10th Arrondissement Canal St Martin Vacation Rental apartment

We stayed here for a week in late May.The girls responded quickly to all our inquiries which was great as we found that many do not even bother to answer your emails.The instructions on how to get to and into the apartment are very clear. It is within walking distance of Gare Du Nord. The supermarket is at the entrance to the building and there are a couple of metro's close by. If you can use Gare de l'est rather than Chateau d'Eau. Chateau is in a largely African dominated area and they hover at the top of the stairs of the metro. You can feel a bit threatened by them although we never had any problems with them. The apartment is great for 2 people and is light and airy. The window sill is large enough to sit on and gets lots of sunshine. There is a school near by and it can get noisy if you are there during the lunch times..not that you are normally in the apartment anyway during the day. We think we had a shift worker in the apartment above us but you have to expect night noise if you are in an apartment block. Yes the stairs are steep and the upstairs area including the bathroom can get hot so a small fan might be useful if the weather is hot. The apartment is nice and warm even on cold days. It is very well equipped although a washing machine might be more useful than a dishwasher. The canal boat goes up the St Martin canal at 3pm each afternoon if you want to see the locks working. We liked the Rodin museum and the Music Museum..well worth it even for non music people. The apartment complex is very secure but we got our wallet pickpocketed at Pigalle metro when we were buying tickets. The police told us it is the worst metro for this occurring. We thought we were careful but these guys are brilliant..never felt a thing..it was just gone. So take care.
