Our Comments On This Appartment In Sankt-Gilgen
Review Submitted: August 22, 2008

The apartment is in a ground floor location within an elevated block with lovely views, however it is a bit of a drag up the hill out of the village and the street lamps were always out. You had better take a torch if walking back from the town. The apartment had a large bedroom with plenty of storage when you put the surplus duvets on the top of the wardrobe. The bed linen could have done with renewing, our duvet cover was torn at the bottom. The electrical sockets appeared to be a bit loose, incapable of holding a UK adaptor and in our view dangerous. Somewhat annoying when trying to use any electrical item such as hairdryer, shaver etc. The bathroom and separate toilet were fine. The lounge consisted of very old furniture. There were no coasters to put hot drinks on. The spare blankets could have done with renewing as these had a stale smell. The light fitting in the lounge was very old and looked as if it had had a repair at some time. The kitchen was OK. The balcony had a lovely view over the car park with the lake in the back ground, but the table and chairs could have done with renewing and there was a door mat which had clearly seen better days. The washing machine/dryer room were good. Only thing was you could not wash at weekends and after 19.00.
Owner's Response: Many holidaymakers have returned again and again to this apartment because it is so comfortable, is such good value and because it is in a wonderful location - within easy reach of Salzburg airport, quietly situated at the end of a cul de sac, lovely views, walking paths from the door-step, 350 metres from the well-stocked supermarket & friendly, efficient tourist office and half a mile from the delightful village centre of St Gilgen which features in many holiday brochures.
The issues referrred to have been fixed by the resident agent. He is quite efficient and would have done so within 24 hours had this holidaymaker contacted him.
Furniture in the lounge and dining area is of a traditional Austrian style in antique oak, all beautifully co-ordinated, exactly as in the photographs. View from the balcony is also as per the property photographs - shrubs, trees, lawn (& car park) at the bottom, part of Lake Wolfgang in the middle background and then fabulous mountains on either side of Wolfgangsee.
The local authority was notified by the agent about the failed street light - it was fixed promptly. Location of the flat is up a gentle hill - the short climb is well worth while for the great views.
Washing machine usage restictions are to ensure quietness for other residents; however, an exception can be made by the agent, if he is contacted.
Other guests have not had problems with UK adapters -- but they do need to be of good quality. Spare blankets have been aired - they are hardly used by anyone because there are already 2 duvets per person. There is plenty of spare bedlinen. Coasters, door mat & light fitting have been replaced but not the charming patio table & chairs.
This is an outstanding value flat according to most previous guests, accommodating up to 5 persons in 53 sq m of space and you'll get the full Austrian experience in this area - wonderful mountains, cable cars for easy access to the tops, a clean region free of litter, traditional and friendly hospitality, safe & crime-free and lots of choice in activities.
