big Horn Log Homes in 1986 and we spent many weekends, holidays, getaways over the seasons and years. After I graduated and moved away from home he retired here and lived on the mountain full time until he sold the property. My only wish and dream I had for years was to spend one more night in the cabin. Thanks to Mary and Leroy they made my dream come true. Me and my best friend had the most amazing weekend ever, remembering, visiting our haunts, and creating new memories. The best part was the smell! It was as I remembered sweet, piney, earthy, and it wish I could bottle it up to take home. It was very special seeing the antiques and much of the exterior is just as I remembered. It was the perfect homecoming and me and my best friend intend on making it a yearly tradition to come back to the area and most hopefully Hummingbird Haven. Breathtaking and beautiful!
