Garlenda Vacation Rental apartment: Reg. San Rocco - Garlenda

After a short drive from Nice airport we entered Italy & after a breathtaking journey along the Autostrada our sat nav guided us through the electronic gates of La Ramara. David, who was far younger than we imagined, greeted us warmly & made us feel immediately at home. We began to relax & slipped effortlessly into holiday mode during the brief tour of La Ramara.
A farm building in a previous life, La Ramara has been renovated to a high st&ard. Our apartment - one of three which are all similar in layout & design - was clean & providing everything we needed to make our two week stay a pleasant one. There was a well appointed kitchen & bathroom & an efficient air conditioning system. Screens on the windows ensured no mosquitoes or other insects could enter. There was a double bed - surprisingly comfortable considering it converted to a sofa during the day – & two bunk beds which folded up against the wall giving floor space during the day. Each apartment also had its own private & shaded patio area with table, chairs & brick BBQ. There was also a laundry room where giant chessmen waited to be used on the giant board next to the car park. Two mountain bikes were also available for those keen enough.
Occupying an elevated position the infinity swimming pool provided stunning views of distant wooded hills. David explained that bacteria in the pool are kept at bay not by Chlorine but a slightly salty alternative which was much kinder on the eyes. There was also a solar shower which magically provided an almost endless supply of hot (if needed) or cold water allowing you to ‘rinse off’ before entering or leaving the pool,.
It was tempting to spend too much time by the pool on one of the sun loungers or in the pool. Gazing over the golf course to the wooded valleys beyond the trees occasionally giving way to houses & small villages set into the hillside it was easy to succumb to idleness. This temptation should be avoided as beyond La Ramara there is much to see & experience. Make a start by visiting Pizzeria Da Ingaro in Gallenda. We ate regularly here & you must try the ‘spaghetti alla whisky’. However, please venture further along the coast, in both directions & into the hills, to experience this stunning region fully.
In La Ramara David has created a perfect base from which to explore the Italian Riviera & we thank him for the welcome he provided, for his friendship during our stay & making our holiday a very memorable one.
