Great Escapes offers an idyllic getaway at the foothills of La Peña. With breathtaking views over white sandy beaches and the Moroccan coastline across the Atlantic, it's the perfect place to chill out and recharge the batteries. The best of the weather is between April and October and the chalets offer the ideal place for either a romantic getaway or a great surfing holiday. The chalets offer self catering accommodation with a gas BBQ/grill on the terraces. The pool is private to the chalets and offers a welcome addition in the heat of the summer months. Tarifa is a five minute drive away with a range of restaurants, bars and shops and a bustling night-life in the summer months. The local beach is 10-15 minutes walk away as is the nearest place to get a meal/drinks. For guests who surf we have pump facilities to inflate kites and tools for running repairs, saving on luggage weight and space. We offer plenty of secure parking for vehicles and storage area for surfing equipment.

Great Escapes offers a unique setting surrounded by natural park and at walking distance from the nearest beaches. A five minute car journey takes you to Tarifa town, at the southernmost tip of Europe and just 14kms across to Morocco. Local beaches such as Bolonia, offer the Roman ruins of Baelo Claudia a former fish salting settlement as well as spectacular bathing in clear Atlantic waters. Punta Paloma offers pure white sand dunes and exceptional beaches. The towns of Zahara de los Atunes and Vejer de la Frontera are easily accessible white villages and offer local Spanish flavour and cuisine. Jerez de la Frontera offers the Andalucian equestrian spectacle as well as the opportunity to sample excellent tapas. Birdwatching is another bonus in the area as is whalewatching, Guests at Great Escapes can horseride, do yoga, kite and wind surf, as well as diving. The local natural park is great for mountain bikes and fabulous walks.

RE: Who is Great Escapes for?: Great Escapes specialises in providing a tranquil and stunningly beautiful setting in which to relax. It's ideal for couples on their own or with a baby or small child. Also, the site is ideal for surfers as it offers secure parking and storage for equipment. The site is not suitable for friends who want to live it up, play loud music and invite acquaintances back to stay as the facilities are only open for the use of guests booked in with Great Escapes.

RE: Chalet uno or chalet dos: Chalet uno is divided up into bedroom, bathroom and kitchen area whereas chalet dos is completely open plan. Chalet uno is slightly smaller but has a huge open terrace whereas chalet dos offers more space inside and has a slightly smaller outdoor terrace. all the chalets have a gas grill on the terrace for cooking. Both chalets offer a double bed plus a single bed, which can be exchanged for a cot if required. We don't encourage 3 adults in one chalet as there is not sufficient room to be comfortable or the privacy required. If there are 3 guests who want to come together we do have a smaller chalet which offers twin bed accommodation with separate wc/shower facilities and is ideal for 1 guest or two. This is our smallest chalet and is chalet tres.

RE extra facilities: We offer our guests umbrellas for shade, hammocks with chalet uno and dos, sunbeds and lazy chairs. We provide travel cots at no extra cost. We provide mosquito plugs.

Finally A Real Escape!

We stayed in Chalet Uno at The Great Escape and has a simply fantastic and relaxing holiday. The accomodation is charming, well presented and very clean. The outdoor cooking area is the perfect setting to eat breakfast in the morning, overlooking Tarifa Bay and coast of Morocco, and also fabulous for a BBQ after a hard day on the beach.

Brian and Jenny are wonderful hosts, bending over backwards to help us find places, book restaurants and get us everything we needed to make our stay perfect.

I would highly recomend this rental to anyone looking to truly get away from it all.

After arriving on The Great Escape we felt like being in Garden Eden (palm-lined paths and flowers blooms). The backyard is arranged with many lovely details like sundials, planted wheelbarrows, little cacti beds. We had a relaxing stay in chalet tres. The accommodation was very clean and is equipped with everything you needed – especially the BBQ-grill where we roast some scrambled eggs in the morning and grilled shrimps in the evening. While sitting on our small little terrace, we enjoied the fantastic view over the bay of tarifa. The region around Great Escape invited us to drive around to discover beautiful towns, to eat tasty tapas & delicious seafood as well as drink refreshing Tinto de Verano. By reading books and enjoying the wonderful silence on Great Escape the pool area was the perfect spot to do so.
The hosts Jenny and Brian are really helpful and gave us useful hints for travelling, eating and sightseeing.

The Great Escape is a ideal place to recharge your batteries!

we had a wonderful stay in our chalet with wonderful views over tarifa.
friendly and helpful owners, nice and clean chalet with everything you need, including BBQ-grill.
very nice garden too. very quiet and relaxing, you see the cows, donkeys, horses and pigs grazing alongside the road.

Recommended to all. Owners friendliness and hospitality chalets excellent, clean, equipped, in the midst of nature and animals.

Fantastic place to relax

We stayed in chalet dos for 5 nights and it was the just most relaxing experience I would recommend taking a car to get out and about. Our car broke down and we stayed in at the chalet most days the host were very very helpful and we were so relaxed.. sunbathing, reading and swimming it didn't matter. The Views are fantastic and the chalet itself is very comfortable with a large bed good shower and kitchen facilities. I would definatly recommend it for couples who just want to relax and forget the stress of life.

We book meals and pass on restaurant recommendations from previous guests, as well as provide maps and small details that can make a stay that little bit more special.
