Photos and Description of the Fes vacation house rental 3 double Bedrooms, 4 bathrooms- best suited for 7 adults, or to rent per room.

Approximately 300 years old, this dar (house), has been lovingly restored, with the sensitive addition of modern conveniences such as a fully equipped kitchen & four bathrooms including a bathtub. The original wrought iron balconies & windows have been preserved, as have the cedar woodwork throughout, and the great doors, with doors within the doors, stand proudly at the entrances to salons on the ground floor of the courtyard which is open to the sky, & covered during inclement weather. The zelige, or mosaic tiles, are features in every room. From the furnished terrace and viewing platform, a full panorama of the medina and mountains beyond is yours to enjoy, The terrace garden is enhanced by welcome seating, shade in summer, winter breakfasts, moon or lantern light for those romantic dinners. Breakfasts include fresh orange juice, typical Moroccan pancakes/crumpet/breads yoghurts & jams, all organic and fresh fruit. Fatima's dinners are better than ever...try her tasty home recipes

Notes: Children of a reasonable age are welcome with parental supervision due to internal steps and balconies. Please let me know if waterproofing is required, as all mattresses are new and of the highest quality. A reasonable level of fitness is required for the steps to access the 180 Sq Metres which is over three levels....this applies also for the Medina, as all touring is on foot...and the incline can be taxing....go slowly and enjoy! As babies and some young children tend to cry during the night, we suggest your family take the entire house to feel comfortable about not disturbing other guests. WE do have a cot available upon request. Special diets and vegetarians are catered for..advance notice allows us to be prepared. The maid, Fatima, will prepare authentic Moroccan cuisine, if requested the day before at very reasonable rates. A selection of quality Moroccan wines will be available for your choice as well as beers, mixers and mini-bar items. Smoking is permitted on terrace.

Dar El Hana was a memorable holiday!

Bill and Anne Melbourne, Australia
Review Submitted: August 15, 2008 Date of Stay: January 2007
We stayed at Dar El Hana with our family - we were a party of 7 and occupied the entire house. We were there in January yet it was sunny and warm during the day. It was a most memorable holiday.

Josephine is a wonderful host and Dar El Hana is like something out of Vogue magazine yet located in the heart of the Fez medina. The house is a traditional Moroccan Dar replete with character and history. It is built in a square with 4 levels and a light well through the centre to the sky. It is full of beautiful Moroccan antiques, luxurious furnishings and high quality bedding and linen. Every bedroom has its own bathroom. It was like returning to an oasis after a day exploring the sights of the bustling medina.

We were offered Moroccan tea on the rooftop terrace soon after we arrived and Josephine's cook prepared a Moroccan chicken lunch for us on another day. She also organised a beautiful dinner for us at a traditional Fez restaurant set in a house nearby (and supplied us with a guide to find it!). Breakfasts were wonderful, prepared by Josephine and her cook. We were also free to cook for ourselves.

Josephine gave us lots of tips on where to go and what to see whenever we asked - but left us to ourselves to relax and absorb this amazing city. It made such a difference to our experience to be able to speak to an Australian who is a resident of Fez and ask her questions about what we saw during the day.

We have recommended Dar El Hana to many of our friends who have had the same wonderful experience. I could not imagine a better way to enjoy (and understand!) Fez than to stay at Dar El Hana.
Owner's Response: Thankyou for your comments, and for the many guests you have sent our way...I believe the house lends itself to families, or friends enjoying the entire house and terrace.
Though it must also be said that many lasting friendships have been made while sharing accommodation here. As there are many steps and no lifts, it could be tiring and difficult for the disabled.
All staff at Dar El Hana are committed to making your stay in Fez a memorable one.....

Review of Dar El Hana, a winter break.

holiday mates Northampton, England
Review Submitted: October 13, 2008 Date of Stay: February 2008
What an amazing experience Josephine and friends provided. We were met at the Airport and transported to the house, even stopping at the bank on the way. Our taxidriver guided us to the house, for which we were grateful, as it was a secret hideaway. The house was a wonderful discovery, beautifully decorated and equiped, the roof terrace was great for it's views as well as a gathering place, even in February. The birds flying overhead at dawn are worth seeing.
The guided walking tour of the old town and the taxi tour around the rest of Fez was really worth doing, it really helped when we were out on our own.
We would recommend eating at least one of Fatimah's delicious meals. Both the recommended restaurants were good, the guided walk to one of them was a unique experience.
Josephine was a thoughtful hostess whose recommendations and ideas made our visit very special.
I would not hesitate to recommend this propery to a friend.

Walk out into the odiferous streets, past the camel's head on the butcher's stall; avoid being trampled by mules and donkeys; make good your escape from the wheedling salesman; after these attempts you breathe a sigh of relief having located once again 'Dar El Hana' where, in this tranquil environment it is possible to recharge the battery, then go out and experience the excitement all over again!
