A three minute walk straight out the front door puts you standing on a beautiful white sandy beach on the Gulf of Mexico. Beautiful historic Victorian home built in 1900 situated on Second Street in a very established and charming neighborhood graced by lovely plantings including camelias and numerous towering live oaks.

This neighborhood affords the opportunity for great walks with your family or your dog. This home has been completely updated and features the original high ceilings and heart pine floors. A wrap around porch with wicker furniture and a double 'love' swing greet newcomers as they ascend the front porch.

The front door opens to a spacious living room with plenty of seating and television and fireplace for entertaining. To the left are French doors that open to a lovely front reading room abundant with windows and natural light allowing house guests to get lost in their favorite novel. This room with hard pine flooring and high ceiling is furnished with antiques and tiffany lamps and has the added comfort and convenience of having its own bathroom. The cozy couch opens up to a queen sized bed for your invited guests. The oversized formal dining room has a built-in cabinet with hard pine flooring and high ceiling. A wonderful setting to 'wine and dine' your family and guests.

The main floor has two bedrooms each with a queen sized bed and private bathroom. The staircase leads to a separate bedroom upstairs with bathroom. The upstairs bedroom has numerous windows. The beckoning beach and beautiful Gulf of Mexico can be seen in the distance. The room is furnished with two queen size beds. A perfect room for a couple with kids or a place for all the kids. Two of the three bedrooms have their own TV with VHS and/or DVD.

The kitchen is a full sized kitchen including an island with stools and a dining table. The kitchen is the centerpiece of the house and its beauty will pleasantly surprise you. The kitchen's back door opens onto a very spacious wood deck as well as a brick patio both fully furnished with furniture as well as a gas grill. A very beautiful and spacious backyard with live oaks and copious amounts of shade await your coming. The property spans four city lots and therefore has plenty of room for parking vehicles for 'Cruisin' the Coast' and for your boat and trailer or camper.

Downtown Gulfport is a short walk away. If you like to walk the ISLAND VIEW CASINO RESORT is also within walking distance. The gaming destinations along this 26 mile beach are second only to Vegas.

The 26 mile long beach is a gorgeous beach to explore with numerous wharfs, beach activities, shopping, beachcombing, and restaurants. Biloxi with its numerous casinos is just a few minutes away by car, bike or the local transportation.

The beach is home to the charming, small southern towns of Long Beach, Pass Christian and Bay St. Louis which are great for shopping for antiques. The area has over 20 golf courses including one of the 'top ten' public golf courses in the country. The casinos and Biloxi coliseum offer grand entertainment and numerous live shows. The fabulous and historic town of New Orleans is only an hour away.

The Gulfport harbor offers daily excursions to Cat Island. The Gulf Islands National Seashore is only a dozen miles off the coast and affords great swimming and a quiet place to hang out on your boat.

About The Owner

I am a pilot, a Captain with a major airline and have traveled all over the world. In all of my travels I have found the beaches of southern Mississippi to be some of the best and the beaches of the offshore islands are simply beautiful. The southern hospitality in this town is wonderful. My daughter in the picture loves it here in Gulfport.

The Owner purchased this house in 2005

Why The Owner chose Gulfport

We like this area for the beaches and the offshore islands. You can't beat the proximity to the beaches, the golf courses, the casinos and the nearby military bases.

What makes this house unique

We like to walk the beach in the morning right at sunrise and again in the evening at sunset. We also enjoy walking to the nearby piers and fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. We enjoy walking out our front door and crossing the street into the parking lot of the local Italian restaurant 'Salute' and feasting on great Italian fare and good Italian wine.

Love this beautiful house and the owners are so gracious and kind. I hand the pleasure of meeting the family last summer, so kind.! I have stayed at the HHH August .2014 and we had the most beautiful 2014 Christmas in this home and made new memories.! John told us we could decorate for Christmas and we did. That made it even more special.!!! We love to cook so the kitchen is oh so fabulous, with everything and more that you would need to prepare a wonder meal and the grill on the deck is oh so great. We love to sit out back with a cocktail and watch our fur babies run and play in the big back yard. Short walk across the street and your at the beach and a few more steps and your at Jones Park, and downtown Gulfport.

