Luxury **** 3-room chalet with two south facing balconies.Wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. All floors in chalet are wooden or slate. Furnished in contemporary manner with leather upholstery. This beautiful chalet is on two floors, the top floor is open plan with living room (sofa bed), dining and kitchen area all with vaulted ceilings. Cable TV with DVD. Free standing wood burning stove. The kitchen is superbly equipped with Sieman's units incl dish washer, fridge, microwave. Bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. On the ground floor two double rooms with four single beds. Bathroom with bath, shower, sink & toilet. Staircase to the first floor. Ground floor storage room at entrance with washing machine. The Ski Bus stop is a 75m away which takes you direct to the ski lifts and town centre. Skis and Boots can be stored near the lift stations. Wireless broadband internet connection.

Saas Fee (1800m) is a very charming, traditional Swiss traffic-free village of 1200 people. Surrounded in a spectacular setting by glaciers and dramatic mountains rising in excess of 4,000 meters, Saas Fee is justifiably known as the 'Pearl of the Alps'. This romantic Swiss village with its old chalets, quaint shops and narrow cobblestone streets is considered one of the top resorts in Switzerland, and is also one of its best kept secrets. With over 70 restaurants, several night clubs and an abundance of shops, this resort has something for everyone. Visitors park in the multi-storey car park at the entrance to the car-free village. With most of the skiing between 2,500 and 3,500m skiing is possible throughout the year.Non-skiers can enjoy the lovely mountain walks.Other activities include toboganning,ice skating and an indoor pool and tennis court in the sports centre.Chalet Alex is a 7-10 min walk to the centre,a 15 min walk to the lifts and a 2 min walk(75m) to the ski bus stop.

Ski: The winter snow sports area in the Saas Valley with its more than 140 km of groomed pistes has something special for everyone: wide, smooth pistes for carvers, moguls pistes for experts, flat pistes for beginners. The great advantage of the Saas Valley's snow sports area is that it has guaranteed snow. Because of its high altitude with pistes up to 3600 m above sea-level and the ski area on the glacier, guaranteed skiing and snowboarding all year round. All pistes which are not on the glacier have snow-making with 80 snow-cannons. The runs back down to the resorts are maintained without the use of chemicals until the end of the season. Snowboarders and freestyle skiers will find their own little paradise at the Snow Park at the Mittelallalin. The park is groomed all year, with a half-pipe, kickers and rails. You can also relax on a comfortable couch to the sound of good music in the 'Chill Zone'. Saas Fee up to the minute snow reports.

We rented the chalet for two weeks in jan. 2009. Found just the place we were looking for: Clean; quiet; modern and at the same time chalet-like (wooden) accomodation; well equipped kitchen, kitchenware you liked to use; modern bathrooms; nice view; a place to also feel comfortable about when staying at home in the evening, although the lovely village invites going out (electric cars only). We loved taking the few stairs from the chalet up or down to the tiny ways to walk "downtown" every day for any purpose you think of (getting fresh bread from the bakery in the morning, going to the slopes, going shopping or going out for a nice dinner or a drink). The owners tips of where to go were excellent, thank you.Certainly a place to come back to.

Early skiing in style at Chalet Alexandra

The Chalet was booked in December and we had masses of snow which made it so picturesque, because of its location at the far end of the village but we did not mind the walk to the skilifts -being too tight to get a taxi! Buses stop about 100 metres away but don't start running till Christmas. The Chalet is located up heated steps and is a delight to live in. Very clean, well appointed with good quality modern furniture and very warm.Good showers. Lovely views from the windows and balconies and we shall certainly return. The ski-ing was great with too much snow if anything and the village is very attractive with excellent restaurants offering great cuisine. Walks are plentiful in the woods and well marked out - we had a delightful last day walking to have lunch in a little wood cabin above Saas Fee with masses of atmosphere and great food. Leaving our skis and boots in a heated room at the base of the slopes was a must and easily arranged through Cesar Sports. We would also recommend the method of travel we used - cheap flight to Geneva then excellent swiss trains through to Visp and then the bus up to Saas Fee - finally a walk through the snow to Chalet Alexandra - a great days travel -all on time of course and a good start to our holiday.
