Apartment of 100 square meters, in a characteristic historic house (A. D. 1700) recently refurbished with very nice local tiles . Near to the beaches at 4 km from the Sorrento center. At the first and second floor, it is composed from 3 bed rooms (one little studio with 1/ 2 beds, 1 main sleeping room with a double bed and the third sleeping room with 2 single beds) 2 bathrooms; a cooking room and a spacious living with a nice vault. On the upper level you have a wide terrace (30 mq) when you can eat and live plus a sun deck from where you have a beautiful view of Napoli gulf and the surrounding hills. You have several shops and restaurants at a walking distance. In the touristic season you can reach by elevator the beach (sandy or rocky you can choose) that's just under the house. A bus pick you at Capodichino Airport. The house is well linked by bus to Sorrento, Pompei, Ercolano, Napoli. From Sorrento port you have several battles to Positano, Amalfi, Capri, Vietri.
My wife and I bought this house at first sight because we love it at the first meeting. An old building (1700) perfectly restored with the utmost respect of the aechitectural styles of the area.
Giuseppe Gallo purchased this apartment in 2003
We got it thinking of going to live after retirement for the pleasantness of the climate and the friendliness of the people. I know the area since my childhood because I had been on holiday before and then in Praiano to Positano, on the Amalfi Coast.
The house was decorated in a light and pleasant style. Very well equipped. It was clean and well maintained. There is a roof area that has some good views of the hills behind Meta and partial views of the sea.
There is no easy parking so using public transport or motorbikes would be best. There are regular buses from the airport that stop in Meta (timetable can be found via Google).
We had a very reasonable meal at Taverna Pulcinella just down the road. Public transport is generally very good though some buses can be full. There is an approx 15 minute walk to the Circumvesuviana which gets you to Pompeii/Herculaneum and other sites very easily. Pompeii is fantastic and deserved more time than we allowed (Vesuvius takes more than the 3 hours suggested to visit).
Boat trip information in Sorrento in particular was very unreliable for the boats to Amalfi. It was a relatively short trip by bus from Meta to Positano (which is one of the nicest towns to visit in the area) and you could get a boat to Amalfi from there or vice versa.
Overall a marvellous trip.
We all loved the apartment, which is very spacious and comfortable and is more like a house as it is on 3 levels and has the lovely roof terrace and sun-bathing deck. We didn't want to leave the apartment to come home and could have stayed there much much longer.
The only criticism would be not enough towels provided but as we had use of the washing machine we just washed them and they were dried in no time on the roof "drying green"!
Fortuna collected us from the train station when we arrived which was very much appreciated and we thank her for that and also for the extra key.
We ate at several restaurants nearby but our favourite was Tico Tico. (Lovely seafood). The locals in Meta were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help us. The local bar even tuned his TV in for us to watch the Scottish Referendum unfold.
We had a great stay in the first week of May 2014. It was everything that they said it was. Fortuna was nice and her friend invited us to her house so we could see how mozzarella cheese was made. Parking was available nearby and is very reasonable, we left our car there the whole week (recommended). We had a great week and the accommodations were excellent. Everything you need is nearby. Sorrento is a beautiful place. The view from the rooftop is awesome. I would recommend this place to any family looking for a reasonable priced apartment near Sorrento that is very clean and well maintained.
We spent 10 days in this beautiful house with our teenage children. The flat was gorgeous and the views of the sea from the house and the terrace were stunning. The sea breeze was welcome and the beach and the sea were only a short walk away -( we got used to the stairs quickly!!)
Meta is quieter than the other touristy towns in the area, but we really liked being part of the town, the local shops sold delicious local food, and there were lovely restaurants close by. We used public transport which was really easy to get around and getting to Sorrento as well as Pompeii/ Vesuvius and the towns of Amalfi and Positano was simple. All in all we had a really wonderful holiday.
We had a lovely time in Meta staying at your place. The apartment is very nice and extremely well situated for exploring the area (Sorrento, Isle of Capri, Amalfi in one direction and Naples, Herculaneum and Pompeii in the other). Fortuna was very helpful to us whenever we ran into problems, even picking us up from the train station when we first arrived - we appreciated her a lot. We also appreciated how easy to deal with and helpful you were through our email correspondence. Thank you for sharing your place with us!
We went to Sorrento for a week as my mate had a congress there and picked on this appartment as we wanted some privacy not just a Hotel. We were looking for some peace rather than staying in the Sorrento chaos and after all Sorrento it isn't at all far from Meta...
He could take the train every morning, the station is walking distance from the house, and be at work in 5 minutes...just the time me and my friends needed to reach the beach from home! yes correct the beach it's just there with all the services.
The appartment is very nice and tidy, very interesting with the different levels on which it's disposed. The terrace is great, the view marvellous and we had great breakfasts and "aperitivo". If you don't bother going to the beach, laying in the sun up there it's just what you need.
The house is very bright, nice the view also from the living room, very comfortable too. We had great dinners in the fully furbished kitchen, dishwasher, washingmachine and all you need. The bedrooms and bathrooms are nice and adorably decorated, plenty of space.
You can of course go out for dinner, restaurant and pizzeria are close by, but, just outside the house you can buy the most incredible mozzarella fresh made every day. Th eother shops have everything you need so we mainly cooked at home.
I really do reccomend this house. The location is quiet but everything is so close that you can go around Sorrento, Positano, Capri, Amalfi...everywhere we absolutely no problem at all.
Thanks for the marvellous holiday.
The house is located in Sorrento - Meta (an ancient village of sailors). This is the ideal site to make trips to Pompei, Ercolano, Oplontis, Volcano or Napoli by the railway Circumvesuviana or by bus. You can reach easily Positano and Amalfi by bus.
You may also visit by bus or by boat (from Sorrento) Positano, Amalfi, Ravello and Capri island.
A bus link stops at a hundred meters from the house. At the same distance you can find an elevator to go to the beach (only in the touristic season). From the beautiful church S. Maria del Lauro, at one kilometer to the house, a bus pick up you in one hour to the Naples Capodichino Airport.
