Holiday House Review

Dave and Elaina Bristol, England
Review Submitted: April 23, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
We arrived around 8pm and Barry and Sally already had a roaring fire going in the fireplace for us. We had just spent 7 hours in the car and it was such a pleasure to arrive to such a homely environment. Barry very kindly helped us unload all our luggage, which was typical of both he and Sally's great hospitality. The beds were soooooo comfy and we slept so well. The kitchen was well equipped and the whole gite was spotless. We have 3 children ages 5 and under and we found this gite reasurringly child-friendly, especially the fully enclosed graden. Barry and Sally provided a high chair and baby bed, which was priceless and I have to admit, it was nice having English tv with access to CBeebies. It felt like home.

Cottage with Everything

Vic & Ann Manchester UK
Review Submitted: August 4, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
If you like peace, quite and comfort then Chez Barry is the place to be. The cottage is furnished to a high standard and the Log burning fire is most welcoming on a chilly night, it is also very central to visit many historic towns, Ger, Mortain, St Hailare Du Harcout, Domfront, Avranche and Mont St Michel all with 45 min drive. Excellant trout / Carp fishing at Ger ( 10 min drive ) recommended by Barry, any information regarding any wartime history or local events then Barry and Sally will gladly share their local knowledge with you. You will not be disappointed.

Best Regards Vic Ann Debbie Paul and Adam. Manchester. UK.

Our stay in Normandy

three young women with a child St.Petersburg, Russia
Review Submitted: June 18, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
First of all I want to mention that we felt at home there. Location is great, rural, just what we actually needed and were looking for! Quiet, beautiful place will lots of flowers all around. Every day in the morning we were listening to the birds songs. It was so nice!
The cottage itself is very cozy and comfortably organised, it is one of the best cottages I've ever stayed at. We had everything we might need, all the plates and dishes, pans, pots, wine glasses, etc. Everything!
Bedrooms are also very nice, with large beds, wardrobes, and all the necessary stuff such as hangers, lamps, bed linen, towels. I also saw there a cot and a high chair for a child:) In the evenings we loved to sit near the fireplace with a glass of wine, making plans for the next day (we visited all the neighboring places of interest such as Mont-St-Michel, St Malo, Dinan, Étretat, all of these places were easily reached by car).
The owners Barry and Sally were very helpful and did their best to make us feel at home. No doubt we will recommend their property to all our friends. And we will surely come back one day..)

Xmas around the Log Burner

Grajock Carterton, Oxfordshire
Review Submitted: December 29, 2008 Date of Stay: December 2008
The family (Mom, Dad, Son, Daughter-in-Law, Grandson and grandaughter spent Christmas in this wonderfully equipped Gite. Normally (even with British owners) the basics are supplied but here every conceivable item and creature comfort had been thought of including a small bottle of Calvados to welcome us to Normandy.
We went out to eat twice and can recommend the Jug & Jive in Ger (10 minutes away).
Visits to Vire and Flers are interesting however should anyone visit at Christmas the lights at Beauchane are a must see.
Thank you Barry and Sally for a most enjoyable stay.

Chez Barry

NB and LB Hertford
Review Submitted: September 1, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
A lovely location and an attractive cottage to spend a wonderfully relaxing week exploring Normandy. We managed day trips to Mont-Saint-Michel (looks fascinating from a distance but very crowded inside!) and Granville on the coast. The Grande and Petite Cascades in Mortain are well worth a visit. Had some nice meals in Mortain and Ger, but mainly ate in.

The cottage is comfortable and well equipped. The weather let us down somewhat, but gave us a great excuse to make use of the wood burning stove (if not the pool in the garden).

The whole family, Mum, Dad a 13 year old and a 9 year old left felling relaxed and refreshed after our 'away from it all' week.

Barry and Sally are great hosts, Barry being more than happy to tell you all about the history of the building and his progress 'next door'. We would definately recommend Chez Barry as a place to stay.
