Area characteristics:
Golden sand beaches stretch North along the Atlantic coast and West along the River Plate shore. The picturesque peninsula of Punta del Este, which includes a yacht and fishing port, divides the two and a circuit makes an excellent walk/jog. There is ample choice of restaurants, economical to expensive (but still cheap by European standards), and a large supermarket within minutes of the apartment. For most people, this is a late rising, late to bed town. Clubs and casinos go on all night.
Attractions:
Traditionally an exclusive and expensive resort, Punta del Este has become more accessible in recent times, while still attracting the glitterati. The US dollar is virtually a second currency and can be obtained from cash machines.
There is a very fine open air international jazz festival each January, as well as Polo in season, shows and concerts, fashion displays. Golf club within 5 minutes of the apartment and also Club del Lago golf about 20 minutes drive. Horse riding available in season. Although there are activities and entertainment, it is very quiet outside the summer season.
Arrival to Punta del Este:
Most guests will probably arrive at Montevideo airport. A good and frequent bus service runs from the terminal to within 5 minutes of the apartment. Rental cars may be reserved at Montevideo airport or in Punta del Este. Alternatively, there are flights from Buenos Aires to Punta del Este, or fast ferry services from Buenos Aires to Montevideo or Colonia with bus connections.
Other Activities:
casinos, polo, discos, shows
