Well Cottage comprises the entire property in the main photography. There is just one property but it is listed twice to enable us to include two price lists showing our discounted prices for smaller groups out of high season. It is in West Buckland, in a conservation area and designated area of outstanding natural beauty. With parts of the cottage dating back over 300 years, it is full of character. With 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, slate floors on the ground floor, newly fitted and well-equipped kitchen, beautiful beamed sitting room with feature fire place and multi-fuel stove, central heating throughout and a sunny, sheltered garden with views across the valley, it is both an ideal family holiday home and a very cosy winter retreat for couples and groups. It is within easy walking distance of the renowned Sloop Inn at Bantham and under a mile from Bantham beach lying at the mouth of the winding river Avon. General store at Bantham and PO/general store at Thurlestone (1 mile).

This is not a separate unit. Well Cottage is just one property but it is shown twice so we can show you our discounted rates for smaller parties out of high season. The accommodation, which has central heating throughout and natural slate flooring on the ground floor, has an entrance hall, good sized and well-equipped farmhouse style kitchen/breakfast room with exposed beams, a large sitting room (3 seater and 2 seater sofas plus 2 armchairs), exposed beams, recessed fireplace with multi-fuel stove and dining table. An oak staircase leads upstairs where there are 4 bedrooms, one master king with en suite and a stable door with direct access to the patio and garden, one single, one double with hand basin, one twin and a further bathroom. Outside there is a large courtyard (set back from the road) with steps up to the patio area and sunny south facing garden. The garden is very sheltered and enjoys views over the village to the countryside beyond.

West Buckland is a picturesque hamlet 1/2 mile from Bantham. A quiet and peaceful location yet ideally situated for access to all local beaches, coast and inland walks and other amenities such as 9 and 18 hole golf courses at Thurlestone (1.5 miles). Bantham beach (1 mile) lies at the mouth of the winding River Avon and is the best surfing beach in the area but is also great for children with soft sand, sand dunes and rock pools. It overlooks the famous Burgh Island with its art deco hotel which is accessible from Bigbury on foot at low tide and by sea tractor at high tide. It is 5 miles from the market town of Kingsbridge, 8 miles from Salcombe, the sailing centre and Dartmoor, Plymouth and other visitor attractions are easily accessable. There are local convenience stores and pubs serving food at Bantham and Thurlestone (nearest Sloop Inn 1/2 mile). There are more shops and restaurants in Kingsbridge and Salcombe which also offer a leisure centre and boat trips.