So excited we are headed to the HHH next week for a nine day stay and then we will start counting days before we leave for our visits in Aug. and Dec. Love this house.!!!

FABULOUS EXPERIENCE

  • 5 of 5

The owners were extremely helpful and courteous and very attentive to our needs. We are a high maintenance family and the owners went above and beyond to make us comfortable and situated; very, very helpful. An absolutely gorgeous home and very clean. Loved the kitchen and bathrooms and had lots of space for our big family. Lots of fun on the old style Victorian front porch and had memorable times and barbecues on the backyard deck. Walked to the beach every morning to see the sunrise and every night to see the sunset. Both the grandparents and grandchildren had a FABULOUS EXPERIENCE. Already have made plans for the same time next year.

Beautiful home! Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience with the owner. The air conditioner was not working properly, and we contacted the owner 4 times to have the problem fixed. He did not send anyone over to check out the problem until 11pm. Even then, the owner's contractor could not fix the problem. We had to wait until the next morning to have air condition (in 80 degree weather). Also, he controls the temperature over the internet from Michigan (a lot colder up there then in Gulfport, MS). He also has several surveillance cameras around the home. We felt like we were being watched the whole time during the stay. I will never rent from this owner again. Too bad the beautiful home was wasted on a terrible owner. And the owner made no attempt to make up for the lack of service.

Owner's Response: DECEPTION, LIES, ABUSE OF PROPERTY AND EXTORTION!!! Please read all of the reviews from the past 10 years as they are all very positive, 5 starred and they do not involve deceptive guests. The guests who wrote this review requested the home for 2 adults and ended up using our home for a wedding party with over 50 guests. The contract they signed and agreed to states 10 adults max for sleeping yet they had 16 adults in the home for quarters. They drove over our front yard and gardens with pickup trucks and parked trailers and trucks in the backyard as well. My neighbor called after seeing this and asked me who the hillbillies were who were abusing and tearing up my property. On a very late Friday night one of the two AC units was not working. Upon confirmation, my contractor went to the home. Within 8 hours of troubleshooting by my contractor who was on site within one hour of the problem, my licensed Air Conditioning repairman was on site with parts and had it repaired. He has been my repairman for 10 years and is very professional and always able to accommodate. The upstairs AC was working fine and will cool the entire home comfortably but not if the house guests are having a wedding party with over 50 guests and all the doors are open to accommodate people lounging throughout the home, the front porch and back deck. There are security cameras only on the exterior of the home and the recordings are not viewed or monitored by the home owner. The hard drive is in the attic and reviewed by the Gulfport Police in case of a break in. However, if one is involved in deception and driving on your lawn and has over 50 guests on the property instead of the stated 2 then perhaps just the sight of security cameras on the outside of the home would make them uncomfortable. The thermostats are controlled by the house guest through a smartphone app or by the owner if the house guest prefers. The temperature is set to the house guest's choice. Our record of providing fine service and a beautiful home to our house guests stands on its own as is evident by all of our superior reviews over the past ten years. This is our first experience of deception, lies and abuse of our home since we started with VRBO 10 years ago. In the past 10 years, we have overcome hurricane Katrina, the BP oil spill and Chinese Dry Wall. When my neighbor called me and stated there were a bunch of Hillbillies driving their pickup trucks across my front lawn I started getting nervous. Rightfully so!!!

Wonderful for my Writers Retreat

  • 5 of 5

I needed an affordable place that would provide ample space for a group of writers for a writers retreat. This house fit the bill perfectly. Room for everyone to have privacy and nice space for folks to come together. Easy walk to the beach and in a nice neighborhood for walking, as well. Clean and comfortably furnished. I know I'll be back.

Great Place With Everything You Need

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Historic Harrison House in June. The weather was great and it is short walk to the beach. There was 8 adults and 2 children and we all had enough bathrooms so know one ever had to wait for someone to get ready. The roomy house was a delight. The front porch is the best porch in Gulf Port we would sit there in the evenings and all day long. The back patio has a grill and table we sat outside to eat supper. I would recommend this house to anyone going to Gulf Port it has everything you need. Owner was very helpful in answering questions. Some of us went on a airboat ride that was not to far away. The White Cap restaurant is an excellent place to eat and not far away.

Excellent would do it again.
