Fabulous luxury 2 bedroom self-catering penthouse apartment with wi-fi, English TV and air conditioning. Ideal for families, golfers or a romantic holiday getaway. There is a balcony along with your own private 60 M2 roof terrace (solarium) with beautiful views of the Mar Menor and the La Manga Strip. You can also see the mountains. Approximately 350m (5 min walk) from the beach, marina and shops. A 20 minute walk will bring you to a lovely picturesque village of Los Belones which has national and international restaurants at very reasonable prices. There is also an internet cafe. The famous La Manga Club is approximately 5 minutes by car and this offers championship golf courses, tennis courts, spa facilities and also a good selection of bars and restaurants. The La Manga strip is also about a 5 minute drive away where there are many shops, bars, restaurants and entertainment.

There is also a communal pool which is situated in the centre of the complex.

Smoking is permitted on the balcony.

Lovely relaxing break

The apartment was very spacious, lovely and clean and very well equipped for a self catering holiday. The private roof terrace has a great view of the local area and was a perfect sun trap for lazy sunbathing days! Also lovely for evening al fresco dining! Its location is within easy walking distance to local amenities and a great sandy beach where we spent most of our days. We hired a car to get around and found it very easy to find from the airport. Overall a very relaxing laid back break. Would love to revisit, thank you.

A relaxing warm sunny stay

Stayed for a week with my boyfriend for his birthday, we wanted to relax so spent our time mostly on the Solarium relaxing with a book. Beach was only 5 minutes away, lovely to have a coffee in the morning and go for a stroll along the beach front. Great restaurants available too, ate out every evening tastey steak and pasta. The apartment and complex is idea for a couple or a family as the pool is great for kids. I would also recommend a visit to La Manga club, the pool was great for small children, sun beds were 8euros to hire for the whole day. Again great restaurants and bars.

Faultless, relaxing and just what you want

An absolutely faultless holiday apartment. I stayed in penthouse for my birthday on a couples holiday with my girlfriend and was very pleased with our choice.

The kitchen is lovely and modern with a fridge, freezer and dishwasher - after all, no one wants to do the dishes when they're abroad do they? Everything was there as you'd expect (plates, cups, bowls, knives, folks, spoons). Kettle, gas hob, oven. Perfect if you go for a self-catering option.

The kitchen and living room area is all open plan and the aircon unit is a lovely essential to ensure you remain cool in La Manga's hot climate. The living area has a book shelf and a wide range of complimentary books - I read Bobby Robson's autobiography! There are two sofas and a coffee table and an LG flat screen TV, complete with English telly (if you did want to watch the ITV News at 10, you can do!)

Open up the patio door and you come to a nice balcony area, given you good views of the hills - but even more impressive is the stairs leading up to the roof terrace. Once at the top of the apartment, you really do get great views- and up there you will find sun loungers (essential for tan addicts) and a table where you can serve your paella! Bliss!

Back downstairs, the bathroom was nice and clean. Either side of the bathroom is a bedroom. Two bedrooms, both with two single beds, one room where the beds can be pushed together to form a double- this room had aircon (we used the other room to store our clothes!)

The location was ideal if you like a quiet and relaxing life! It was a 5-minute walk to the beach/supermarket and also a few beach side restaurants. To enjoy a greater selection of food, it's a 25-minute walk to Los Belones (or a 5-min cab at around 8-10 euro)

Overall, a luxury accommodation, much enjoyed - and I didn't even mention the swimming pool within the complex- lovely! Would def go again.

Spring holiday 2012

Holidays to us are all about relaxation and getting away from the hubbub of life at home and this type of holiday ticks so many boxes with us having just returned from our 5th visit to Mar de Cristal. As usual we had a lovely time in this lovely little village and already we are counting the weeks til we return for another week in July.

Marion and Chris’s apartment is lovely and like home from home. It was scrupulously clean and comfortable on our arrival and contains everything you could possibly need for a self-catering holiday with the added bonus of the private rooftop solarium to soak up the sun whilst enjoying the peace and quiet. We are certainly looking forward to getting more use of the solarium in July when the weather will be so much warmer.

The village was quite quiet being early in the season with the exception of the bank holiday when all the locals were out to take advantage of the nice weather and extra day off.

The staff in the Arena café and Piccolo Mare Restaurant (both situated on the promenade) were as friendly and hospitable as per our previous visits and we also enjoyed a couple of meals with friends at ‘Paddy Singhs’ restaurant at Los Urrutias which again is a place we’ll definitely be returning to. There is a bustling Sunday market at Cabo de Palos and we enjoyed a stroll around the marina before enjoying a Belmonte in the sunshine and watching the world go by.

Our sincere thanks to Roger and Janice for putting us in touch with Marion and Chris back in November and for Marion and Chris for renting their apartment to us. Their speed of response was exceptional andwe had both of our holidays booked within no time. We have recommended Mar de Cristal to our friends and colleagues as well as our family and I’m sure that it is a place (and apartment) that we will be returning to for many years to come.

Apartment is lovely - very comfortable,clean and really well equipped. The weather was very good even in mid March and so we were able to make good use of the rooftop solarium. The area is very flat and so it is possible to walk miles if you wish to get out and about to explore neighbouring towns and villages.Thank you to Marian and Chris for their quick responses to e mails etc and for making the booking process so straightforward.

Mar de Cristal is located on the Mar Menor and has 320 days of sunshine. It has approximately 42 kilometres of beaches and caters for almost all water sports. It is called the largest natural leisure pool in the world. There is a nature reserve only 5 minutes drive away. Twenty minutes drive brings you to Murcia Airport which can be reached from 19 regional airports in the UK, Ireland and also many European airports.

There are activities to suit all ages and these include horse riding, go-kart, tennis, golfing and a vast range of water sports including sailing schools, snorkelling, canoeing, water and jet skiing and much more.

There are various markets in the neighbouring villages which sell a good selection of fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, clothing, belts and footwear, household goods and lots more.

The La Manga Club is approx. 5 min. drive which offers championship golf courses, tennis courts, spa, facilities and many other activities and facilities.
