Our traditional single story cottage with modern facilities has been renovated to a very high standard with families and couples in mind. The cottage consists of two bedrooms that sleeps 6, a large kitchen / dining room, a family bathroom, a relaxing living room, a games room (table tennis, electronic darts, air hockey) a terrace BBQ area with fantastic views and plenty of enclosed outdoor space (great for kids) that includes over 100 fruit trees and wine producing vines. The kitchen / dining room is defiantly the heart of the house. The large dining table seats 10, and there is a traditional Hungarian bread oven / heater in the corner of the room. Slovenia is all about the great out-doors and to help you take full advantage we provide cycles for you to use. We are a British family and live just 25 mins. from our holiday cottage in Fokovci and we look forward to welcoming you. We have been renting out the holiday cottage since 2005 and have lots of good feedback and reviews!

Situated in the Goricko National Park in the North East region of Slovenia called Prekmurje, our single storey cottage offers very comfortable accommodation in a tranquil setting, but just 15km away from Prekmurje’s largest town, Murska Sobota. Fokovci village is just 8km from one of the 5 thermal spas local to us called Terme 3000. This huge leisure complex includes an 18 hole golf course & 22 indoor and outdoor pools of various depths and temperatures. There are slides, saunas, Jacuzzis and various health and beauty treatments available. It's open all year round & is great for all ages. Our cottage is a perfect base to explore the region, by cycling through the many pretty villages, stopping from time to time for a coffee or a well earned beer. Our guests in 2006 thought that our cottage was superb as it gave them the flexibility to explore Slovenia and neighbouring Hungary, Austria and Croatia. They also enjoyed relaxing at the cottage taking in the views from the BBQ terrace.

  • To make a reservation please complete our on-line booking form that can be found on our web site. (Please enquire for details). The price we charge is for the cottage for each night and not per person. We can also arrange airport transfers from Graz airport so that your holiday can start as soon as you board the plane. We can arrange car hire at very competitive rates to be delivered to your cottage.
  • A deposit for three days stay is required to guarantee the booking. Details of this will be included on your holiday conformation once you have submitted your booking form. The balance is due on arrival.
  • 10% Discount is given if there are just two people. Any other special offers or discounts will be published on our web site. We welcome well behaved pets at no extra charge. Fokovci cottage is open all year round as an oil fired central heating system has been installed.

  • The bathroom is clean, bright and modern. There is a vanity unit with sink, cupboard and over head light. There is a bath with an overhead shower, as well as a w.c. and a washing machine. Toilet roll and hand wash are provided as well as general cleaning products. Towels are provided.

  • The large spacious master / family room consists of a double bed with bedside tables and lamps situated at each side. There are wooden bunk beds which makes this a great family room. There is a large mirrored wardrobe as well as two sets of draws. Two windows let in ample light, and a TV/ DVD and satellite system is installed in the bedroom. The twin room is situated next door. There are two single beds, a bedside table and lamp and a wardrobe and draws. There is also a TV / DVD and video. The advantage of the single story house over a two story house is that the bedrooms stay much cooler in the summer. For the winter there are radiators in all rooms.

Notes: The lounge area is situated at the end of the house. It has windows around three sides and is bright and relaxing. There is a DVD / stereo system with surround sound. In the cupboards you will find a selection of DVD'S, videos, board games and books for your use. From the lounge area a door leads out to a balcony (with tables and seating). There are stairs leading down into the garden. At the bottom of the stairs there is a games room where you will find table tennis, air hockey and an electronic darts game. The garden is huge and consists of over a 100 fruit trees as well as wine producing vines. For the children there is a set of swings and sea saws, as well as a sand pit and a large enclosed trampoline! Because our region is great for cycling we have purchased 6 bicycles and helmets that are free to use by our guests. Travel details: The easiest way to reach us from the UK is to fly into the Austrian airport of Graz which is just 75km from your accommodation. (Approx. 1. 5 hour). The low cost airline Ryan Air fly daily from London Stansted and air fares can be booked for as little as 0.99p! (Book early for best prices). Cars can be hired and picked up from the airport, however check charges as some charge a premium for taking cars over the border. Another option is that we can arrange transfers to and from the airport as we have a luxury 7-seater air-conditioned mini bus. (70 Euro one way). We can then arrange for a local Slovenian car rental company to deliver a car to your accommodation from €25 per day including full insurance and all the papers to drive over the borders! The national airline Adria and Easy Jet fly into the capital of Ljubljana. It is approx. a 2.5 hours drive to Prekmurje from the capital. It is also possible to drive from the UK to Prekmurje and would take around 18 hours.

For children: As we have two young children ourselves we understand the extra strain involved when travelling with children. Therefore one of our main aims is to provide accommodation that is safe and equipped for children. We provide highchairs (good quality wooden ones); cots with bedding; bouncy chairs; play gyms; bed guards; potty’s; toys and games as well as a good selection of kids videos and DVD's. Outside there are more toys as well as swings and a large enclosed trampoline! There is also a sand pit and during the hot summer we erect a paddling pool. In the kitchen cupboards you will find plastic crockery, knives and forks as well as a bottle steriliser. We have tested the accommodation rigorously by way of our 4 children who are very 'adventurous'. We think we have created a safe and fun family environment. We feel our accommodation and location are an excellent choice for families with babies, especially in early or late summer when it's not too hot or busy.

Fokovci cottage
Lou & Ian. Back to the rain and work, we miss our lovely cottage already! We couldn’t believe the renovation of the cottage. When we booked it the pictures of diggers and workmen was daunting however we trusted Louise's emails when she said that it would be ready for our visit. Its was much more than we expected. The kids loved picking the plums off the fruit trees, (what are you going to do with all those apples?)and the trampoline and paddling pool was an unexpected surprise. We loved our BBQ's on the terrace over looking the valley, in some ways this was our favourite bit of the holiday. I actually got to read a full book during this holiday as the children were so happy making dens in the garden. The bikes are a great idea and again were unexpected, we had looked at hiring them before we came but to have them at the cottage and for free was great. We wish you every success. This property is fantastic, and we had a wonderful holiday. The house was brilliant for us and our 6 year old, and being collected at the airport, as well as having a rental car erady and waiting in the driveway was fantastic! The 6 thermal spas nearby kept us busy, adn we enjoyed days out to Maribor, Ptuj and further afield to see friends at Velem in Hungary and spent a night at Pension Bohinj at Lake Bohinj which allowed us to travel across and see Lakes Bled and Lake Bohinj with ease. The house was a delight - quiet and relaxing - something for everyone!

Great family holiday in Slovenia

We have just spent Easter at Fokovci and would like to let other people know what a great place this is.
We are a family of five, with children aged between 8 and 13 and the cottage catered to everyones needs.
The trampoline and games room meant that everyone could find something to do all the time regardless of the weather (snow some days!).
The area was very nice and the local restaurant was excellent. We also enjoyed visiting the Terme 3000 - again, great for children.
Being able to bring our dog with us was a big bonus.
Thanks for a great, relaxing holiday.
