Velkomin Heim, Welcome Home
This is a wonderful apartment in a lovely neighborhood. Einar, the owner, is a very nice man. He is always available to answer questions. The other tenants are also very warm and welcoming.
If you have a bike or plan to rent one there is a locked storage unit on the ground level. It's a short walk to get downtown and even shorter walk to the coast. Walking along the coast you can view the sunset/sunrise over the sea, see several landmarks including the viking ship sculpture pictured on this listing, and enjoy a show at the new concert hall, Harpa (I highly recommend doing this.) There is a 24 hour grocery store less than a block away. It is slightly more expensive than other groceries in Reykjavík but very convenient. It is even open on National Day. There is also a neighborhood pool within walking distance. Entry is only 500 ISK and they provide lockers for your things. If you plan to take any bus tours or need a bus to/from the airport you can arrange pick up and drop off from the Hotel Cabin just 2.5 blocks away. That said, I recommend renting a car from sadcars.com and traveling around the island independently. Icelandic nature is pristine and beautiful. It should not be missed and every little town is more charming than the last. Make sure you taste the water from a stream. You will never taste water cleaner than this.
The apartment is very clean and new with everything you need for a comfortable stay. I'm glad I chose to stay here instead of a hotel. I saved a lot of money by cooking for myself and enjoyed "living" in Reykjavík. I really felt at home. I can't wait to go home to Iceland and will definitely consider renting this apartment again.
