Deya Vacation Rental : Deia

The villa was more beautiful than the photos! The bedrooms were nicely decorated. Only the master had a/c and it was quite warm when we were there in August so it was needed. Other 2 bedrooms had ceiling fans which added some relief. Master bedroom did not have ceiling fan. We found a small tabletop fan in closet to use in master bedroom when it was not hot enough for a/c but slightly warm at bedtime. "Livingroom" had just small leather sofa in front of TV (Olympics were on and all 6 of us wanted to hunker down and watch them) so had to move kitchen table chairs in for additional seating. Room with pool table was air conditioned. One night our teenagers pulled the chaise lounge cushions down from the pool area to sleep on in air conditioned pool table room. Thre is no washer or dryer in the guest villa as listed. It is in the owneres private residence. When we asked the property manager about laundering the beach towels and some clothing, she told us to put it out for cleaning lady Wed morning. Since cleaning lady only comes Wed, washer and dryer are not readily available other than Wed. Grounds are spectacular. Lemon, lime, plum and olive trees dot the property. We found passion fruit and even a star fruit plant in the fountain one day! We hiked the grounds and found something new and exciting each day. The pool and surrounding patio are beautiful and well maintained but a series of stone steps up from the house. It is easier to eat meals on smaller patio just outside kitchen as schlepping food and drink up is a task. The driveway up to the villa from the street is very narrow with many switchbacks. We had a large van which made maneuvering the driveway difficult. I would suggest a compact car. All in all, the villa is beautiful and we will definitely return with a smaller car and maybe not in August since the a/c is only in the master and pool table room. The owner is very helpful and kind. The property more than exceded our expectations.
We saw alot of the island and did not pass through a town more beautiful than Deia.We highly reccommend the restaurant at the port in Valdemossa, the restaurant at Cala Deia and Bens D'Vall for a tasting menu of 11 courses for a splurge.Dessert at the Residencia was lovely.The supermarket in Deia is fine; the bakery was not very good. There was a lovely bakery in Valdemossa, if you are passing through.
We will return to Deia and we will stay at Son Ripol!
