We loved coming back from our excursions every evening and stepping into the rustic courtyard of the 16th-century building that houses the apartment. Large, ancient cobblestones led to our door. Even more, we loved it that it was not 16th-century inside, but had all the 21st-century amenities we are accustomed to. The shower is fab. I have never encountered a foot wide shower head. I had a few adventures with the washer/dryer combo before discovering that if one did a wash and then a dry cycle, it worked best. The hosts could not have been nicer, and introduced us to a very delicious Bordeaux specialty (no, not wine, we found that ourselves!). Shopping was easy, with a well-stocked and friendly “u Express” on Cours d’Alsace Lorraine, and we could pop round the corner for our early morning baguette.
