Il Molino is a beautiful 2 bedroom house with private garden surrounded by rosemary, lavender & olive trees, located within the beautifully restored 13th century Castello di Gaiche, one of the oldest castles in Umbria. The house has been refurnished & redecorated to a high standard with real log fire, one of the 2 double bedrooms has a balcony area, the garden has a marble dinning table & chairs, the kitchen benefits from a dishwasher & washing machine. Castello di Gaiche is reached by a private 1 mile driveway, positioned at the top of a hill overlooking Nestore Valley, Behind the hill is approximately 20 square miles of beautiful hilly wooded countryside perfect for walking. The castle has a large pool with sun lounger’s & umbrellas, with stunning views of the valley. 6 acres of Castle grounds are perfect for reading & dining under the pagodas. (pool and gardens are always quiet) Nearby are the walled medieval town of Panical, Paciano & Perugia all steeped in history.

The property is positioned in a hilly rural area surrounded by woodland, where many varieties of flora and fauna can be found. Within 8 kilometres there are at least 4 beautiful walled villages each with restaurants and bars. Slightly further a field is Perugia, Todi, Assis and Sienna. The Tuscan border is only 10 km away, with many towns and villages to visit. The A1 Autostrader is 18 km away, where within a 1 hour drive you can reach Florence to the north and Rome to the south.

Everything you could hope for...and more

When we first entered the cottage and looked around all four of us were giddy. This place is absolutely beautiful and just as shown in the photos. The furnishings are modern and very comfortable while still maintaining the rustic feel of the castle.
As a central place to visit hilltowns by car it was fabulous. The view from the backyard is super...especially while enjoying some local wine and cheese. We cooked several meals in the kitchen using produce from the area markets which was fantastic.
The owner's suggestions for restaurants were bang on as well and we enjoyed dining with the locals in Tavernelle and Castiglion Fosco.
We were in Italy for three weeks and travelled from the south up to Venice. We stayed in some lovely hotels and apartments but Il Molino, Castle di Gaiche was the best experience we had and was a "forever" memory for all four of us.

A quiet retreat

We have just returned from 5 wonderful days at this house. Set high in the hills, we felt on top of the world. The house offered all mod cons and was extremely comfortable. The gardens were lovely and the views - well - you need to see them to believe. We met some lovely people who were staying in the apartment in the main converted castle. We would recommend this location for anyone who wants a great base for visiting traditional hill-top villages and larger towns such as Assisi and Todi.
