BEATIFUL PRIVATE HOME RIGHT THERE AT SHARKS COVE

Sunset Beach House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

HALE MAHANA (a restful and hospitable home) is located at the geographical center of Oahu's idyllic North Shore. Experience a taste of 'Old Hawaii' flanked by the legendary shores of Waimea Bay, Banzai Pipeline, and Sunset Beach. This small section of coast with rock, sand, and coral outcrops, is so spectacular it has been protected by the State of Hawaii as a Marine Life Conservation Area. Find out more by navigating to the owner's website under 'Links' below.

THE HOUSE has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and an elevated porch with sweeping ocean and sunset views. You will immediately relax in an open airy floorplan. Enjoy the stereo, and cable-equipped big screen TV with DVD. The fully appointed kitchen has granite countertops and facing barstools so you can talk with family and friends as you open a bottle of wine, prepare gourmet meals, or simply throw burgers on the BBQ. The master suite has a king size bed; second bedroom has a queen; and the third has two single beds.

CENTRALLY LOCATED. If you've been to the North Shore before, you'll know why return visitors want to stay in this neighborhood. Snorkeling at Shark's Cove is a 3 minute walk. Breathtaking Ke Iki beach is a 4 minute walk. We are at the south end of a 3 mile bike path which takes you past Pipeline (1 mi.), and Sunset Beach (2 mi.) In the morning, walk 2 blocks along the bike path to Starbucks, or stop at the adjacent Foodland Supermarket.

Drive south for 10 minutes and you find quaint and historic Haleiwa Town with its many restaurants, art galleries, and surf shops. Go north 10 minutes for world class golf at Turtle Bay Resort, or continue around the point to the windward side of the island and the Polynesian Cultural Center. As you explore this part of Oahu, you'll see why locals call the North Shore 'Country,' but driving time to Honolulu Airport is only 45 minutes, and Waikiki is 1 hour.

Aloha friends. Thanks for having a look and I think you'll really like the North Shore. I thought the beach where I grew up in San Clemente California was the best ever – that is until I came here. Now I make 2-3 trips per year. A typical day would be to walk to Starbucks, walk by Shark’s Cove; check snorkeling; walk, jog, or ride up the bike path; chores – lot’s of home maintenance when you’re by the ocean; go to the beach – biggest decision – which beach; relax at home; have a cocktail on the lanai and watch the sunset. Mahalo.

The Owner purchased this house in 2005

The reason I bought a home in Hawaii is largely attributed to my cousin who moved here when he became director of protected species for NOAA, and led conservation efforts for the Monk Seal and the Honu. All those years he was telling me about the magic of the North Shore. Then his son married a Hawaiian girl and they hosted a week's worth of festivities on the North Shore from Waimea Bay to Sunset Beach. After experiencing the beaches, beauty, and Aloha Spirit firsthand, I was hooked. Soon this home came available and my cousin went there and became my eyes and ears as we talked on the phone. After an hour of detailed communications, I made an offer and bought the house virtually sight unseen! It turned out to be the best move I've ever made and family, friends, and guests have been enjoying it ever since.

The best things about the property are the setting (quiet - set back off the highway); view of Shark’s Cove and Pupukea Marine Sanctuary; and perfect location – you can to Shark’s Cove for snorkeling, walk to several beaches, or walk to Starbucks for coffee!

NORTH SHORE JEWEL

  • 5 of 5
It is the perfect getaway for a family stay-cation. As locals, its hard to find a reasonable priced vacation home away from the hustle and bustle on the North Shore that's conveniently situated, extremely clean, quiet, and has all the amenities we needed. This was our 2nd time staying here, we HAD to come back for more! The decor is classy Hawaiian and the layout of the house is well planned with decent sized rooms and bathrooms. We love to cook and the kitchen was a major plus for us, very efficient in space and had all the appliances, big refrigerator, even a blender to make our favorite smoothies and sauces. The king bed in the master bedroom is the best, better than hotel quality-you won't want to wake up! The kids had a great time exploring the various terrains of rock, sand, and sea just steps away. We did lots snorkeling, shell picking, and poking around tide pools. But one of our most favorite memory is sitting at the dining room table and looking out the large picture window at the beautiful sunsets. The last time we stayed we even saw whales. This place truly is a jewel on the North Shore!

AMAZING EXPERIENCE!

  • 5 of 5
We couldn't have stayed at a better place for our first time in HI. We were ideally and centrally located within walking and driving distance of all of Oahu's major and secret attractions. We literally felt at home in paradise. We will definitely come back.

PARADISE FOUND

  • 5 of 5
I'm hesitant to give a good review, because I'd love to keep this place my little secret! Nick's place is a little slice of paradise. We had two teenage boys who loved combing the lava for treasures, catching & releasing the geckos in the yard, and would happily spend all day in Shark's Cove. Also had two grandparent along who appreciated everything being within very close walking distance. Morning coffee and donuts from Ted's bakery on the porch watching whales surface and jump (we saw them literally all day, every day!) was a great way to start the day. Ending it watching the sunset while eating delicacies from the Thai truck next to Foodmart was even better. Exceeded my expectations on all levels. It was the Spring Break of a lifetime... Mahalo, Nick!

2ND STAY AT THIS HOUSE--ENOUGH SAID!!!

  • 5 of 5
This was our second stay at Nick's house. We have always enjoyed the laid back feel of the North Shore and is the perfect place to get into vacation mode. For me to stay at this place a second time says it all. Nick is easy to deal with and always helpful. We plan to stay here again during our next visit to Oahu.

GREAT LOCATION ON NORTH SHORE OF OAHU

  • 5 of 5
We spent the month of January here for the second year. We love the property for its proximity to the bike path, and ability to walk/bike to Shark's Cove,Three Tables, Foodland, Waimea, and the Pipeline. The house is extremely well-equipped and maintained - the kitchen is fabulous for preparing meals and the layout of the house is great. It has all the necessary appliances and any equipment you might need for the beach. A wonderful place that can feel like home because of the amnities Nick provides.

FANTASTIC OAHU NORTH SHORE RENTAL WITH EVERYTHING YOU NEED

  • 5 of 5
We spent a month with friends at this fully equipped home with spectacular views, a gorgeous incredibly well equipped kitchen, and great location. We cooked all of our meals and did a lot of baking and had all the equipment we needed for all types of cooking whether it was Asian stir frying or cooking a big pot of pasta. Nick was incredibly responsive to any question or minor issue we encountered. The photos do not do justice to the property and we will certainly return here. The Waialua Farmers market coop on Saturday mornings is the best place to buy fresh vegetables particularly local grown asparagus; it's a true farmer's market so if you're planning on cooking, definitely check it out.
