Photos and Description of the Charente vacation cottage rental 2 Bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 4/5 plus cot

Accommodation: Le Tournesol, which sleeps four/five plus cot has been tastefully restored and renovated by its owners. Whilst preserving its character, all modern conveniences have been included. The gîte is open plan with a large lounge/dining area containing television and video recorder, bed settee and chair, and a large wood burning stove. There is a fully fitted kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, microwave and full size gas cooker. Bedroom one has a full size double bed with double wardrobe and chest of drawers, while bedroom two has a set of full sized bunk beds, single wardrobe and drawers. There is also a well equipped shower room. Outside, at the front and rear of the property there are two seating areas ideal for barbecues. There is also a large enclosed garden with solar heated pool.

We are situated in the heart of the beautiful region of Poitou-Charentes with its mild and balmy climate. The gîte is located on the side of the valley overlooking the River Charente making it an excellent location for fishing, walking, bird watching and cycling. Le Tournesol is located at the edge of the pretty peaceful village of Alloue where there is a boulangerie, bar/tabac and post office. The medieval town of Confolens, straddling the River Vienne, is just 15 minutes away, which, each August, plays host to an international festival of world music and dance.

This is an outstanding property in every way. Spotlessly clean, incredibly well equipped, exceptional value for money and two of the most lovely and welcoming hosts you could wish for. I would highly recommend this property to anyone.

Directions to the property were excellent. The gite was very clean and plenty of towels were provided. Bedlinien was changed weekly. We were given a warm welcome by the owners and the welcome basket was super. Our queries were answered promptly.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this property. Eating out is expensive due to the poor exchange rate of the Euro but pizza at lunchtime was good.Kayaking on the Vienne river was fun. The boys really enjoyed the splash pool at the gite.

A roaring fire greeted our very late arrival to which our hosts, Sue and David were unconcerned.
The property was spacious, clean, comfortable and well equipped also with a comprehensive selection of books, games etc.
Set in sedate countryside a short walk from a village it is a very relaxing place. Ideal if you wish to sightsee due to its central location to a number of large towns or just sample the French village life close by.
We enjoyed dinner on the front terrace on a number of occasions and soaked up the evening sun with a bottle of wine which was very satisfying.
We would like to convey our thanks and best wishes for continued success to Sue and David

The property was beautifully located, very tranquil with farm land all around and close to a babbling river.

The property was very well equipped, spotlessly clean and the owners delightful.

I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending this gite to friends.

This property is superb for those looking for a peaceful and relaxing place to unwind. Spotlessly clean and well maintained with all the mod cons and very comfortable. The property is set in a very picturesque area , located in what has to be one of the most beautiful places in France. If you are prepared to get out and about and explore all the surrounding areas you will get to see some wonderful places and be able to experience the real France. The owners make you feel really welcome and have lots of hints and tips on where to go and what to do. We didn't want to leave, our two weeks went by far to fast. We cant wait to go back.
